It’s actually safer to wait for Haru to Self Destruct, especially on Hard and Merciless, where her endurance is increased. Her defenses don’t lower when she attempts to self destruct, so unless you have enough HP or brought an Endure passive skill OR have everyone charged up and read to nuke, DON’T do it. Letting her blow herself up doesn’t affect the story that much, and she doesn’t respawn like the minions.

Because this came when I was around finishing the palace I fused a persona with Dekaja and Dekunda, inherited charge to one of my personas, and crafted consumables to destroy Okumura, so thanks for that
Persona fans who played 4 should be familiar with alternating between single and multi hit elemental skills. It’s tempting to constantly use the multi hit skills all the time, I know, but it didn’t take me long to figure out that strategy of alternating between single and AOE at least until I got over leveled anyways. I get why new players would be really confused though. The game maybe could have given this information as a tip at some point in the game.
I would say Persona 3 as well, but the once more works differently from what I recall. Correct me if I’m wrong but Once more doesn’t seem to trigger with AOE elemental attacks even if you do knock down an enemy, that’s just how I remember it. But that point aside the AI party members aren’t smart enough to do a bunch of single hit spells followed by an AOE. This isn’t me shitting on the whole you can’t control your party members thing that everyone likes to complain about in 3, but it does lessen the potential “strategies that you can pull off in 4 and 5”. But since you heal HP and SP every time you go back to the entrance of Tartarus I suppose that would make the game a little too easy.
Aside from switching from Hard to Merciless, this is exactly what I've been doing the whole the time. My characters don't put out enough damage to get past the green tank wave, despite 99% of standard encounters being pushovers at that point and previous bosses always telegraphed the hell out of their big party wiping attacks. The difficulty spike is insane and due to the time management aspect of the game there's not much you can do to rectify any choices that didn't prepare you for this moment.
@@Oziach 43 for Joker, Ann, and Yusuke, 42 for everyone else. I didn't spend much time on permanent stat boosts or focusing on confidant levels for their skills (just the story arcs I was more interested in) because up to this point the game seemed easy enough that I didn't think I would need to.
That's odd. I've helped people beat that boss using this strat while they were about Level 35 across their party, so it's far from impossible to dish out that damage, I'll say that much. I'd honestly just say keep refining the strat. It's absolutely more than possible, though I don't want to just spam here asking what buffs you've been using or stuff like that. Just wishing you luck. 👍👍
@@Oziach Well I beat him without changing from Hard mode. All this time I time I thought that spells increasing or lowering "defense" only affected physical attacks since most RPGs specify physical and magic defense as different stats and because there were also spells in P5 that specifically block one or the other and ones reduce or cancel out damage from certain elements, so I never really thought of using that debuff in conjunction with the baton pass weakness exploit. At least I don't have to learn that lesson in a mainline SMT now.
I beat this boss first try :) With 30 seconds left... Brutal honesty, I didn't actually grasp a single mechanic the fight threw at me, I just brute forced it
The fact that you made this video demonstrates that most people who got here were just watching the games story until they had to interact with the mechanics.
@@floatsyourgoats6200 please tell me what it is about this boss that evokes the concept of difficulty Spike to you. I seriously don't understand what about this boss came across as difficult given that you have to be at least level 40 to 45 for this encounter. this is the fifth boss of the game, why shouldn't it be difficult or require more out of the box thinking. Honestly isn't that much different from Madarame's painting and multiforms
Turns out there's one more key tip that can be added! If the sacrifice order tactic is used on a robot, then for the wave said robot is in, if you kill all the other robots and the sacrifice robot performs its sacrifice, then the game will treat the sacrifice as a KO robot and not as a runaway robot. In other words, you technically need to kill only 3 robots in the wave and not the sacrifice. Just make sure the sacrifice attack doesn't kill Joker! That's exactly what got me to lose in the green robot phase on my first of two tries in taking down Okumura in Royal! And as for proof of this tactic, it's confirmed on the SMT wiki and recently by Hololive EN's Hakos Baelz (Bae) on her 05/07/23 stream. She is streaming P5R and took down Okumura in one try. One. Try. And the sacrifice tactic I mentioned is exactly how she got through the green bot phase. Edit: Oh, and beating Okumura without the Merciless difficulty is possible. I did so on normal in two tries, and Bae did the same but in one try. Granted, she did use the Kaguya DLC Persona to help out, but the fight was still close with 6:12 minutes left.
