Definitely makes me want to go for the Z-mount lenses where possible. I wonder if the issues are as pronounced with the higher grade F-mount lenses or it's mostly seen with the cheaper F-mount lenses.

@@theCameraVille I'm definitely going to get the 24-70mm f4 (don't really need the f2.8, and the price difference is just too big to get it just because I want it), and will also save for the 35mm, 50mm, and 85mm. Not sure about the wide angle lenses. Heard a lot of good things about Laowa's 15mm f2, so thinking about going that way. Telephoto lenses are just too expensive when it comes to the Z lenses. When I break through as a top professional photographer, who everyone wants to hire, I'll get all the Z lenses 😄 but it seems that the prices are justified for the most part.
Insane thing is that just getting the Nikon Z5 improved the image quality insanely for me. Had the Fujifilm X-T3, and when I compare the images I shot with my Voigtlander lenses in the X-T3 to the Nikon Z5 there's a huge difference. Not just in the obvious APS-C to FF, but also in sharpness, detail, and so on. The Z-system really seems to have a lot going for it.

    • @theCameraVille
      @theCameraVille  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@theCameraVille Fun story, I was actually planning to buy into Olympus and/or Panasonic, mostly for the built and IBIS, allowing me more versatility (for what I'm doing image quality is less important), and I only had the Z-system as a possible option to consider instead. But to my luck (?) where I live it's literally impossible to get any of the newer MFT cameras, and even used I had a hard time to find anything of interest. So I ended trying out the Z5, and I was blown away!
The really annoying part of this is how "influencers" actually do manage to influence you. For some reason I've got this idea that the Z5 was a "cheaper" built compared to the Z6. And while that might be the case, comparing the feel of the Z5 to the X-T3 is like night and day. It just feels more substantial. I'm less concerned using it in more demanding situations now, than my biased ideas would allow me to think it would be. It annoys me that though I'm aware of bias and the negative perceptions you can get from reviewers on TH-cam (no offense, in the general sense), it still got to me.
People have been trashing Nikon for the Z5, but truth to be told, for a lot of people it is the perfect full frame mirrorless camera. When you don't need a high number of frames per seconds, and you're not doing any serious video stuff, and the top LCD screen is not something you absolutely must have, and so on, then the Z5 is really an amazing camera for a very affordable price. Compared to the Canon RP it offers so much more for an entry level camera. Nikon has been smart about the Z-system, very smart. For people who can't see beyond their own subjective needs and requests, then obviously it might seem differently, but why in the world are they reviewers on TH-cam then?
Sorry for the rant, I'm just so fucking happy about finally getting here, and finally finding what seems to be the perfect camera for me. With the compact 28mm and 40mm lenses they're supposed to release, I'm just in heaven.

I recently got a barely used (NIB return) 50 1.8 S at B&H. Works great but the AF motor is audibly louder than that of my 20-70 f4 S and my 35mm 1.8 s. While the AF motor definitely has an audible wine to it, as I was trying to figure it out I noticed that the aperture "flutters" as focus changes contributing to the noise. It's most obvious if you manual focus the lens slowly. It flutters every so often. If you focus a tad bit faster it flutters even more. It's as if there some sort of crosstalk between the AF motor and the aperture motor. I don't think this is normal, but have you seen this in your copy? I'd hate to RMA a perfectly good lens if this is some sort of quirk that the lens exhibits (though my gut tells me it's a defect of this specific lens and may even be why it was originally returned).
    Thanks in advance.

Just sharpness is mainly it. Also another huge one is the adapter. Adapter can malfunction while native mount on any body wouldnt. The adapter adds more power usage from your camera. Also you cant use 3rd party battery on NikonZ, so you end up paying more for power for the adapter. Also in video focusing rattle is bad. In the near future when the Z 50 drops in price, people will end up buying it. Currently folks who dont want to pay the extra, the 50mm 1.8g is fine.

Depends on your quality needs. If you want a clean image, you got to pay for it.

Lol.. I think he is trolling. F mount isnt sharper. I wish though but no. Nikon new Z lens are all too sharp.

600 dollars vs 100 dollars. Definitely F mount.

I own both at the moment. I can see why people would go with $100 G lens but the S series offers a lot of bang for your buck . The S series offers sharp and clear images during harsh lighting condition.

I have feeling than Nikon intentionally broke the adapted lenses sharpness so that the users will slowly be forced to switch.
There is no any explanation why with every firmware update the sharpness of F lenses became worse.
I have noticed this with a landscape lens 18-35 3.5-4.5g and z6ii, shooting mostly at f8, and images suddenly became softer with new firmware.

That is quite interesting. Someone else told me that! lol.. Forcing us to switch 😤 Good thing I manually focus it after but yea, something is up.

@@theCameraVille that would be to disappointing from them. I shoot Nikon for 7 years already.
We can always downgrade the firmware I guess 😅
