The NEW 2022 Pagani Huayra R Hypercar Sounds Like an Old F1 Car! - 9.000-RPM V12 N/A Engine at Monza

- I enjoyed filming the new Pagani Huayra R Hypercar on sale from 2022 in only 30 units for exclusive use on the track. One thing is sure; the stunning 6.0-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine produced in collaboration with AMG develops 850hp at 9,000rpm and has a great sound reminiscent of historic F1 cars. If we add a sublime carbon and titanium construction that stops the balance at just 1,050Kg, we can understand what a great track car could be, the latest creation by Horacio Pagani. The price of all this? 2.6 Million Euros, excluding taxes. Enjoy the sound of the V12 during a day of testing at the Monza circuit.

Ho avuto il piacere di filmare la nuova Pagani Huayra R Hypercar in vendita dal 2022 in soli 30 esemplari per un uso esclusivo in pista. Una cosa è certa, lo straordinario motore V12 aspirato da 6.0-Litri prodotto in collaborazione con AMG sviluppa 850cv a 9.000 giri/min ed ha un suono magnifico, ricorda quello delle storiche vetture di F1. Se a questo aggiungiamo una sublime costruzione in carbonio e titanio che ferma l'ago della bilancia a soli 1.050Kg, possiamo capire che straordinaria auto da pista possa essere l'ultima creazione di Horacio Pagani. Il prezzo di tutto questo? 2.6 Milioni di Euro, tasse escluse. Godetevi il sound del V12 durante una giornata di test presso il circuito di Monza.

They combined all 12 Pipes into one and then sent it across 4 closely spaced exhaust pipes. So it sounds like it's revving twice as high as it is, like a V12 at 18000 rpm! The pitch is even higher than the V10 F1s revving to 20K rpm.
Thanks for that explanation of the sound. I just posted a comment asking how the sound can be as high pitched as the TIPO 043 Ferrari F1 engine which was 3.5 litres and revved at nearly 16,000 rpm back in the mid 90s.
So its faked.

I own a Huayra, and although it's not this version, it's still an amazing vehicle with such a beautiful handling, and the speed is, to say it someway, other-worldly.

God I miss when F1 sounded like this. It added such an overwhelming level of emotion that is missing from F1 today. I understand why it had to happen but miss it all the same.
Unfortunately, I don't understand why they had to kill the emotions of a sport like F1. I miss those wonderful years too.
It didnt really need to happen as hybrid technology immediately became obsolete after the introduction of ev.
To this day, most manufacturers are still struggling to make hybrid a practical alternative to standard ice or ev without making it ludicrously expensive.
It didn't "have" to happen, but alas politics and virtue signaling plays a bigger role in F1 these days than it used to.

Staggering piece of engineering. Incredible how light the engine is for its size - same for the whole car really. Thank goodness we still have people like Horacio Pagani building machines like this.

At 198kg it is about 28 kg up to the T50 V12. But it does have more displacement.

That's an incredibly high-pitched sound for a 6 litre engine at only 9,000 rpm. The old V12 TIPO 043 Ferrari F1 engines were reaching nearly 16,000 rpm from a 3.5 litre engine in the mid 90s and didn't sound higher pitched than that.

@@probablygraham Right. And that same effect is what Gordon Murray wants to exploit in the T50S by putting the pipes next to each other. It causes the exhaust pulses to overlap, which means it will sound like 24000 rpm.

You can make a kit car out of a old 90’s Mercedes S600 V12 and have a very similar experience if you’re determined enough.

Now this sound brings back memories of watching the F1 races back in the 90s with my dad. Pure nostalgia and joy.

And I think they will be used in special events such as the one organized by Ferrari with the XX series or Lamborghini with the new Essenza SC12. However, I find it very unlikely that you'll see something like this on a traditional track day.

I remember when the Zonda R was released and it did that awesome lap around the Nordschleife, this is some how even better. The greatest way to end the run of a model. Can't wait to see what comes next from Pagani
I know that video very well; I look at it now and then. We are waiting for Pagani to bring this car back to the Nurburgring to establish a new, incredible lap time.

I think Horacio Pagani did confirm that Pagani will start making an electric model in a few years. Given how they're still a small company, it'll probably be the only model they'll be able to produce, which probably means they will most likely be one more ICE-powered Pagani at most.

This explains why there will likely be something electric in future models. My opinion, however, is that probably none of the Pagani customers would dream of having an electric hypercar ... I understand that times change, but we must not erase the past.

The high revving N/A V12 is part of the reason I always loved the Zonda alot more than the Huayra, but this thing sounds superb!

This features an entirely new and specially designed naturally aspirated engine. Road Huayras have a turbo engine, and it's different. That's why this car has a magical sound.

This huayra, it's just unique, the brutality of the engine is felt, the melody of the exhaust is superb, it's a true N/A engine at high revs and some kinda American muscle car at low revs, I just can't explain it, it's artistic. Sounds like it's crossplane at some point at another flatplane, mind blown

The existence of the Huayra R puts me a smile in my face (also my ears bleed and my snake rise, ok no XD) knowing Pagani and AMG stills at the top of his game despite of the incoming EU regulations in the future.

R Edition Pagani always mesmerized the world. Remember when Pagani released the first R monster, the Zonda R? No one was ready for the superiority of the screaming unsilenced 12 cylinder engine tuned to perfection.

At the wheel are the Pagani test drivers, who are professional pilots 👍
And this IIRC is with some valves closed - making a "mere" 110 dB. At full tilt it makes 135 dB, which means it's 10 x louder than some very loud firecrackers, and continuously screaming at that. I wouldn't be surprised if the very earth shook from that sound.
I hope someday I can hear this car without restrictions, hoping not to fry the videocamera microphone...

The pagani V12 sounds like it is revving way past 9000rpm and has a great sounding tuned exhaust set up.
3:34 you can notice how he's already braking but the engine sound isn't gone until a few secs later, just as lighthing in thunderstorms

1050kg? That thing will accelerate and lap so fast. I can't wait to hear of lap times at the Nordschleiffe.
On the other hand there might be noise limit restrictions there. It was a problem with the Zonda R. Too loud to run at some tracks.
With mufflers, the sound limit of the Huayra R is 110db which is the maximum limit recognized in the most important European tracks. I don't know at the Nurburgring if they adopt this rule. And even if the limit is lower, they might make an exception, don't you think? 😅

I love how after 20 years of making Zondas and Huayra's finally they make a proper V12 that sounds nice and they get all the praise. Yes.... Finally their car sounds like a 15 year old Murcielago LP640 but the poor LP640 never got the credit for the sound it had back in 15 years ago.

Back in the day there were multiple good sounding sport/supercars. Now in 2022 this is special, between all the muffled V8’s and smaller engines, very small hybridized engines and no-engines ( electric cars)
Believe me real car fanatics will always have big respect for the legendary cars. Like that Murcielago, the F1, F40 etc.

The engine was newly designed at HWA and is produced in collaboration with them. So no direct connection to AMG here, even tho its a NA V12 and was developed in Affalterbach. But very nice video!👍
