I don’t hold resentment and rarely will I submit to fear. My view of the world is shaped by more than just negative experiences... and there have been plenty. Past two years, alone, have hurt me in ways I don’t care to mention. Despite those things I still strive to see beauty, each Day I breathe is potentially an amazing one. Your mind is more than half the battle. I refuse to let anger, bitterness, negativity reside in mine. Doesn’t mean I don’t feel it from time to time. I just refuse to reside in it. I’m more than my blindness, more than my situation. more than just the colour of my skin, stating that doesn’t mean I’m not proud of the skin I’m in. That’s why I identify with the quotes.

Great interview and I’m glad you enjoyed Singapore. But I do want to point something out regarding the title of this video. I’m a Chinese-American born and raised in USA who grew up as a minority just like black Americans or other non-whites, so I’ve struggled with a lot of similar obstacles such as identity crisis, racism, etc. I really enjoyed Singapore and feel I was given a lot of benefits for being ethnically Chinese. Sometimes people liked that I was American, but I feel that being ethnically Chinese gave me a form of privilege in Singapore. HOWEVER, if I point out to how I suffered from “Chinese privilege”, it does not seem to evoke the same positive reactions from people as when you point out here that you suffer from “black privilege”. Maybe it’s because Chinese are the majority in Singapore and “Chinese privilege” is a bit more of a touchy subject (similar to “white privilege” in USA) as opposed to “black privilege” where it can be seen as less touchy or maybe even sarcastic in some ways. Anyway, sorry if any of that seemed sensitive as I truly do not mean to offend. I must say that I REALLY enjoyed hearing your experience! This interview was highly informative and a lot of the things you said resonated a lot with myself. I am so glad you’ve enjoyed living in Singapore as I’m considering moving there too. :)
I think the big difference is that it is generally accepted there is no such thing as “black privilege” - quite the opposite. While there is “Chinese privilege” - not equal to white but still established one in a smaller scale. Also his “privilege” really comes from his mindset and experiences not just being a member of a certain ethnicity. As you mentioned please forgive me if you find anything I said offensive - I think it is worth a discussion.
@@samyueldanyo8679 I think there's Western Black privilege in Asia though. As soon as they hear his British accent, he becomes a Westerner to them, not an African.
Depends who you mention the Chinese privilege to. Local chinese will not take kindly to it as they are unawares. But non-locals will happily agree with you. I’m from Malaysia and my gosh , SG’s Chinese privilege (in a same context you’d highlight white privilege in USA) is insane. Many decisions are made around Chinese thinking. So most toilets don’t have bidet etc
The White privilege of the 18th to 20th centuries is no longer robust. And black privilege, while growing, is far from where it will be in the 22nd century. This fine gentlemen benefits from what he offers as an individual not via his skin color.
Excellent and fantastic talk. Great perspective of a melanated person not originally from the region that is navigating it from a business, creative, social and cultural view. Also great talk between two melanated men that is not about foolishness, defeatist, victim mentality, but knowing and establishing your space in reality.

I feel the EXACT same way outside of the states. Being Black has been a huge advantage for me. Especially in Asia. Great Interview. People definitely need to hear this side of the experience as well.
There are some trolls who come to this channel and constantly question why is it that blacks would rather leave America and go to Asia then to return to Africa. Being black in Asia gives us Black men an advantage because there are so few of us there. Black culture sells. A black man in Africa - and I have visited Africa before-does not stand out as well as a black man at Asia. Imagine going to a country with people who look differently than you and are culturally different than you, but they actually appreciate you and they aren’t trying to ride one horseback to lynch you to a tree. Or the modern day equivalent of “lynching“: some white cop shooting you or harassing you for being in a place where they feel that you shouldn’t be because of your skin color. And that is the reason why I preferred to vacation anywhere in Asia that to travel anywhere in America.
Bradley Gaju The problem with building something in Africa is that unlike Asia Africa in many cases has a lot of economic problems that are caused by countries outside of it. Spanish and French colonization for example has left those countries in a lot of debt. That is part of the reason why I am so proud of the South Africans for rising up against the Afrikaners/farmers. Those people used apartheid to steal the South Africans land and my rising up and killing them off they took it back. So in order to get back at them the racists in Europe impose economic sanctions on them and the only way around those sanctions is using cryptocurrency. What I love about China is that China is completely untouchable by America because America’s economy as well as it’s white supremacist leaders have lost their power. China is literally taking over all of Asia and Southeast Asia if they haven’t already. They are quickly marginalizing America and flexing their economic muscle in ways were even Donald Trump’s trade war was considered a joke by them. I lived in China to start learning Mandarin and business in China. When China ends up taking over the world and white supremacist America is completely obliterated I will be one of the heads at one of the tables.
So It is said so shall It be In all my flights around the world in the AirForce, no matter what Country I visited as a Black American I always let my positivity shine so when I greeted other people the first thing they saw was light.
