Criminally low number of views for such an authentic performance with professional yet intimate and inviting visuals-like you're having us over on a sunny Saturday to swap delightful piano performances. Thanks for having us over!
You play these with so much warmth and affection, and it really shows in the sound. It's a good gift to us. Thank you for sharing your performance! I'm sure you work very very hard.
I love that you choose songs that aren't always the most well known or even the most popular. This song is so good, but FF9's soundtrack is so heavy with great songs that it often gets overlooked. I wish more musicians on youtube would do this kind of thing because there is still SO MUCH untapped music that is just as good and many times even better than those that have reached a certain level of popularity among the youtube musicians community. How many people are familiar with songs like Lonely Town (from Soul Blazer)? My Road, My Journey (Dragon Quest 2)? Birth of the People (Actraiser)? Town of Guntz (7th Saga)? What about Forever Rachel (FFVI)? What about the Shire Theme from the SNES Lord of the Rings game? Or even just from Final Fantasy IX, how many people are familiar with Jesters of the Moon? I NEVER hear that song played, yet it and Treno are among my favorites, and I don't even hear Treno played very often, and I KNOW there's sheet music out there for Sleepless City Treno as it was a part of the FFIX Piano Collections. All of these songs are so fantastic and deserve the same kind of love more popular songs like Aerith's Theme, Dovahkiin, Rainbow Cruise, or The Great Fairy Fountain get. A real musician will broaden their horizons and work to expand what people know in music. Sometimes that means inventing new genres, but it can also mean playing music people aren't familiar with, whether that's by writing their own music or by covering music that to them was underappreciated and meant something to the covering artist to shed light on the original. I've seen you do this both to Uematsu with songs like this, and also for Mitsuda and some of his lesser known Chrono Trigger songs, and even a couple days ago when you covered a lesser known song from the Nutcracker Suite. I hope you keep it up by covering more songs that are outside those 'greatest hits' everyone continuously asks for because it's one of the bigger reasons I'm such a fan of you, and I can't wait to see more! It makes you different, in that while everyone plays Aerith's theme because it is legitimately one of the most beautiful songs written for a video game, if they want to hear something that is just as good, but different, they have to come to your channel to listen to a high quality performance of Daguerreo
Thank you so much for this nice comment! It didn't go unnoticed. I just wrote out a comment to you and it got deleted before I could send it D: well I was just saying that this one is one of the pieces I put on a disc for Uematsu when I met him at Distant Worlds! It's one of my favorites. My piano was also incredibly in tune for this recording XD
This is the best book of all Piano Collections. And these arrangement is just amazing. The original theme is so simple, and the arrangement is incredibly rich. Good cover!
This is one of my favorite themes I recorded, I'm sad to see so few views on it! haha. I actually copied this to a disc and gave it to Uematsu when I met him :)
Good music uses to have few views XD it's sad but truth. FFIX has the best OST of all Uematsu music in my opinion (I think it's also his favorite). But specially this theme is amazing, what a great arrangement.
I bought FF IX on Steam a while ago and just installed it. Daguerreo is one of my favorite places in the game. Always evokes that feeling of discovery from the "secret" places on the old games. And of course, the "Oh yeah, big swords", since is one of the first places you can get greatswords with Holy Knight/Paladin skills for Steiner. Beautifully done.
I did a little reading about this theme and apparently it only appears in the game for a short while, and it's an optional part of the game :O so sad!!
I love how this one maintains a very upbeat feeling while still using subtle levels of disonance that lend a degree of complexity to the piece. Excellent playing as always. Also that steinway has amazing tone, didnt realize it was a steinway until i seen the video of your brother playing that piece from FF V
thank you! This is one of my favorite recordings I've done actually. And I think the piano was more in tune than in any other video of mine. You can really hear the beautiful tone of the Steinway!!
I loved this part of the game because it was so recluse from the rest of the world and what was happening at the time and this music certainly makes you feel like you've gotten away from it all. It brings a smile to my face and lets me forget my problems.
Thank you Calvin! I think the nostalgia can be overpowering for you guys sometimes. I know the feeling with the Chrono Trigger themes, which were a huge part of my childhood!
