Jonathan Winters really was a pioneering impressionist and comedian. I still find myself viewing his routines even though many of them were made before I was even born. I can still remember a time when you couldn't turn on a TV without him being on. He was everywhere in the 60's and 70's but you never got tired of seeing him, even now when many of his appearances are rerun.
There was never enough of Jonathan Winters on television or film. There should have been more. The same can now be said of Robin Williams. RIP to both.
"I had a hell of a first half... now I'm in overtime." Words to live by. At least near his end he knew he was still remembered, appreciated and admired. Young 'uns could learn something from him.... talent.
I've seen this many time but this one never gets old. 2:37 - Priceless reaction! Fastest brain to make a quick skit...what a legend. RIP Williams and Winters
that always got me too. never gets old and it shows the Genius of both Robin and Jonathan, they can take something like that plane flying loudly over head and turn it into Comedy Gold!
Mr.Winters: an amazing genius and a true high-wire act. the man has been hysterical for some 60+ years. ... I believe Robin when he says, "he's my idol and my mentor".
It's hard to believe that I grew up watching Jonathan Winters and I loved him dearly Robin Williams came in a time in my life when I really did need laughter and he supplied it and now there are both in heaven and then making everyone up there laugh I want a ticket to that show
Greatest comedian every to grace the TV/Radio. He didn't need shock factor he just used the most creative mind ever assembled by God. RIP Jonathan never forgotten.
I was very saddened by the news of Robin's passing but what helped was the immediate thought of his soul hopefully meeting up w/that of Mr. Jonathan Winters! Now that is a duo you can't compare to. Thank you both for the many years of memories & laughter...and Robin ty for always showing us the REAL you & not some watered down Hollywood version. It made us love you that much more! RIP!
R.I.P. Jonathon, and thanks for all the great laughs over the years. I hope you are at peace and will be remembered as one of the GREAT story-tellers and king of improv.
The myth that these two were father and son, one way or another, from my childhood of watching Mork and Mindy has never really gone away. The incredible admiration in Robin Williams for Winters is a genuine wonder to behold.
Of course by themselves there are funny men but together you better hold on to your seats because they'll go for your funny bone. Rest in peace to two comic legends.
To anyone condemning Robin Williams I would ask that they pose themselves this one simple question. Is the world richer or poorer now that he's no longer with us ? Most would answer that it is most definitely poorer. He gave so much laughter and pleasure. We are not to judge someone suffering with depression. We can only try to understand it better so we can try to help others in the same desperate situation as him.. Comedy is something that polarises opinion. You either "get someone" or you don't. That's the way it is. But to vilify anyone who reaches a point where they feel that their only way out is to take their own life is unforgivable. He wasn't selfish. That presumes control and being rational. He wasn't. He was ill and that warrants our sympathy not bitterness.
Robin Williams had Lewy's Body Dementia, a genetically inherited disease that is often misdiagnosed as Parkinson's. It was diagnosed post-mortem during his autopsy. He was my generation's court jester. Such a loss!
While I am not condemning Robin, I must respectfully disagree with you. Suicide by it's very definition is selfish. Robin's suicide however was not as he had been diagnosed with Lewi-Body dementia & his cognitive faculties were compromised. It's not my job to judge people who commit suicide, I actually empathize with them.
Robin, I hope Jonathan Winters, Johnny Carson, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, et al were there with God to welcome you to your final reward. Thanks all for a lifetime of hilarious laughs and insights about the human condition. Bless you all. You were all pioneers, innovators and are sadly missed. RIP to all.
JW...a staple of my childhood...have laughed at him since I was a little boy...now 70 and still laughing...RIP great man...and hope Robin is there with you...like Jedi to grasshopper...
RIP Jonathan. We''ll miss you for all the fun times on TV, but your spirit lives on in those of us who appreciated comedians who didn't need to use foul language. Til we meet again up above. TY ;-(
@@sadeghhamedani9224 actually, it's the other way around. Wren you playing any attention when watching the video? Robin even stated it himself and has continuously done so as he was still alive.
He was on the Steve Allen daytime show once. They had filled a small room with stuff just lying around and Johnathon walked in and did twenty minutes off the top of his head. There are smart intelligent men then there are geniuses. Johnathon Winters heads that list.
RIP Jonathan Winters (November 11, 1925 - April 11, 2013), aged 87 And RIP Robin Williams (July 21, 1951 - August 11, 2014), aged 63 You both will be remembered as legends
Yea it was a bit of a lame audience but it is Jonathan Winters and if Jonathan Winters wants to stand there and say something you will listen. You are missed JW and you left the world a much better place.
This is so sad. Everybody there was so happy to see the two of them together. Obviously, you could tell Jonathan wasn't looking too good, and was in his last years of life. But at least we would still have Robin for many years to come. But we ended up losing Robin a year later to the silent killer, depression.
Jonathan Winters, one third of my childhood triumvirate of beloved Jonathans (along with Harris and Frid).Rest in peace dear one,and thank you forever for reaching out to a lonely, troubled boy with your "Wacky World"
The crowd is probably filled with 20-something actors that have little appreciation for the originators and not the imitators (not to be confused with impressionists).
Their should here should be a scale, like maybe 1-5 dots, and it shows the degree to which a person is qualififed, to have an opinion....this clip, now that Robin has passed, will get millions of hits....and millions of comments from people who were born AFTER the cellphone. Those children need to realize the right of passage that is maturity. There should be NO negative comments about either of these men. These guys are what kept your Mom up long enough for you Dad to make You.
I agree that there should be no negative opinions on this clip, but to have a scale to which a person is "qualified to HAVE an opinion" conjures up good buddies such as Stalin, Hitler, Chairman Mao, et. al.
There's a kinship between those two that transcends the brilliance of either of them. I hope to get more laughs from them on the other side when my time is up. This is what mutual respect & admiration looks like.
I bet you what... I bet you these guys are laughing it straight to the Heavens bank... Don't be surprised when Heaven said... I thank you, It's our turn. Thank you guys. Just simply, Thank you.
The fact they could take a plane flying overhead and do a skit with it is simply incredible.
Improv at its best!
He invented the timing that Robin Williams and Steve Martin made into careers. Jonathan Winters was one of those guys you wanted to live forever.
Amen