I wonder if Ranzo ever imagined what he was creating when launching this channel. I love the way he opens discussions and his unapologetically human and flowing interviewing style.
Very Insightful and love his eloquence. Honestly not to blow my horn, I suffer from the same thing. Being black in America but the best dressed at my job with unabated compliments from coworkers to customers always makes me stand out. Hardly I walk by either on the street or at my job without customers looking at me. I at times avoid eye contacts to make them look. Yes we can stand out if we are willing too. Fun guy. His energy is contagious. He's very proud of himself and his talent. He's self assured. I enjoyed this episode.
I particularly love this interview with Butho! A lot was unpacked from a unique but resonating perspective. Thanks.
Ahh Q one of my good friends here. Always have time for him. I can spend hours talking to him.
That lavender color shirt looks great on your Ranzo
I thought the color was pink 🤯🙄🤔
@@sonofsoweto not good please have your eyes checked...
Agreed. With the white shorts. It all works well.
Preach Brother! I love this guy. Can't believe I watched the WHOLE thing. I'm going to have to try to order something from this brother, just because his hands were on it.
He had a positive attitude towards view point.
Right?! I want to visit Singapore just to meet him.
I’m coming to Singapore in July.
Making a video of Singapore Airlines Business Class for my TH-cam.
Hope to see you!!!
Welcome to Singapore from a local :D hope you have wonderful trip! Tip : Please eat local food :D
The gems oh the gems 💎 in this interview. I don't usually comment, but I had to. Definitely worth watching again, just to take notes.
Our favorite flamboyant Q is back.
Articulate and full of wisdom.
Thank you The Black Exp.
This deserves a million views. I'd watched this so many times. The knowledge and openness is real. Highly valued video full of wisdom and perspective🙏🏽
This conversation should be taught in every school. Especially predominantly black ones. Love this.
The purple shirt looks GREAT
Knowledge is truly power when you know who you are as an individual in this world. Very good message for anyone who can see outside of the the box. Good positive word !
This was probably the best interview ever. Intelligent, confident, well dressed and good looking. Lawd have mercy! 😊
Sooooo are you gay?
I can listen to this guy speak for hours and not realize that it has been hours.
I was treated like a celebrity in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand. Absolutely LOVED every minute of it!
This was a really good interview!
African American culture is huge for the Asian youth. K Pop is an example of this. It's like the biggest pop culture influence there.
Excellent and fantastic talk. Great perspective of a melanated person not originally from the region that is navigating it from a business, creative, social and cultural view. Also great talk between two melanated men that is not about foolishness, defeatist, victim mentality, but knowing and establishing your space in reality.
Great interview, valuable perspective/approach from Mr. Msimanga. From a 🇿🇦 in 🇹🇼. I'm going to apply his advice in my day to day life! Thanks!♥️
Q is so insightful and it’s a pleasure to listen to his no nonsense point of view. Thanks for your videos. I’m a black man living in the Philippines and look forward to your videos.
I really love these videos. Top quality! You never disappoint! I’m considering moving to Singapore this summer, I love to hear more experiences from black women!
Gl !just watch out for those indians
Welcome to my country
@@Lizzabitty They are highly disrespectful towards women You walk down the street and they would say all kinds of lewd thing toward you.
Save a lot of money Singapore very expensive
Why do people always want to move to countries that are not theirs? Is there something wrong with where you live?
I loved hearing this conversation with Mr. Q. His take on entering a room with fear and anxiety vs with confidence and good intentions makes sense.
It’s a lovely store and the floor is beautiful.. 💕
I BEEN waiting on this beautiful man's solo interview
Me too.
Seneo Lo me three 😅🙌🏾
I thoroughly enjoyed watching this interview. Mr. Q is a wonderful philosopher! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
This is one of your best interview and It is like 1 in a million.this man is not only a designer but a philosopher also..”what ever happened today, the sun will surely shine tomorrow.”
Another great interview! I really like Mr. Q's approach to fostering relationships and immersing yourself in the customs of others when you travel.
What an amazing episode, by far one of your best! Mr. Q is so uplifting and his positive energy is so infectious!
I have been told that I speak like a philosopher but I am way overrated when I listen to this brother.
Mr. Butho Msimanga is as much a sage and an ambassador as he is a consummate tailor.
This has GOT TO BE the BEST interview this channel has EVER conducted.
I want to go to Singapore just to meet this guy. 🥰
I love these long episodes because they have so much context and value. Q what can I say creative, intellectually savvy, businessman, father and positive trendsetter and entrepreneur. This video had so much context I had to watch it twice. Straight 🔥🔥 🔥
👊🏾
This is one of the best interviews. Butho Msimanga is multi-talented in that, he is not only a professional fashion designer, but also a philosopher, a great speaker, and a therapist. He could mentor the youth.
34:00 Discussion on the general attitudes of Singapore towards black people
Watching this is the best thing I have done this week. This man needs to write a book.
