To think that Oli went from barely being able to properly sing to being an almost angelic like singer within than a decade is really interesting to see and witness!
The incredible thing about Oli is he has NO idea how technically talented he is. I had him do a Cameo for me the other day and I asked him for advice on screaming and one the things he said was that singing involves so much more technique and for him screaming comes from a place of raw passion. But listening to their “making of” videos, you hear so many moments where he is doing things that require a lot of technique! I just don’t even think he notices.
Getting very strong chester bennington vibes! Especially on the "can't trust myself tonight" line. Just the delivery of tonight alone has me firing up hybrid theory again haha Great video, thanks chris!
the first time i listened to Darkside i picked up on the Papa Roach "reference" (if you will) as soon as i heard it. I love this song and i love this band. Cant wait to see them live
This was explained really well I'm still struggling with the distorted singing when it hits high notes but this made me understand the technique a bit better
I personally like the higher pitch screaming instead of the like really low, screaming idk why but this satisfied me. You should do a reaction on ronin by ibaraki, Gerard way screams in it. Would love for you to analyze it! 🙏🤘
I'm not that a fan of such distorted vocals, but your passion in talking about it is as amazing as always :) But you know where I'm going...? :D I'm not giving up, I have to hear my favorite vocal coach's analysis of my favorite singer. I won't believe you'd have nothing interesting to say about Son Jin Wook's extremely powerful and usually not distorted ;) high pitches...
@@Letskickitup Having been Oli's coach for the past 8.5 years, I've witnessed his vocal journey first hand 🙏 There's a lot to it but in a nutshell it's his dedication to constantly honing his craft 💪
Really loved the breakdown. I never knew how to do this style of singing, and it’s the next frontier for me. Would also love to see you breakdown some of the production techniques they are using. Because the production is a big part of this sound.
Awesome video as always! It'd be cool to see you breaking down either Tom Barber or Cameron McBride (specifically his work on Methwitch). Both of them have really unique sounds that I don't see many people explaining.
Thanks for acknowledging that Oli's voice is getting better & better! This is the sort of validation we coaches like to hear 🙏 I've been Oli's coach for the past 8.5 years and because we've been working on this song, TH-cam is now promoting videos relating to it, which is how I saw this 👍
I was recently put onto them and have been hooked ever since! And then to come across you covering them has been such a treat! Beautiful cover!Dark by October Ends is a vocal challenge, but I believe you can pull it off amazingly!
Please analyze an amazing Japanese singer named Hyde. One of his songs is called Red Swan from a show called Attack on Titan, it is a beautiful song. His voice is amazing.
If Ronnie really is one your favorite singers you could make a How to Sing Like Ronnie video selecting his best lines specially from his Escape the Fate era.
Chris awesome videos! Please take a listen and analyze Hyde san! I am sure you will find it interesting when it comes to expressive vocals; a bit of Merlin Mason vibe as well! Please do a video! :D
@@emkstr yeah, i know that. Now he´s yelling instead; not a big fan i have to say. Now it´s too late... Love the new stuff, but i will miss his sempiternal scream, even that´s spirit screams sounds nice :/
Get the foundation down so that you can sing and scream like Oli sykes: chrisliepe.com/free-your-voice/
I would like to hear a vocal analysis of Beast in Black's "Blind and Frozen." How does Yannis do that?
To think that Oli went from barely being able to properly sing to being an almost angelic like singer within than a decade is really interesting to see and witness!
Agreed! And I've witnessed this process first hand and been integrally involved. He works very hard on his voice 👊
Not so sure about angelic, but my word can he sing

As his coach, I can attest to this being true 👍
@@KimChandlerSingerYour Oli’s coach?? Wow. I personally think his screams are becoming some of the best in the world.. ☠️🎱🌍
@@matt_jr_goku I agree, but I only coach the singing side, some of which has application to screaming too 👌
I love Oli’s voice, he gives me real chills when he sings 😊 please invite him and do a lesson together ❤❤

They’re LP on steroids. Ever since Sempiternal. Amazing band.