Kara Comparetto Ah sweet nostalgia. I Do have to play Chrono Trigger though. I played it for 10h or so and stopped, because the emulation was... unpleasent.
Thank you! Well Vamo alla Flamenco is next :D I had a rough week because one of my little dogs died. I've been more depressed about it than I thought I would. But that's the one that will come next :) Thank you again Mogge!
Kara Comparetto So sorry for your loss of such a dear friend 😔 I know about loosing a furry friend 💖 Ooooh soooo looking forward to that song, it's a really cool song! 😀😀😀 Here's a big HUG for you! 😊💖
No idea how you got into this music, but I'm so happy. Nobuo Uematsu's work means the world to me, and seeing you play sometimes gets me emotional. I'm often heartbroken in how little people know of his compositions, but I can't blame them, they're not gamers. Never stopped you though! You could have easily done something else in life, especially considering how good looking you are. I admire your discipline and often watch your videos.
Underland I'm sure she'd do well but, I didn't intend for my comment to come off that way. I just wanted to compliment how she looks, even though that's not what I consciously watch this channel for.
Not gonna lie, when I first saw this channel's thumbnails via TH-cam's recommendations while flicking through some FF7/8/9 piano covers, I was actually reluctant to click on any of her videos at first. It was refreshing to find out she is more than just a pretty face
well I love the piano music, im a nerd for for Uematsu... But yeah Kara those rosy cheeks ain't hurting the eyes either! My wife and I adore your music thank you!
What an amazing cover! Beautiful! This really captures the spirit of Daguerreo in a more optimistic way than it is presented in the game. It sounds more lively and playful. I always thought the music in the game fit the place fine. Lots of books and scholars everywhere. But your intepretation here makes me think about all those students having fun. Very nice!
That's interesting! I wish I knew a little bit more about this part of the game. Well, the game in general. But I kind of thought it was cool that this theme is for the library part, which makes total sense really!
Kara Comparetto Yup! I've actually been listening to this cover of yours during the last week (and probably next week as well) to help me get through my finals. I get very tired from so much content I have to memorize and go over (I'm at med school) and the awesome energy this song gives is really keeping me up haha
☆☆☆☆☆ holy katz this is good! this is one of the two most Schubert like (Uematsu channeling his inner Franz haha) pieces in the collections series I've come across and the poise in your playing here is spot on. really nice warm tone and sentimentality without letting it get out of hand. it's a spritley little lollipop of a piano piece , I think this and frontier village Dahl are the best selections from this set. fine recording here kuppo ●● :-] ●●
Hahaha little lollipop of a piece eh? XD that made me laugh. Thank you, I felt this one came out really great, and believe it or not, it's partially because the piano is just SO in tune. Usually it gets tuned up right before I record, but this time for some reason it really stood out as perfect. Perhaps because of the key it's in- B flat. Thank you again also for the link to XV you sent me! I have it in my email, but haven't done much about it yet. I think I'm procrastinating because it looks scary to try to get from that site LOL. I did order the sheets for XII though, so that's a start!!
At first I thought you may be stretching the melody a little too much in the intro, but I ended up liking how it highlighted the harmony as the piece went on. Really great interpretation. I love your phrasing around 1:54. You also nailed the last measure and bar. I never liked how the Piano Collection recording repeated the held coda note.
She's back!!! Right from the start, I noticed you varied the approach by adding hints of rubato, and it added a new feel for me from the original! Can't wait to hear what you're going to play next from FF9! :D
Yes, I felt the beginning needed something other than what was directly written. I didn't add this though until a few days before I recorded it. I felt something was missing and I think I added the right touch there. I'm glad you also noticed and liked it too!
This piece really is profound❤ my children begged me to learn these on the piano when they were young. This is how it was intended to sound! I did master Fishermans Horizon. This one alluded me.
