I subbed right after you said "go fishing and PICK UP SOME TRASH" thank you. some people weren't raised good enough to stop trashing places. it takes 1 jerk to get an area posted. because of trash. great videos.

I can speak to hooded shirts, particularly the huge fly fisherman ones. I absolutely love mine because it's super comfy AND I become more huge. Plus I need Ben to make more videos reminding me how much better I am than everyone else because I fly fish, so I bought a shirt.

I relocated from BC to New Zealand a couple years ago and came across the NZ indicator. It’s brilliant and I’m sure you can get them back up in N/A . Much easier and more graceful to cast than air-locks. A lot of you HUGE fly anglers will enjoy them

As a bank angler, wading staff. Even if you're not wading, the option to have an extra point of contact when hiking and climbing to different spots is a huge asset.

@@adamhorn8414I’ve used my long handle net occasionally as a wading staff. But from now on, it’s an old ski pole that drags behind me as I fish. I started using it when I was about 50, but should’ve started much sooner. Really helps me get around if I’m in the river or not. My favorite non-fly fishing fly fishing thing is fingerless gloves for cold weather (just get the Walmart kind for $5 in the bike isle…no need to spend $75 on the simms/patagonia/orvis ultra glove 9000). Nothing brutalizes my hands more than a cold rod or wading staff during the hike in. The gloves start to lose their effectiveness a bit as your hands slowly get wet from the line but usually the sun’s coming up and warming things by that point anyway. You can also tuck hand warmers into the top of each glove if you’re so inclined.

Watched a significant bull trout eat a big pink airlock strike indicator this fall. I was reaching down to untangle my guests leader from the indicator when a bull trout grabbed it from me. It was pretty cool and left bite marks in the new foam design. I thought we may have actually had him hooked because the egg pattern was tangled near the bobber but no such luck he got off after holding on for over 30 seconds.

An earlier comment about a wading staff reminded me of mine (8 steel sections w an elastic cord up the middle). I bought one two seasons back. It came with a cork handle and a tiny compass. That all broke off in the lot. I put the remains in the hatch. Later, I cleaned off the glue and cork bits. I measured the diameter of the steel sections of the staff, found soft rubber mountain bike grips on the line, bought them, and worked one down to the third section from the top, and the other onto the top section. Perfect. Top grip for the river, lower grip as you climb the vertical banks out of the river. Bought a tough nylon holster for it at Home Depot that has a Huge Velcro strap for attaching it to my (wader or regular) belt.

How long till they degrade? I doubt the screw part degrades. How about a piece of cork?. the original indicator, but it isn't really a float to hold your fly up, was some hi viz fly line threaded over the leader. Never lost one. You have to ask yourself, at least if you aren't a guide, how much do you need to injure another fish, at the cost of more trash in the rivers.

There was a scientific study performed in the late 90s, Field and Stream referenced it. Sparkle or flash from shiny watches/ rings/ jewelry , shiny equipment like hemostats or reels or sunglasses will spook fish and put them down (bright clothing also)

OROS not as good IMO. they often slip and that little rubber washer on the AIR LOCK serves a great purpose when locked down . it stays locked down. My only complaint is that both companies should make a smaller version for small nymphs, so you can see the slightest bump.

New indicators are great but they are a bit pricey.

Oros indicator is a much better design than the air lock....which was still a better design than the traditional indicator. Those little rings on the air lock drive me nuts....I guess I suck at fly fishing.
