I know i have commented before, but for a 33yr old who has had zero experience with bikes, and have only just learnt to ride a 125cc pit bike, this channel, and you have taught me so much, and has given me confidence to give it a go with repairs/maintience, and cleaning em up! First video i ever watched and heard someone mentions oil coming from weep/inspection hole. Everyone else just says look for coolant and thats it as if oil cant come through there also. Nice vid
Thanks so much, my dad usually teaches me things about cars and trucks, but its hard to know where stuff is and how to change the things like coolant on a bike. This video helped me alot, thanks again. (I just got my first bike a couple days ago so yeah😂)
I’m needing to change the coolant on my KTM 400. Haven’t done it before so I figured I’d just look it up. And what’s crazy is I already went and got the coolant my nearest bike shop recommended for that bike and it’s the same you have! New subscriber here
I bought a new bike in 2020 (2020kx250) and have only put a few hours on it but i noticed the coolant is a bit low i dont know what type of coolant the dealer filled it with originally so i dont want to top it off with engine ice should i do a full flush and just replace it all?

I don’t take the drain bolt fully out I take it about half way out so it doesn’t go everywhere, and I also run the bike for a minute or so with the cap off to bleed the system and the top it up if needed and then put the cap back on obviously and then it’s fit to ride

3 years late, but if you plan to run wngine ice, always flush your radiator with distilled water. you flush it cause engine ice doesn’t go well with other coolant, and you use distilled water because there is no harsh minerals in it unlike tap.
just got a 2018 crf250r and the first day i got it i was letting it warm up and i went inside to figure out how to change the mapping. I let it warm too long and ended up overheating it and the anti-freeze expanded and came rushing out the overflow. the good thing is i had just came outside when it started releasing so i immediately shut the bike off. it scared the shit out of me but i ended up just having to put water in the radiators and now its fine.

Bret Scudder should be. Check owner’s manual for any other boots to loosen. On my 17 KTM 250 there is a bolt on top of the head that needs to loosen to help get air out of the system as well as the drain bolt. Also rock the bike back and forth after putting new coolant in that help get rid of air pockets.
My coolant keeps bubbling out the overflow and the level is not full ever. Theres also a little air pressure under the cap when i take it off to check, what does this mean?
