Standing lawnmowers are a thing in the US, they work like a zero-turn mower. I haven't used one but I believe people like them since they aren't as large and cumbersome as a normal zero-turn

The fact that you're standing can make it more dangerous though especially on hills and I wouldn't want to be on a standing mower for more than 3 hours that seems like it would suck
@@matthewmorgan582 It’s good for people who mainly do residential lawns since they’re not on the mower for a long time and because it makes it easy to get off the mower quickly to grab something.
They are usually the same or pretty close to the size of zero turns.

I used a standing lawn mower for a long time. It helps a lot with hills since the cg is so low. Keeps me from rolling the mower.

I will say, I’m not sure how I feel about TH-cam giving me lawn mowing ads after watching this series.
I bought 2 arches of flat land pure grass! I go out on my mowers twice a month to cut it. Ive been thinking about adding trees and gardens just to up the difficulty, ya know? Living the life!
I use the same mower, scag v-ride 2 as a backup to the walker 48 I mainly use. Its a nice mower to just hop on and do a small quick lawn but the stand up mowers wear you down faster than the sit downs. Mowers like the walker are the least impactful

Standing ones are better for your back unless you have an air ride seat
I belive standing mowers are more meant to cut around the edge and throw the grass chipping onto the lawn where you then run it over with your other mower. Because of the turning radius of 0 it's easier to go around with the standing mower than your normal lawnmower

In a professional setting, you'd change the striping by about 45 degrees every time you mow so that you don't start creating grooves in the ground from the mower going over the same spot constantly, it also allows the grass to get the proper sun light so that one side isn't in the sun more then the other, and it allows you to cut it to the proper height because front rollers will pull it up better for the blade.

Nup not so. There's no issue from the tyres either in what you say or compaction. Even on boggy ground. Anyone who mows lawns for a living knows the ground is always moving in contraction & expansion as it gets wet or dries. In winter any tracks run over the same on each mow will disappear as soil dries. As for the sun this makes no sense as there's plenty of refraction & reflection. If there wasn't the grass would do what pot plants do & grow towards the sun & would be most evident with the stalky types in spring, including daisies. I have never seen grasses do this. Cutting from a different angle when a blade of grass sits north or south or any other way, will still get the sun on the sunny side however again refraction comes into play. Where did you get this sun side idea from ?

I think your issue with speed may be if you are playing on a computer using a keyboard. If you are using a keyboard, depressing the keys will always use full throttle speed by default design. If you want to control your speed, you should get a USB or wireless controller for your computer. Fast lawnmowers are almost uncontrollable if you cannot control the speed manually, especially when you need speed control around obstacles such as flowerbeds and trees.
They've added cruise control for Mouse and Keyboard operators.

It is infact mostly an American thing to stand on your lawn mower.
EDIT: mostly used by public workers to keep the tight grassy patches in cities clean.
Actually what you do is mow.. then line trim where your mower doesn't go.. then you blow the clippings away with a backpack blower. There is more to it. Sometimes you need to use and edger which makes a shitty mess. So then you mow it over and blow it off. And then there is the shrubs. Landscaping is a thing. California is Banning all gas powered yard equipment. I hope they enjoy the jungle.

Why aren't you just using the mower to blow the clippings towards the center so you can go over them with it? Also...Line trimming? I'm guessing that's weedeating?

These mowers that you stand behind are called walk behinds or like he said a standing mower, a lot of people use them for steep hillsides and for tight places a zero-turn can fit in. They are very common in the US, and they make a standing platform that you can attach to the back of the walk behind. (They also make a chair but I would not recommend it.) the walk behinds are better for smaller lawns and zero-turns are better for bigger lawns. If someone needed to see this your welcome!

Standing mowers are amazing. Almost impossible to tip. And are surprisingly comfortable.

This “simulator” is not true to what actually happens while using these mowers. I ran a crew years ago using Exmark’s and you would NEVER have to pick up freakin grass clippings from the yard with a side discharge.. they are designed to blow clippings back and forth from row to row until they almost disappear. Only leaving grass on walkways to get rid of with backpack blower. Someone needs to make a REAL lawn mowing simulator. I played this for about 2 hours and was bored with the lack of realism. It’s decent, just not nearly decent enough for lawn dirtbags like me. And who the Fk needs someone to put arrows on the lawn to show me which direction my roller works for fk sake.