MUSICOM PRODUCTIONS kk
It can be said that comedy is an art and these two are the brush and the paint.
I've seen this many time but this one never gets old. 2:37 - Priceless reaction! Fastest brain to make a quick skit...what a legend. RIP Williams and Winters
I'm amazed at Robbin ability to imitate accents so well, first time I heard him mimic japanese pronunciation!
that always got me too. never gets old and it shows the Genius of both Robin and Jonathan, they can take something like that plane flying loudly over head and turn it into Comedy Gold!
Mr.Winters: an amazing genius and a true high-wire act. the man has been hysterical for some 60+ years. ... I believe Robin when he says, "he's my idol and my mentor".
I liked Robin's, "the many, the one, Johnathan Winters!" And even at 82, John's mind isn't completely frozen up by the ennui of retirement.
Both of them so brilliant! I love them. What happiness they've brought to my life! AND, how many people can make Robin Williams laugh?
It's hard to believe that I grew up watching Jonathan Winters and I loved him dearly Robin Williams came in a time in my life when I really did need laughter and he supplied it and now there are both in heaven and then making everyone up there laugh I want a ticket to that show

God rest theiir souls...two of the most comedic geniuses that ever graced us with their presence. Robin Williams and Jonathan Winters.
So touching. Rest in Paradise Robin and Jonathan.
R.I.P. Jonathon, and thanks for all the great laughs over the years. I hope you are at peace and will be remembered as one of the GREAT story-tellers and king of improv.

Agree
" It's one of ours!"oh Lord I laughed so hard, he was a Genius ! And I miss him .
Jonathan was pure genius and Robin too. Can't see how we'll ever replace them.
"Well, I'm running against him because I can pronounce California.'
Galleyfawnya!
Jonathan Winters and Robin Williams together in heaven, imagine God going "stop you are killing me"
That was very well said¡!!
If man upstairs never had a sense of humor, he better have one now.
xavi xav lol honest
LOL...I love how they play off each other on stage. :) RIP to both of them.