Hey Kara, so I'm notating pedal marks on my sheet music (not the original, of course, as I've made copies, hehe), and I have a big question to ask, and I'm sure I'll have a few more along the way. For the E section of the song, are you using pedal once (at the start of each measure) before the sixteen notes appear? If so, then why not use pedal for each right hand harmony before the sixteen notes appear in section E? Is it because the notes to be played are now more on the right side of the keyboard, therefore less pedal is needed? Anyhow, don't get spooked, but I've been analyzing the movement of your right leg to get a sense of when to use pedal, and I'm learning a lot! Lol I'm self-taught
Ah, someday I will learn to play this song! I don't play very well yet, but every time I hear this I want to keep practicing. Your rendition was excellent, thanks for sharing!
This song has to much armony and joy on it and you performed it perfectly. Also, you look so happy on this video. Oh, and you look pretty with your short braid hair. ^ ^
This is possibly one of the all time prettiest FF piano arrangements imo. When I listen to the original it never makes me feel like this one does 3:00 is my fave arrangement
This part of the game is optional! It's after you get the airship in disk 3. It's on a small island off of the forgotten continent over a bridge between two waterfalls. I think there's a chocograph that takes you there as well...It's just a cool settlement with random people, decent armor and weapons, and a few sidequests. Also, your interpretation was phenomenal!
Oh how lameeeee lol why do they make it optional?! Especially with this brilliant music by Uematsu. It reminds me of Johannes Brahms. He would introduce this incredible theme in his symphonies, and you'd only hear it once and it would be gone forever. You have to listen to the entire symphony to hear it again! haha. Thank you for the background about this part in the game too!
I know where you're coming from with the Brahms. It's such a unique theme! Also I'm pretty sure it's optional but they make it pretty hard not to notice imo. The music of FFIX is so unique in that not only are there a plethora of styles, but also the two competing themes of Terra and Gaia represented by the motifs from "The Place I'll Return Someday" and "Melodies of Life." It's kind of silly to say but this game got me interested in ragtime because of the rag feel of "Sleepless City Treno"...but Uematsu is amazing! Him and Joe Hisaishi (Check him out if you haven't!) are definitely my favorite contemporary Japanese composers.
This helped. I need to make a playlist of peaceful town themes for when the people around me are acting insane. I gotta see if you've done Balamb or Fisherman's Horizon's themes next. Edit: You've done both. Arigatou, madam. :)
Yes Demian, I do need to do them more often hahaa. I wish I could do one once a week- that would be my goal. I just need to ditch all my other activities hehehehe XD Thank you so much!
Night time and stone pavements is Treno, where you do the card tournament and auction house stuff. Treno's theme is one of my all time favorites. I even remember leaving the game unpaused on the living room just to listen to that theme back in the day. Check it out, it's great.
This happens later in the game. I actually just checked an FAQ to see that this is an optional area since I forgot too. I haven't beaten IX in about 10 years lol. Treno was in Disc 2, before returning to Alexandria. That much I remember.
Oh I'm sure Schubert would have been jealous HAHAHA. This theme is definitely on par with Schubert's. Overall I think the brilliance of the great masters outshines these compositions (I know, I shouldn't be saying that here), perhaps in the way they're presented as a whole (not necessarily the melodies themselves). But that's not to say these aren't incredible and I don't love them to pieces!!
Sweet! Finally, a video I can use to help me get an idea as to when to use pedal for this beautiful piece! I understand, and can often distinguish by ear, the importance of smoothly transitioning from one harmony to another, but sometimes it can be a little hard incorporating it all, esp if you're self-taught. Anyhow, please don't remove this, as I definitely will be referencing it as I mark on my sheet music the need for pedal. Hehe. I'm also learning Chopin's 3rd prelude. What a beautiful little piece, wouldn't you agree?
