  • Ukraine Military received both NASAMS and IRIS-T SLM air defense systems from western countries in order to defend against the Russian airstrikes.
    Both Surface to Air missile systems provide protection against aircraft, helicopters, missiles, drones, and guided weapons.
    NASAMS is a short- to medium-range air defense system developed by Raytheon Technologies and Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace of Norway. IRIS-T SLM on the other hand, is a tactical medium-range air defense system designed and produced by the German firm Diehl Defense.
    So today we are going to compare these two defense systems.

    The Nasams 3 system use the GhostEye MR radar with 260 km range. The Nasams system can also fire IRIS-T missils

      IRIS-T system itself uses different types of missiles.

      NASAM 3 can fire missiles at 72 targets simultaneously (21 kg warhead). 24 planes, 24 cruise missiles, 24 drones. What is the cost of a human life? More than all the wealth of the world, it says in the Bible. Used together with Patriot to protect effectively.

    Guess both have a very high success rate. IRIS-T is about 98%. The only goal is to keep Ukraine sky clean... and both are very successful. If I am right in counting, Ukraine has much more 4D Radar trucks then IRIS-T SLM Systems. So, if they could combine both the may protect even more territory.

    what do you mean by truck mounted launcher truck . . . you mean a truck is launched into the skies, that itself is mounted on another truck . . . is that what ur trying to say bcos when you say truck mounted launcher truck this is what it means . . . by the way, the IRIS-T SLM is clearly the obvious choice in this comparison . . . a long range variant of the IRIS-T SLM is needed . . . incorporating new semi-hypersonic IRIS-T2 SLM missile . . . and then that will pack some serious punch to surface-to-air combat . . .

    The video is lacking information. Bad research mr. Some examples. NASAMS has 3 different revisions and the latest and newest radar for NASAMS III is “Ghost Eye MR”. But the sentinel radar is much more mobile than the new radar option and Iris-T radar. Also NASAMS can use the regular Iris-T short range missile that we previously used on Norwegian F-16. And also NASAMS can be used with a quad missile pack on Hummer truck and it’s therefore more mobile. NASAMS can also get target information from F-35 or other modern NATO planes. So obviously the NASAMS is a much more flexible solution than German Iris-T systems.

    • @yufka3247
      @yufka3247 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just no, the entire IRIS-T system can be used directly from the truck, unlike NASAMS which has to be placed first IRIS T can be operational within 15min, therefore the system is much more flexible, yes it can be useful to be able to shoot Sidewinders and other AA missiles but they will always be a second choice as long as you don't run out of missiles...

    • @arbelico2
      @arbelico2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Greetings . It is presumable that the IRIS-T AA defense system and the MEADS / PATRIOT use the (JTIDS) to receive information from other radars and aircraft since it is a standard NATO system.

    • @arbelico2
      @arbelico2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The real questions are how effective are the radars and missiles of each system against the different threats: drones, fighters, cruise/ballistic missiles.

    • @daginn896
      @daginn896 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@yufka3247 Just no. The NASAMS can be fired directly from humvees and other platforms. It does not have to be stationed like you say. That is the older models. And unlike the Iris-t slm, Nasams can use a multitude of missiles, including Iris-t. And it has a better radar.

    • @yufka3247
      @yufka3247 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@daginn896 Ok, so you have a humvee instead of an MAN truck, that counts for the launchers, what about the command post?
      Also yes NASAMS can fire a wide range of missiles but they only include standard NATO air to air missiles (and especially ir guided), the iris-t version you are mentioning is the standard air to air version which is equal to the iris t sls not the slm, it is bigger and obviously more capable (in terms of range etc)