Robin Williams had Lewy's Body Dementia, a genetically inherited disease that is often misdiagnosed as Parkinson's. It was diagnosed post-mortem during his autopsy. He was my generation's court jester. Such a loss!
Thanks buddy I appreciate your comment.

hopefully they're both together now and young and happy and free
gigi marciano you know it

No one has eternal life without Jesus. He’s the ONLY way.
@J A Judge not lest ye also be judged.
Robin, I hope Jonathan Winters, Johnny Carson, George Carlin, Richard Pryor, et al were there with God to welcome you to your final reward. JW...a staple of my childhood...have laughed at him since I was a little boy...now 70 and still laughing...RIP great man...and hope Robin is there with you...like Jedi to grasshopper...
God how I miss those two. There's nobody like them: the duet of "weird city" of improv. Mike McCune
I would like to have seen Don rickles, Robin, Mel brooks, Groucho and Johnathon on a stage together it would be glorious !
Absolutely. That would be a dream ticket.
I know he says it, but, you can tell Robin genuinely loved this man. These two are greatly missed!
RIP Jonathan. We''ll miss you for all the fun times on TV, but your spirit lives on in those of us who appreciated comedians who didn't need to use foul language. Til we meet again up above. TY ;-(
It's obvious that Robin williams was greatly inspired by Jonathan Winters- the greatest off the cuff comedian ever.
Johnathon Winters and Robin William, two of the true legends of comedy. Thank you for entertaining us!!!
A truly remarkable man we all will never forget
two of the all time greats
The unhesitating take(s) with the plane overhead shows why there are these two, and then all the others.
These two and others have made my life better just by having a laugh
They shoulda let them improvise some more. We could have all laughed for hours.
Shinnudue harrigunnadatudae! How did he come up with it right away? Cant stop laughing.
God I miss the 70s 80s back when these two were peaking.
Great comedians great television.
It's so sad that these two wonderful men are gone now. But knowing they are in a better place helps !!
JONATHAN WINTERS WAS ONE OF THE ALL TIME, ALL TIME GREAT'S NEVER AGAIN

R I P Mork and Merph.
Triton , Jonathan's name on the show was Mearth. I understand it sounds similar. :) M for Mork & Mindy + planet Earth
Jonathan Winters was like Robin Williams if Robin Williams knew how to control his comedy lol
Robin Williams was like a Jonathan Winters without built-in break.
It's TH-cam, so there HAS to be a dumbass, lame comment.
@@sadeghhamedani9224 actually, it's the other way around. Wren you playing any attention when watching the video? Robin even stated it himself and has continuously done so as he was still alive.
They don't make them like that anymore. They did not swear or say vulgar stuff they just talked and were brilliant. Two wonderfully funny gentlemen.
You're not familiar with their real work are you?
I'm old enough to remember seeing Johnathon Winters on the Jack Parr Show.
He was on the Steve Allen daytime show once. They had filled a small room with stuff just lying around and Johnathon walked in and did twenty minutes off the top of his head. There are smart intelligent men then there are
geniuses. Johnathon Winters heads that list.
Good God..R.I.P Jonathon Winters....You changed everything.
RIP Jonathan Winters (November 11, 1925 - April 11, 2013), aged 87
And

the best of the best RIP Robin and Johnathan
lol "And you went over to entertain our troops" "yeah too late now" "Really made 'em mad" TOO damn funny!
This is so sad. Everybody there was so happy to see the two of them together. Obviously, you could tell Jonathan wasn't looking too good, and was in his last years of life. But at least we would still have Robin for many years to come. But we ended up losing Robin a year later to the silent killer, depression.

The crowd is probably filled with 20-something actors that have little appreciation for the originators and not the imitators (not to be confused with impressionists).

There's a kinship between those two that transcends the brilliance of either of them. I hope to get more laughs from them on the other side when my time is up. This is what mutual respect & admiration looks like.
I hope both Robin and Jonathan are at peace. These are truly sad.
