    I feel like a lot of these tips are for people who are shy, and not introverts. I am an introvert, but I’m definitely not shy and have no problem maintaining convos. I just need time by myself to recharge afterwards.

      I'm unfortunately both. My comfort of being my own company has also made me terrible at conversations lasting longer than a few minutes, lol 😂

      I'm not shy either, though I'm generally quiet, the observing type. But when I talk I am very direct and can sometimes be blunt, it's like I have that "I can't lie" problem like Jim Carrey in the Liar movie. I guess I need a video to become a convincing liar 😆

      @@yikes7607 I call it "truthful Tourette's"--I can't lie to save my life. And worse, I'm a nervous babbler. I am introverted in that being around people too long exhausts me, but I also have this odd burst of nervous energy that makes me that weird person who has a 2-minute convo with complete strangers in the checkout line at the grocery store.
      I have a job interview tomorrow and my biggest worry is that I'll talk too much during it (I'm sure my babbling habit is at least 90% of what's cost me previous interviews the past few months)

    • @yikes7607
      @yikes7607 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tallyp.7643 aww I'm sorry...! But hey at least you're aware of it, maybe that's the first step towards controlling it.
      I wonder if trying to "embody" a character you admire could help, or someone you admire. I don't mean faking it in a negative way, just allowing yourself to embody those traits until they become natural to you, a kind of "fake it 'till you make it".
      I think if we can figure out why we are the way we are we can control it better and change it. Like for example, many of my more negative behaviours have their root in childhood, and that awareness has helped me see myself more clearly and change some of them, though it's a work in progress.
      I hope this helps you in any way!
      And I'm wishing you good luck for your interview, I hope you walk in there with confidence and snag that position. Know your worth and what you can offer, and be as relaxed as possible. Really think if embodying some qualities of someone you admire could help. Best of luck ❤️

    My biggest weakness is being asked questions that I have never been asked in a previous interview.

    • @nedcpa
      @nedcpa ปีที่แล้ว +4

      There are three types of questions that employers may ask during an interview:
      1. Questions about past behavior. To answer these, use the STAR method (Situation, Task, Action, Result). The STAR method is a storytelling framework by default.
      2. Questions about specific projects or job duties - answer by recalling specific information (using the STAR method, if possible).
      3. Situational questions - To answer these, use a relevant framework (such as a customer service or conflict resolution framework).

      I try to follow the politician's approach in this situation. Have you ever seen a politician answer a question they don't know or don't want to speak to by essentially just turning the response into something they DO wish to discuss. It's not a bulletproof solution and sometimes I'm not sure that I've won them over with my answer, but in 90% of cases, they will still move on to the next question anyway. No one has a perfect answer for every question.

    Introvert is a person who recovers their energy by being alone, quiet, in silence. I am a total introvert.
    I am assertive and a public speaker. Introvertness has nothing to do with assertiveness.
    If I don’t spend a loooot of time alone at home in silence, I’m drained and nearly dead. That’s an introvert.
    Extrovert is a person who recharged by being with others and processes life events by talking.
    Introverts process life events quietly by thinking and journaling and staring in the nowhere for hours.

      Agreed. My approach to interviews is i have 70-90% of the skills you need at the pay you can afford. But too many times the interviewer is expecting the person to have 120% of the skills for 80% of pay they can afford. And when they give the job to those people, are shocked when they leave for something better.

    WOW I’m an introvert who hasn’t been on an interview since 2010 and I had one scheduled for tomorrow! I canceled it, though because I didn’t feel ready and the nerves were just making me so uneasy. I plan to reschedule and be better prepared so I’m not as nervous.

    • @tallyp.7643

      Best of luck to ya--I got an interview tomorrow myself and am worried because I'm trying not to let my desperation for a new job shine through, and when I get nervous, I get chatty. I'm sure that's cost me in previous interviews the past few months, and I can't afford to mess any more up. I only applied today, so it makes me wonder if perhaps (since the job's been on the boards for quite a few months now, but I'm losing my fear of "not being good enough") they're as desperate to fill the spot as I am to take it. That's making me relax a bit and I'm gonna grab a book to read and shut down and sleep soon.

