I put a set of Martin Luxe strings on my Gibson J-45 and took them off in 7 days! I put Elixer Nanoweb's back on. I found the tone of the Martin string ok, however, they were like sandpaper on my fingers. I also found them more difficult to install as they are very stiff!
I believe they require a bit more of a break in period. I can see what you're saying from your experience, but I'd say after a while, they were broken in fine for me.
the age of your old strings may also be a factor and shows the big difference. I suggest when you do a comparison that you'd do an A/B test with both sets new or have the same playing time on the guitar you're using
@@Electric.Flamingo They last super long before you have smudges on your fingertips. I played mine for a few months now and now after playing all day in the summer heat (we had 28 degree celcsius today) i had black smudges. So i can say now, that these last as long as elixirs and martin lifespan 2.0´s and they perform well.
The Ernie Balls sound good. But the Martins seem to have fuller harmonics without losing clarity. I wonder how long they last... A very impressive test, thank you. Unfortunately over here in Italy they cost €50, so although my acoustic is begging for new strings at the moment, I'm going to have to pass...
Is 20USD expensive in the USA? Dont think i have ever seen packs of strings for acustic cost less than 15-20 usd in the stores where i live, and then its the lesser known brands.
@@Electric.Flamingo makes a lot of sense, i just had a look at the cheapest price i could find and i stand corrected. It was 12$ converted to usd for nylon strings. I like this video, it will make me think an extra time before just buying the closest/ceapest one next time.

I really liked how those sounded. Picked up a set, thanks
They feel as good as they sound! Glad I could help! ⚡️🦩
black smudges are more likely to come from strings that aren't coated. I will 100% buy coated strings over non-coated. Elixir is my go to brand.
Interesting. If these are coated (not seen the black smudges yet) they don't feel like it.

@dominikprauseguitar I have had them on here for a bit and they are still going strong, so I can attest to that as well. Very impressed!
Strings make such a huge difference on acoustic guitars. It's completely disturbing lol.
They really do. And these make a huuuuge difference!
Ooh! I usually use D'addario XS strings on my acoustics but I might give these a try they sounded lovely!
I play D'addario electric strings but I don't know if I have ever played their acoustics. The Martin ones are definitely amazing!
I put Ernie Ball Regular Slinky's electric strings on my acoustic.
Now that's interesting. How's that sound?
@@Electric.Flamingo loud and proud lol
@@Electric.Flamingo I like it. I guess that's all that matters.
Yeah, man! ⚡️🦩
@Electric.Flamingo maybe you can do a video on that in the future?

That's what I'm testing now is how long they last. Thanks for checking out the video! ⚡️🦩

It's "expensive" when you normally use packs that are $5 - $7, if that makes sense.