I'm glad that you make these videos. It is very informative and inspiring. Please don't stop making these videos!
My favourite TMF/BEJ interview of them all, hands down! There were a few minutes of Q in a recent video, and I know many viewers were scrambling to find the full version. Thank you!
I would enjoy an interview with his wife to hear her story.
Q, keep preaching the light of truth! Good to see a man, a being like you in the world!
Ranzo, I am so enjoying the evolution of MelanatedFiles. Your guest's conversations about their lives, histories and manifesting their dreams and goals. Their education, knowledge, talents, skills, creativity, re-inventiveness, tenacity, courage and zest for living are breath taking. Thank You so much for sharing your world with us.
Wow! out of all the interviews I watched, this the best you've done. Lots of deep thoughts and original ways of looking at things. Also, my guardian angel must have prompted me to watch this video. It totally resonated with me and was what I needed to hear. When Mr Q talked about not letting fear stop you it felt like he was talking to me directly.
Thanks, TH-cam for recommending this video. I love how he doesn't see himself as only a color or victim of it. He's very positive. This was a great interview.
Never imagined I'd see family on this channel. Thanks for featuring Mr.Q and all the other amazing interviews.
Been a subscriber for a while and have never been disappointed.
Thanks again!
I have watched nearly ALL of your episodes but this by far is ABSOLUTELY MY FAVORITE! Thank you so very much for these gifts! 💜💋💋💋💋💋💋💋💋
What a scholar Mr. Q is! He's such an inspiration! Thank you Ranzo for the things you do!
Spent sunday afternoon watching this how wise lots of good things said. Be an asset wherever you go! Well said
This designer is very knowledgeable! The conversation was deep and the reporter ask important questions as usual! He speaks nothing but the truth!! Great interview! Great video!!
ONE OF THE MOST WOKE BLACK MAN IN 2019! smh wake up ppl !!!
To your surprise actually majority of us Africans in Africa reason this way and talk this way. But I understand how stereotypical western media always wana tarnish our characteristics.
Daniel muchi mainly speaking to black Americans
Daniel muchi Given the state of africa, I totally see why.
This was so easy to watch! Can’t wait to visit his store
I need to get on the CLOUD9 this guy Lives on!!!
Best heading I've EVER SEEN for any Video
Glad 2 hear it!
These interviews are really excellent. I thought I wouldn't actually listen to the entire thing, but it was so engaging that I did. Keep it up.
This is one of the best interviews you have done I have learned a lot and think your guess you need this guy back on your show for at least 2 to 3 hours
Another outstanding interview!! I look forward to the next...
Very intelligent conversation, very positive vibes. Great job
AWESOME INTERVIEW. I didn’t expect to watch the entire video but I did!! Thanks and I love that purple shirt!!
PREACH !! (1:04:44 - What we're getting from the world, is coming from us) OMG - you know an interview is gooooood when you have to comment 2x's !!!!!!
I love this interview!!!! As a global citizen myself (4 million miles) I truly understand his perspective. Good stuff!!!!
My brother went to Singapore when he was in the Navy. I'm going to Singapore one day!
I'm really enjoying the intelligent analogies that he shares. They are so positive in approaching new life experiences; I'll be coming back to this video but also finding a way to utilize it in my home school social studies curriculum. Thank you.
I feel the EXACT same way outside of the states. Being Black has been a huge advantage for me. Especially in Asia. Great Interview. People definitely need to hear this side of the experience as well.
👍🏿🔥🔥🔥🔥Hands down the most magnetic and inspiring guest I’ve seen on any show in quite some time!!!!!!
Black privalige something I don't even know what it look like 😂
There are some trolls who come to this channel and constantly question why is it that blacks would rather leave America and go to Asia then to return to Africa.
Michelle R
Totally agree
@@PassportBrosBusinessClass What is "black ideas?"

The problem with building something in Africa is that unlike Asia Africa in many cases has a lot of economic problems that are caused by countries outside of it.
@Black To Grace That's what the entire channel is about, not just this specific speech if you read the the comment with your eyes open

This is the top 3 interviews you have conducted. This guy is extremely well informed.
Am Zambian,Zimbabweans speak so eloquently ♥️👌🏾
So It is said so shall It be In all my flights around the world in the AirForce, no matter what Country I visited as a Black American I always let my positivity shine so when I greeted other people the first thing they saw was light.
This interview was my first share on Facebook for all the right reasons. THANK YOU very much for this interview. Love from Saint Lucia and Canada
I wonder if Ranzo ever imagined what he was creating when launching this channel. I love the way he opens discussions and his unapologetically human and flowing interviewing style.
I appreciate the kind words Adrian 🙏🏿
This guy is a great motivator! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm so proud of this guy and also encouraging me to still go on with my blackness & pride
What a great interview! He echoed so many sentiments I feel but he did it so much more eloquently than I could. Whew! So good!
The kind of wisdom this guy has is so ammazing ! Thank you im happy to be black in Asia !