      @@tallyp.7643Don't feel bad I do the same thing and it's like I'm on the outside listening to myself carrying on!
      The best thing you can do is keep your answers short and to the point. The problem is the interviewer will invite these long conversations about nothing and it drives me crazy.
      Good Luck!

    Preparation is key. I researched the company I now work for, especially as they were in Chapter 11. Also called someone who worked there and had interacted with the team I would be on.
    But key in my recent successful interviews over the past decade (in addition to preparation) was to act like I already had the job and get information/provide information which would solve their problems. Introverted definitely, but once you get me focused on solving problems and sharing similar experiences then I am on a roll. I love focusing on providing solutions and getting additional information to help me do so.
    I did have a subpar interview about 2 years ago. I went on the interview only because I think it is good to practice. Purchased a book on the company, but didn't read it as my father told me how the company didn't have the same moral objectives as I did (correctly). So I just kinda winged it, and I believe my lack of enthusiasm was clear. Plus it was with a recruiter rather than the hiring manager.
    Get me with the person who has the problems, especially technical, regulatory, or marketing ones.

    As an introvert I got use to talking to people public by just doing public volunteer work. Less pressure hopefully this helps someone. This could help in the job interview. Also look up famous introverts as well for example usa president Zachary Taylor was said to be an introvert. So was Abraham Lincoln. Need to add this research unhealthly at tendencies of introverts and extroverts also healthy introverts and extroverts it was very eye opening for me.

    "practice, don't rehearse" ... That's gold. I have a' virtual interview' with a talent advisor from a foreign country for a local job (entry level) i applied for. Can anyone shed some light on this? Will this be in depth into my skills, personality,... Or is this more of a prelim meeting for their weeding out candidates who aren't motivated? 🤔

    Introverts are not shy
    I am an introvert and I work in Export SALES
    Introverts and extroverts differ by how they spend and get back their energy. Extroverts get their energy from social interaction while it depletes when they are not. Introverts are the opposite- we use up our energy when we socialise and use “me time” to replenish the batteries.
    Shyness has nothing to do with it ;)

      Logically though would an introvert not come across as shy in most cases because they are conserving their energy by avoiding social interactions? Obviously not in all cases but you can see the connection.

    • @izamalcadosa2951
      @izamalcadosa2951 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Shyness and Timidity are traits that all Introverts possess and is part of their DNA, some more, some less. What you say is true but there is a lot more to being an Introvert than what you commented on here. Jenn Granneman wrote and award-winning book called: "The Secret Lives of Introverts!". It explains the complex personalities that exist within Introverts and how to overcome them. Once you overcome them, you will become more outgoing but your innate personality still remains: being quiet, shy, timid, reserve and needing to be alone for hours or days at a time to recharge your emotions, mind, spirit and body. Becoming "Extroverted" as and "Introvert" is only possible to a certain extend but we can never really, truly be an "Extrovert" as an Introvert. There are also shy, timid and reserve Extroverts but those types are in the minority.

    I have been to interviews for grad posts and the interviewers were some of the rudest people ever. One occasion as part of a assessment day, i had a tough interview (which I passed), this was followed by a group task (under observation). Two people immediately took charge and dominated the task and wouldn't let anyone else speak - i respectfully interrupted and reminded them of teamwork and letting myself and others contribute, i had to do this several times (I'm reserved and this was me leaving my comfort zone). They eventually ran out of gas and it was then that me and others had to finish the task. I was declined and in my feedback I was told I passed the interview but I was disruptive during the group task, i learned through social media that the two dominant ones got a place with them - the company also declined to speak to me regarding my feedback and suggestions etc (i also opine that the company only could take 2 max applicants from each assessment day). As a reserved person who enjoys my own company but is sociable and respectful this video is a god send. thank you for this and god bless other introverts lol. Have a good day reader.

I have also found real life work experience dealing with customers (and colleagues) is more valuable have a bunch of qualifications and paper. Thank you for your time, have a good day.

    I apply for a job, I never receive an invitation for interview but after that I receive emails or phone calls to know if I can find people to work for the company ! I would like to precise the fact that I am not a recruiter and I do not work in a recruitment agency. Honestly I find that outrageous and obviously I never do it.