Livestream AND upload combo :D :D :D well this just gets me right into the practicing mood :) I think playful fits nicely, this place in the game wasn't super serious or emotional...I found this place while exploring and looking for all the secrets of the game (I got too into that and my playtime was skyrocketing XD), the main thing I remember about Daguerreo was a puzzle involving mechanical stairs hahaha...you know, I wouldn't even have played ff9 yet if it weren't for your covers making me want to play XD Hmmm....if you do cover ALL of FFIX eventually, then sooner or later you will have to cover the Jesters of the Moon theme >:D Thank you for being you and making another great cover :)
You just have to know that when I upload a livestream AND a video, it's gonna be another month before I upload again XD hahahha. Just kidding, I hope that's not true! All these themes from IX must be so vivid for you since you just played the game! And I noticed you also told me you're playing VIII which was a surprise for me, I don't think you had told me :O I've gotten requests for Jesters of the Moon before, must be a good one! Don't worry I'll cover it eventually XD
Awesome cover as awesome! I was just watching your live steam. I woke up like a couple hours ago feeling all refreshed but your piano playing is making me want to fall asleep to this beautiful melody again! 😁 Also my friend Amanda wanted to say hi. Don't know if you know her but she just wanted to let you know :)
Tell Amanda I also said hi! I don't think I know her but maybe she's on my Instagram or something. And thank you, I'm glad you got a relaxing morning listening to some piano music- and my silly comments hahaha
I remember when I got the CD, Final Fantasy S Generation, back in 2003. Hearing that music, and hearing someone like yourself play the music, reminds me of things I was doing then. Pretty cool. Also, hearing you play them is like listening to a live version of a favorite song, where it's a familiar tune but just a little bit of interpretation and style difference. Any chance you're planning to upload a video of Chopin's Waltz in E Minor? I discovered that song a couple of years ago and would like to learn how to play it, either on piano or guitar or something.
I'm glad you have that open mind required when listening to a musician interpret a piece! Sometimes we (myself included) hear something a certain way for so long that we don't like to hear anything even a little bit different. But I think we need to have that open mind when it comes to music! I would love to record the Chopin waltz in E minor. It definitely is about time that I upload a new classical cover!!
I think the coolest piece of music I've ever seen is La Campanella. I can't even follow the sheet music, though. I could at least see myself playing WnEm, although I'd have to practice it a lot...or learn to play piano. Either way, seeing your playing and especially your sight reading skills, I'm sure you can do it with little time or practice.
I love the bVI bVII I progression at 2:40 (Gb Ab Bb in this case). After just checking, I see it's not in the original, and it sounds amazing here. It fits so well, I think, since Gb is so far away from the typical C major, just like Daguerreo is from the rest of the FF9 world. Borrowing chords from the parallel minor is like borrowing from and partaking in a parallel reality deep in one's imagination, and how amazing that imagination is indeed when you are far away at Daguerreo/Gb!
Wonderful, beautiful job well done. Even though it was Final Fantasy, the name Secret Library and you wearing yellow, you reminded me from Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
/watch?v=RGV-EPpmHQA (Secret Library Daguerreo - vocal version by Erutan) I think you are gonna love her videos. I remember almost crying with felling Beauty being expressed trough this song (like some of your interpretations)
Sooo cool, she did amazing! It's so pretty with singing. I think I have seen something by her before because she looks familiar. Thank you for sharing! it's such a beautiful melody :)
Then learn and stop feeling sorry for yourself. What kind of attitude is that to have in life? Grow up and learn to read music. If you can learn to type comments in this section in english then there is no reason you can’t read music.
ohhh okay I see, I was thinking of doing a Kyle Landry arrangement of a theme from Undertale, I don't know if it's the one you're requesting, but I am planning on some Undertale!! :D
Nope! this is how I chose to record it, and felt it didn't need to be the exact same speed as the original piano collections recording :) that's what makes it music!
I really, really wanted to love FFIX. I was so hype for it. I kept playing the game, waiting for something to emotionally affect me. But nothing did. So in summary: Some good tunes, but FFIX is not worth revisiting, imo. Better to just look at the art book (which I have).
@@KaraComparetto not at all. It's cute on you. Forgot to say I love this song. I sometimes just left the controller in daguerro just to leave it playing. Was a nice treat compared to the gloom and doom of the world music that point in the game :p
Only female feel the need to focus on their faces during piano solos. Only females. The meme of how guys show people things versus how females show people things, with themselves in the picture, holds true.
Criminally low number of views for such an authentic performance with professional yet intimate and inviting visuals-like you're having us over on a sunny Saturday to swap delightful piano performances. Thanks for having us over!
I used to hang out in this game's area just to hear this tune, thank you for recreating it so beautifully.
You have magical fingertips just like the one required for the excalibur sidequest in the secret library! What a throwback, thanks!