The sacrifice order tip is really interesting! And yeah, beating them outside of Merciless isn't difficult at all. I actually have made it a habit to try and ignore every piece of advice I said here whenever refighting him just to prove that it's always totally doable if you strategize right! This is simply a guide for the people who want to just power through the boss if they're frustrated, lol.

THAT'S TERRIFYING
Man im just standing at the elevator looking up guides, i think im frucked
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
I just played on Safe, so now I have a palace of sloth. Send your calling cards!
Izanagi No Okami: I sleep
Finding out the green robots are weak to curse and having a alarm Magatsu Izanagi with Magatsu Mandala and Sword dance:
*you need proper punishment...*
Yu: *Is this some kind of a joke that I'm too good at seeing truth to understand?*
Great video as always Oziach!!
Took me forever to do but i’m so happy I found this guide! Thank you so much!
Because this came when I was around finishing the palace I fused a persona with Dekaja and Dekunda, inherited charge to one of my personas, and crafted consumables to destroy Okumura, so thanks for that
👍👍
Ugh thank you I've been stuck on this fight for a week
Did this help at all? 😁
@@Oziach yes very much thank you alot At first I could never get past the blue lanky robots after watching this I beat it imeditly
Thank you for this guide, it really helped!
I spent... 4 DAYS, on this boss fight. I'VE HAD IT WITH OKUMURA
That slap okumura sound effect is satisfying
"Izanagi-No-Okami Picaro!"
"By the Myriad Truths!"
There's actually a ton more you can do that isn't mentioned here. I just kept this one pretty short and sweet.
How high level are you?
Me: I use Myrid Truths
Oziach: Let me explain
I beat this boss first try :)
With 30 seconds left...
Brutal honesty, I didn't actually grasp a single mechanic the fight threw at me, I just brute forced it
HOW
This boss took me 2 weeks to beat.
Scratch that I’m still working on defeating it
YOOO THIS HELPED ME SO MUCH
THANK YOU!! all the other tips I tried to follow just had me fuse a bunch of useless personas and hope for the best.
👌❤
The fact that you made this video demonstrates that most people who got here were just watching the games story until they had to interact with the mechanics.
P5R is way too easy for 99% of the game, so you're absolutely correct. This fight isn't impossible by any means, it's just slightly more challenging.
No, people got here by doing exactly what the game demanded of them to get by. Which wasn't even remotely close to what Okumura demands.
Honestly isn't that much different from Madarame's painting and multiforms
thanks man it took me 16 tries trying to brute force it this really helped
I just used almighty attacks after my first failed run and became happy
Thank you comrade!
👍👍❤
@@Oziach 👍👍❤
i felt so proud beating the twins on merciless, i feel betrayed
Pain
0:33 So that’s the reason I’m stuck with him for 3hours on hard but somehow one shot him in merciless :l
How to Really beat Okumura
Step One: Switch to Safe difficulty
Step Two: Spend the rest of your life on an unbeatable save file constantly retrying the fight until you somehow break the laws of the universe and win
Oh yeah and I almost forgot Step :): slap Okumura
bro that neck is making me feel a certain way
Making you feel somethin special
What I did for the 2nd to last guy is constantly use electric attacks (spells, and items) and get him stunned and shoot the living hell out of him for massive technical damage on merciless
Smart idea!
thanks bro i was actually surprised how easy it was cuz i was failing before this strat.
" OH MY GOD STOP FUCKING RUNNING AWAY " was 90% of my runs against this boss.
