  • I demoed a wright stander ZK 72 inch with dual wheels and got it stuck in mud. I wanted to test out this mower because of the deck size and the dual wheel option on steep banks.

    I own multiple standers and a zto. I love them, they are tanks, ultra productive and the support from wright is phenomenal. I've had lots of other machines over the years but there's a reason my entire fleet is Wright now. I would love to try a dual wheel 72!

    There is definitely a practical use for this mower!!! Especially for a piece of cut that you are doing there for the city! We are buying one for a larger commercial lot we do and it is perfect for this type of application! We have ONLY ever been Wright mowers! Best product ever.

    Haven't read comments, but with the acreage you mentioned, I would say Wright zx 72 like this, the duallys will help in the wet areas of the acreage, except for pot holes that swallow mowers like you found, LOL. I would think the hustler 104 would be a contender, but also definitely a Ventrac. I have seen a local school here with nearly a 40° 45° slope (in all seriousness) use the Ventrac, I watched the guy drive it from the bottom turn up the hill and go right on up no problem. The Hustler 104s and Ventracs are in the same price category, $23-$30k. But you have been saying you wanted to get more into landscaping and not just mowing....well with acreage, steep slopes, and for multipurpose machine, strongly consider Ventrac. For just mowing, this Wright would be the next step price wise before going into $20s Even at 104" I think $23-$30k is rediculous for a ztr. My 2.7 cents. Lol

    That ZK is a beast of a mower. You can't ask for a better mower, dual wheels large deck, speed and it holds a large amount of gas. The ZK is a match for those fields. My company use Wright Standers and they are Awesome.

    I have a Wright 52” and I could not be happier. The brand is more than reliable and by the sounds of it, you need a mower of that size.

    Demoed a 52 and 61 from our dealer in VA for a whole week last Fall. Both units very maneuverable , tight and compact. Comparing one to the other was like comparing a F450 and an F650. huge difference. Ground speed was amazing and hugged a hillside. Only downsides I saw were 1) really need large acreage to mow quickly , our biggest property is only 12 acres. and 2) our guys use stand-on's for pushing huge piles of leaves in Fall. we currently run Toro Grandstands , that have a flat front deck you can push leaf piles with. The Wright has a 45 degree angle in front of deck, and constantly rode up on piles of leaves, did not push. Was a pretty big downside from my guys. Still is my decision and i will get one as soon as I have property size that can justify expense. (could of grabbed the ZK61 demo for 8500 with only 61 hrs on it) Those mowers are built tough and the originator of the stand on. Hours and keeping out in the weather is what kills those mowers. Might be nice to have a unit built for the job, but can leave at the shop a couple days of the week when not really needed, gain a couple years use out of it down the road.

    I like larger mowing and most my mower are Exmark, but you had me sold on this new mower especially on them hills. 60 in cut sometimes still takes a while on my larger areas. 1 yard I mow 5 acres every two weeks and well, I would rather have that 72 or at least 2 of them. So yes, I would definitely buy it especially with all them acres you have to mow. I would suggest to get more than 1 for that large acreage. It just comes down to you would need a wider trailer to haul these mowers and just use that trailer for large acreage so you do not waste your time hauling the smaller mowers. Most the guys who own landscape companies around me know I like the larger yards vs them small ones they all like. I want to pick up larger yards and if I do, I would bump up to 2 72s.

  • @brandonhaskell2
    @brandonhaskell2 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I definitely think that mower is worth it. Especially for a hill like that. I always feel more comfortable going sideways on a hill opposed to straight up and down. Maybe give that a try next time start at the bottom and work your way up. Never letting your nose pointed down the hill. Pretty gnarly Hillclimb though. Keep up the good work thanks for all your videos

  • @mystorymylife9998
    @mystorymylife9998 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Trust me . I had the ZK 61 for a week. I almost bought one but I’m only mowing two days a week this year so in my case it wouldn’t be a smart investment when I already have two v rides. I think the ZK blows the v rides out the park. Everything is bigger from the pumps to the engine. However if I was to mowing major acres like you started I may lean towards a 72 zero turn

  • @malachist.pierre

  • @tyrrellroach5872
    @tyrrellroach5872 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    From a guy that has been mowing for almost 30 years if you get the 72 get the duels the side of the deck that is on the inside of your turns will tend to cut lower than the outside of the deck making your wheel base wider will help with that. With that said I have never been impressed with the cut of any 72 I have used. I find that a 52 gives the best cut but if you need bigger a 60 is a good size. If you need bigger than that go with a grounds mower which may be what you need mowing 20+acres. With that said I like the old platform v ride or the toro grandstand because they will hold a hill going across the hill like no other that I have used. And if you get in a soft situation you can hope off quickly and give a little push and most the time avoid getting stuck.