You play these with so much warmth and affection, and it really shows in the sound. It's a good gift to us. Thank you for sharing your performance! I'm sure you work very very hard.
Thank you for this ❤️ 📚 One of my all time favorite tracks from my wife’s and my all time favorite game.
Daguerreo that's a not often made one, good pick and beautiful playing
Not a single dislike, you deserve it. I thought I wanted to comment at least to express my gratitude for your work, your sharing and your skills. 🙏
It feel like a celebration of the beauty of life and it's really joyful. I will never know how uesmatsu can be so good a create music
Aaaaaaah! More Final Fantasy IX music! so lovely Kara, thank you for this :) :D
I have plans to cover the whole album of IX, it's really my favorite one!!

Yellow, a perfect color to define a song full of joy and good vibes

yeah I was so happy to find out this place
Absolutely gorgeous, thank you so much for this soulful musical experience!
Every once in a while I come back to play this video. Especially since you played it yesterday in your livestream.
Still coming back to this
This brings me so much joy.
Time for a cry-fest? Yup, I'm in. Beautiful performance. Truly!
It's always a pleasure to see you performing pieces out of my favourite Final Fantasy and as always, everything on point!

I really should play it again too, I remember loving the game but don't remember much about it except the music hahah
Have fun playing the game guys! :D
Im playing FFIX right now (cd3) meanwhile im listening to this gorgeous lady.
love ff, 9 was my first:D
It's so good to see a new upload from you!
I wish I could get then out more often! Ugh I feel like one thing after another takes up the time I could be spending here D:
This was the first FF piano album I had.
You interpret FFIX beautifully.

One of my favorite pieces! Thanks Kara.
This helped. I need to make a playlist of peaceful town themes for when the people around me are acting insane. I gotta see if you've done Balamb or Fisherman's Horizon's themes next.
Edit: You've done both. Arigatou, madam. :)
Very good job, I just watched the Live feed as well. You should do them more often, it was amazing :).
Regards from your biggest (Dutch) fan.
Yes Demian, I do need to do them more often hahaa. I wish I could do one once a week- that would be my goal. I just need to ditch all my other activities hehehehe XD Thank you so much!
Peace and knowledge and convergence.
Relaxing waterfall fountains. Plenty books to read. Sleeping in hammocks.
The cutest ff piano player.
Nice one. My memory of this portion of the game is fuzzy but I remember nighttime and stone pavements.
The theme really is sweet, not mysterious or spooky or dark. I hope that fits your memory of the scenes in the game too!
Kara Comparetto Yeah, it is charming =)
Night time and stone pavements is Treno, where you do the card tournament and auction house stuff. Treno's theme is one of my all time favorites. I even remember leaving the game unpaused on the living room just to listen to that theme back in the day. Check it out, it's great.
This happens later in the game. I actually just checked an FAQ to see that this is an optional area since I forgot too. I haven't beaten IX in about 10 years lol. Treno was in Disc 2, before returning to Alexandria. That much I remember.
Ooooh I like this arrangement a lot. Very pretty.
I often wonder what the great classical minds of old would think of pieces like these.
@@KaraComparetto I knew this piece reminded me of some composer
What a beautiful little piece, wouldn't you agree?
great job Kara!
Thank you again Christopher!!
Very good to hear your songs, keep making us happy! Hugs
Thank you Rafael! Next is Vamo alla Flamenco, I'm recording it this weekend! :)
Kara Comparetto Very good! I'll wait
Livestream AND upload combo :D :D :D well this just gets me right into the practicing mood :) I think playful fits nicely, this place in the game wasn't super serious or emotional...I found this place while exploring and looking for all the secrets of the game (I got too into that and my playtime was skyrocketing XD), the main thing I remember about Daguerreo was a puzzle involving mechanical stairs hahaha...you know, I wouldn't even have played ff9 yet if it weren't for your covers making me want to play XD Hmmm....if you do cover ALL of FFIX eventually, then sooner or later you will have to cover the Jesters of the Moon theme >:D
Thank you for being you and making another great cover :)
Also my friend Amanda wanted to say hi. Don't know if you know her but she just wanted to let you know :)
Tell Amanda I also said hi! I don't think I know her but maybe she's on my Instagram or something. And thank you, I'm glad you got a relaxing morning listening to some piano music- and my silly comments hahaha
My favorite ff theme, I am planning to record it too!:)
Hey thank you Enrico! Pleeease let me know when you record yours so I don't miss it!
