- The Isle of Man is a small island nation located in the Irish Sea. The island is just 53 kilometers long and 19 kilometers wide - but it offers plenty of fun things to do for tourists. It has a mild climate and boasts more than 150 kilometers of beautiful coastline, consisting largely of sweeping sandy beaches and steep, rugged cliffs.
The manx are a celtic nation. Around 85000 people live on the island. The capital of the Isle of Man is Douglas, where you'll find many of the island's top points of interest.
The most popular tourist attractions are the Laxey Wheel, Rushen Castle and Peel Castle.

As an islander, this video is really nice but the island is even more beautiful in the flesh. The people are welcoming and it’s a wonderful place to visit. We don’t have our own airline, we haven’t for almost thirty years, but we are serviced by several small airlines. The boat ( Isle of Man steampacket) is often better value and more reliable at the moment.
I’d also say that personally, April and May are the best times to visit. The bluebells are out along the steam railway, the weather is usually really good and everything is fresh, clean and ready for the new holiday season. If you don’t want to see the racing, avoid TT fortnight and MGP week as prices skyrocket due to popularity. The rest of the year the island is good value and affordable.

Our island is the capital of two-wheeled sport. From the TT racers flying at over 150mph through our village streets to the Manx Missile, Mark Cavendish, sprinting at nearly 50mph up French ones. But whether on two wheels or four you're all welcome to discover it for yourselves. 🏍️🚴♂️🇮🇲

@@marcustorreao It's pronounced Isle of 'Man' now but the way the World is going it will probably be pronounced Isle of 'Non-binary' in 20 years time.

Correction: Tynwald isn't the oldest parliament, it's arguably the oldest continuously operating parliament in the world. That is, it has functioned (albeit in varying capacity due to changing political situations) since it's founding. I believe the Icelandic parliament is older, but there have been long periods of time in which it hasn't existed as a functioning political body.

No immigration control in the "Common Travel Area" 🇬🇧🇬🇬🇯🇪🇮🇲🇮🇪 applicable to 🇬🇧🇮🇪 citizens, ergo no passport stamps...

As of 31st of March all COVID-19 travel restrictions are being lifted. Even if you test positive for COVID-19 you do not have to isolate when you get over here

I know Isle of Man 🇮🇲 actually is not, and never has been, part of the United Kingdom 🇬🇧 , nor is it part of the European Union 🇪🇺. It is not represented at Westminster or in Brussels. It is just a self-governing British Crown Dependency - as are Jersey and Guernsey in the Channel Islands - with its own parliament, government and laws.

Yes, Liverpool to Douglas is the quickest ferry crossing to the Isle of Man from England. This route takes approximately 2 hours 45 minutes. However, there is no ferry from Blackpool to Isle of Man.

It is a mild climate in that it does not reach extreme highs or extreme lows. It is always temperate, the winters are mild and so are the summers. Also that's not the max temperature by a long shot.
This is an old video. Promenade, Ramsey Pier, doesn't look the same. Manx Air is no more.

As a child of the 50s, I remember it as a place full of life and excitement. It now looks like a ghost town in comparison.
If it wasnt for the TT and the tax haven status, it would be almost deserted. Very sad.
The island looks like paradise to me. Why are people leaving it?
@@W.T.G They left a long time ago when cheap packages were introduced to European destinations. With that went the economic reinvestment which keeps a place vital.
The weather is not very reliable also but unlike the mainland resorts, day trips are not practical. That voyage across the Irish sea can be atrocious.
@@bigfletch8 Maybe the island needs to promote itself more to attract foreign visitors. I mean, 90% of people outside of UK never heard about IOM.
@@svenschumann5136 Please tell Brian Fletcher that he doesn't have to stay or go there. The Island is a magical place and there are plenty of tourists throughout the summer , TT, walking tours, etc. Before Covid hit there was a growing trade in cruise lines using Douglas as a port of call. The weather can be glorious or not just like the rest of the British Isles.