Oh I love it when you cover BMTH. Oli really does keep getting better as time goes on!
Syke’s singing in these types of songs are so caked in grit and mud, love it
Been waiting for more Oli Sykes for awhile now😁
This was explained really well

Oh damn i hope you will get him in the studio some day and you can get deeper in his techniques 🙏
That'd be amazing!!
@chrisliepe especially because he struggled much with his voice in his past but now he found his voice and I wanna know what he did to get there

@KimChandlerSinger what I would give ro hear some stories!
@@Letskickitup Haha, I'm sure 😉But there won't be anything from me on that front 🤐
Chris you are the greatest harsh vocal instructor on TH-cam

Have you seen my video on THRONE? I break down some production stuff there you might like :)
Dude can’t believe I just watched the sing with distortion video and tried to sing Can You Feel My Heart and the next day this vid comes out😮😮
YESSSSS

Learning how to sing at the minute because my band can’t find a singer and although it’s different music to BMTH, I would love to sing like Oli
Man I love watching these and always learning new things to experiment with myself 🤘
Thank you sir!
Definitely needed this one!! Thank you!! Hahaha
I actually wanted to know what actually music word for when screaming sining now I do thanks to you cheers I going enjoy video thanks 😊
Four Year Strong is one of my favourite bands that does this type of singing. Check em out, they's brilliant!

"Lean into the crack."
*Ronald Reagan has entered the chat
OMG this has both my roommate and I shook. October Ends created a gem with Dark. Your cover would be the icing on the cake!
Awesome video Christ as always. Thanks for your work
We've got to get a spencer charnas tutorial. His versatility is amazing!!
If Ronnie really is one your favorite singers you could make a How to Sing Like Ronnie video selecting his best lines specially from his Escape the Fate era.
You just made my life 100x better
so the secret is talking like Morty and then add support?
Great tips! Non judgmental experimentation is key like you said, and yes, Morty is a great gateway sound!
Chris you are the man! Awesome vid. Still hoping you cover Spencer Charnas one day 😁
dude i couldnt for the life of me scream, tried for a year to consistently do it, this legit got it for me.
I would love to see more old 30 seconds to mars and old opeth, thanks Chris , 😊
You teach a mean Hardcore Punk scream, like the one Jon Mess from Dance Gavin Dance does, or Bryan Garris from Knocked Loose.
If I remember correctly they delayed the release by a month. And they been working on it while on the road while outsourcing the production .
First!!! keep up the good work :)
Great video Chris. Can you do Sade (smooth operator) next? Or circa survive

The sigh though!!!! I found a really low Cookie Monster voice by shaping my mouth and face
In the beginning he sounds a little like Chino from Deftones.
Theres going to be a yungblud x BMTH collabd released at aome point today. If anyone knows what time, please share😊
I’d like to see something like this on Landon Tewers, I’m not sure if there’s anything here
For the love of God, get Oli Sykes to do a vocal course with you!
That would be pretty incredible!!
3:10 Noted
Reaja ao gabriel henrique com a musica hurt de cristina aguilera and feeling god
Love your content, but with this "new" technic (not first albums) he using different way to add distortion in his singing note
Squidward screaming at 6:31
How much volume is he using when he’s doing the screams, because i find that its very easy to just use way too much and hurt my voice
It’s less volume than belted singing for sure!
Comment for da algorithm
Streak count: 279
Is he singing with fry, false chords, or distortion?
I wouldn't consider this all that high of a good level of singing.
How to scream like Fred durst
I don't understand the functionality of "sigh". isn't this just fold compression?
the sigh helps you activate your false cords without first going too hard on your primary cords. It's a "feeling out" process!
@@chrisliepe gotcha. I try it out today
I think i lost my hearing..........................
to me, his best screams are from Sempiternal era
He was killing himself doing it though. There’s a BBC studio vid somewhere on TH-cam of them doing Shadow Moses and it’s audibly painful.