My goodness she is so beautiful… love this song, love this game, love this woman❤️
Very interesting observation!
Wonderful, beautiful job well done. Even though it was Final Fantasy, the name Secret Library and you wearing yellow, you reminded me from Belle from Beauty and the Beast.
Hah! I also wore yellow when I recorded the Beauty and the Beast song XD It's a favorite color of mine :)
Kara Comparetto Yes, I noticed that as well, and that is a beautiful outfit you wore for Beauty & the Beast!!!
Btw my fav color is purple.
🔥🔥
I remember Leviathan, flooded library and black paper-like cat enemies which cast thunder magic outside the library LOL.
you are so beautiful
Bravo !!!!!!!
I prefer when you show your whole body like in your Rose of May cover :)
I'll keep that in mind!! Thank you :)
I'm in love😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍 ... music and you both are so beautiful..
Ohhhh thank you so much 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
Have you heard Erutan's cover, with lyrics? So graceful and magical!
No I don't think I have! could you link me?
/watch?v=RGV-EPpmHQA (Secret Library Daguerreo - vocal version by Erutan)
I think you are gonna love her videos. I remember almost crying with felling Beauty being expressed trough this song (like some of your interpretations)
Sooo cool, she did amazing! It's so pretty with singing. I think I have seen something by her before because she looks familiar. Thank you for sharing! it's such a beautiful melody :)
You are the best
This music is amazing. I wish i can learn this but i don't know how to read the sheet :(
Then learn and stop feeling sorry for yourself. What kind of attitude is that to have in life? Grow up and learn to read music. If you can learn to type comments in this section in english then there is no reason you can’t read music.
Why I'm Crying?
HELLO YELLOW
pretty sure this what a sunflower would sound like playing this
This shirt is definitely a sunflower hahaha maybe a bit toooo bright XD Thank you so much :)
I prefer to think it's chocobo-colored
Hi kara i hope you doing ok ^^, you get more subs! thats awsome! i hope you play some another final fantasy 8 again!!
I agree.
Kara, what are you teaching these days?
Yes I took a break from VIII but I need to revisit it, there are a lot of great themes I haven't covered yet! Thank you so much Ines!
Thank you Hugo ^^ And I'm not quite sure I understand your question! :O
Nvm.
wow are you amazing 👍
Could you do "Battle against a true hero"?
Which Final Fantasy is that one from? 😊
oh.. wait do you only do final fantasy? Because thats from Undertale
ohhh okay I see, I was thinking of doing a Kyle Landry arrangement of a theme from Undertale, I don't know if it's the one you're requesting, but I am planning on some Undertale!! :D
well as long as its undertale i'm fine with it :) its just that battle against a true hero is an intense boss battle song with mainly piano
see your new video again! :)
Thank you so much for watching!!
the last two chords from 3:47 to 3:49 ahhhhhh
a bit too fast isnt it? was it tweaked intentionally to avoid copyright?
Nope! this is how I chose to record it, and felt it didn't need to be the exact same speed as the original piano collections recording :) that's what makes it music!
I really, really wanted to love FFIX. I was so hype for it. I kept playing the game, waiting for something to emotionally affect me. But nothing did. So in summary: Some good tunes, but FFIX is not worth revisiting, imo. Better to just look at the art book (which I have).
🤗😄👌
Its not a brute world you are proof
Am I the only one who can smell Chopin's waltzer style in this piece?
Looking like an adult ochaco uraraka with them cheeks girl. Lovely playing
Opps, I overdid it I think XD hahahhaha
@@KaraComparetto not at all. It's cute on you. Forgot to say I love this song. I sometimes just left the controller in daguerro just to leave it playing. Was a nice treat compared to the gloom and doom of the world music that point in the game :p
귀여워요(cute)
Only female feel the need to focus on their faces during piano solos. Only females. The meme of how guys show people things versus how females show people things, with themselves in the picture, holds true.