  • @logdon17
    @logdon17 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I would offer this, when buying a new mower also remember what you can get on the back end as well. That will really give you a better picture of the overall cost to you as supposed to simply looking at the purchase price. I know I have made this mistake before and realized later that resale is extremely important to remember when it comes to certain high dollar items.

  • @chrisbrandt3642
    @chrisbrandt3642 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I would say that would be a great mower for your new larger acreage yards/ fields with hills. It seems to go right up and down them fine.
    I still like Walker mowers. I see the H27i or even the H38i with a S74 deck would also be one I would demo.
    If the cut quality did not matter as much I might look at a Kobota L6060 Grand with a Rhino 2150 15' FLEX-WING ROTARY CUTTER.
    That would give you better production and you could use the tractor in the winter with a Kage Snowplow for you big lots. Rhino are you and Kubota listening?

    We mow government manufacturers, schools, large estates, and large apartments all the way down to what I call "postage stamp" accounts. I am intrigued by the stander 72 but I would only put it on smaller accounts. The reason why is that the physical beating you would go through mowing large properties. Believe it or not we use a 72 " on all the accounts but two. You pick what you feel is the best fit for your company. For us it has been Hustler Turf 72 inch, Dixie chopper 50 hp diesel and 36 hp gas 72 inch but the overall biggest production mower we have is the exmark 72" triton, this machine kills everything we have ever had . The Dixie 50hp takes it for thick bush hog work. By the way our Exmark 72 triton is eight years old and still is top dog. Good luck

    Looks like a solid choice for that type of mowing at a good price point. Ferris has a 72" stander now but the dual wheels and it being a wright will probably be better on hills. Ferris seems to have a slightly better deck but the ZK would be my choice for what your doing.

No fun, got pretty scraped up.

    I don’t know a lot about wright mowers
    But I do know from running scag mowers for 15 years that the turf tiger will hold any hill with ease. With the bigger acreage you have the bigger the deck the better. Its only gonna save you time and money to go with a bigger deck.
    The stander however I think is safer because if you had to you can bail off off it faster vs a sit down mid mount mower.

    With the acreage you are mowing I think a sit down mower would be more practical. Something like a Ventrac. Not only could you use it to mow but it would aid you on your landscaping side as well. A ventrac would not be as fast but I believe they have a large deck available than a 72". I do not think you should buy the Wright. But it is your decision.

      Here is a video Stan Genetic did with the ventrac, I'm not trying to support Stan's channel but he did a factory tour and operated the mower on a 45 degree slope. th-cam.com/video/g5BPno0LRoY/w-d-xo.html

    For huge areas like shown here. Why not get a Hustler 104? And use the 52’s on the steep stuff.

    If you are thinking about bigger properties and steep slopes, you should demo a Ventrac. There's nothing else like it! (Other than Steiner)

    Do you prefer riding mowers or standing mowers

    Yes, you said you have got some good acreage this year, if not this one, then you need a big deck mower in your fleet to make this happen.

    Brian... with all of that acreage, standers are going to get very tiresome. Look at a large Ferris zero turn with shocks and springs all around, a 72 inch deck, and a 36 hp motor or even the diesel model. Or, go with a 4 wheel drive compact tractor with a big deck, for the best hill climbing and a real anti-mud fighter.

      What are you really needs for them big properties it's about a 45 horse tractor and a 9 foot pull behind finish mower

      Drew, I agree your suggestion is even better yet, but is really getting spendy, for new equipment. Plus you are losing some of the close in trimming capability that you could still have with my several suggestions.

      Agreed , large standers seem kinda silly.

      It’s a shame wright discontinued the Sentar line. They were pretty much like a ZK with a saddle seat on a shock absorber. Now the only saddle mowers they have are the sport which only has a small gas tank.

    Get a Ventrac 4500 that way you can change decks and attachments opening up more opportunities
    Or for properties like that a Kubota F3690 front cut mower
    Still great cut, 4wd plus more deck options

    You should demo one of the 12 foot ground master mowers. For a time saver.

    How long would the property take to complete with what you already own? Someone mentioned getting a tractor with a 9' finish mower. The tractor would open many more money making opportunities with the multitude of attachments such as a stump grinder.

    What a beast!!! If I had a bigger yard I think Wright would be my choice...
