So happy people like you are on TH-cam. Did a rebuild on my 07 Civic 1.8 and had the same issue, bolted the unit as shown back to the block and the problem was solved! Thanks for taking the time to post this and share it with the home mechanics out here!
Thank you. It was the problem, my father had replaced m head gasket and he watched your video to find out which bolt he had missed. Thank you so very much it saved a lot of time and money.
You’re my hero, I just put a head in my daughter’s car and it started but after driving it quit.
It had the exact same issue that you showed.
The one bolt I missed.
Thanks!!!
Recently put a clutch in mine its same model went to start it up after finishing and this same exact thing happened. The gauges were kinda dim and cel was on also so decided to plug a cheap temu obd2 reader i have in to see if it says anything and noticed all the gauges lit up and cel went away so I tried to start it and boom started no problem but soon as unplug got the same thing. I've been driving around for 2 weeks with this plugged in. Glad I stumbled on this video I couldn't find anything when was actually looking for it, crazy how google works have to use the right words when looking. I will definitely be trying this tomorrow. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us less mechanically inclined!
Cool your welcome
Dude thank you so much for this video !! I did a transmission on mine and undid this exact same bolt, I put everything back but missed this one. I looked for hours trying to find the missing ground & even ended up replacing the fuel pump 🤦.
Bro your a genius! Thank you so much. Ive been going crazy for 2 months trying to find the problem. They changed my engine and forgot to put that bolt in also.
It would only start with the obd pluugged in. You deserve a medal
Thank you yeah, that was a hard find. I figured a lot of people would benefit from this video.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! I redid my clutch on my Civic and put everything back together. I even remembered to put this bolt back in the wire harness, but because it was so badly corroded It was not making the proper ground connection. So I took a small wire brush on a drill and clean the bolt and the eye and double checked and wire brushed all my ground wires all the way back to the battery and the wire through the transmission and lo and behold it started right up. So for anybody who has done their clutch and wonders why their car won't start back up after putting it back together this is the solution I searched the internet for 5 hours seeing if anybody had the same problem and this is the only video that I found that has helped me.
January 30, 2024, Thanks for this video I got my friends car started, Your amazing ✔️
In my Denzel Washington voice from Training Day, "My #!$$@." Thanks for real. Its pouring down raining and I couldnt get this civic started without my scanner after the engine swap. You are a Saint for posting this video.
Bro thank you so much I’ve been losing my mind with my civic bless the fact you made this video I love you
You’re welcome I’m so glad I was able to help
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair thanks for this video it has really help alot of people with same issue, but pls i have a question for u , with out the earth wire, can i still have spark and injector pulse ?
You are a life saver man hands down the best mechanic in who post videos and shows in detail what people are looking for. Thank you man. I hope you see this an Basket in it man because you deserve it.
Thank you so much for the kind comment
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepairwow , I just got a used 2008 and I find this wireless type of scanner plugged in. Same problem if I take it out,, do I just need the right size bolt and a washer or is there a wire there ? I have to check this myself here when i get home ,, thank you
Great info same exact thing happened to me with replacement engine except it had a dongle in obd connector so we didn't know til we put scanner on to see if monitors were set for emissions.
Thanks man. I went through every single procedure trying to find this missing ground. With no power to my fuel pump I went through every fuse relay ground ignition ect trying to find the cause. I was thinking maybe the ecu fried somehow. Found this video and it was my problem. Can’t thank you enough I had no idea those were grounded.
You’re welcome it’s so crazy how they’re hidden those grounds. Glad you were able to fix it.
THANK YOU SO MUCH .... FINALLY WORKED !!!
I had same issue when rebuilding transmission... thanx for the video many shops couldn’t find this problem
Pin 16 sir 😉. Power at pin 16 , can data line at pin 6 and 14. Chassis and sensor grounds at 4 and 5. Nice fix , and great place for a ground that doesn't look like a ground.
Thanks yes it took a little time to find. The places they hide stuff. OMG
I would say. the problem isn't the same. Yes check for spark. My thoughts. The fuel pump so test for fuel psi.
Coopers Automotive Repair I'm having the same problem 07 civic crank but won't start it getting fuel spark and air
@@selvinantoine3262 How did u later start ur car ,what was the problem

I know right? definitely was weird. We learn something every day. By the way, wheel alignment equipment will be in tomorrow. Then shop and tool touring vid. is on the way. Your welcome Friend.
Thanks for this, I have the same problem , and I have been around that area so will go and have a look if there is a missing bolt :-)
You’re welcome this was an interesting one what happens is the scanner completes the ground for the sensors to make the vehicle run?
Great video men
Thanks glad you enjoyed it
Same to me . Thank you
You’re very welcome
Thank you sir
You’re welcome. This is one of my favorite.
Thank you much appreciated 🎉❤🎉🎉 worked for me
You are most welcome
My Civic was a defective fuel pump, it would start and then dies, then rest the key the fuel gauge was reading empty to half tank. Dealer wanted to diagnose the car for $450. I simply replace fuel pump with new one from warrenty, and the car now runs.
I have the same issue now. Hopefully mine is the defective fuel pump
Thanks. I love you so much
You’re welcome. This problem is more common than you would think.
Thanks your nice video sir!
No problem you’re welcome
Very nice thanks
Thank you my car same problem
Thanks for your help
You’re welcome, Andrew
Great video,very helpful,thanks
Glad it was helpful!
Just bought a used 2010 with the same problem!
Can you use still use the car for while with the paper clip ?
If I ever see you, I owe you lunch!!
Is it just a bolt or do you have to run a wire to it too
I’m sorry for the slow response. It’s just a bolt because the wire is inside of that bracket.
for the Honda Civic FD3 hybrid, is the ground located there the same?
Had those cases a couple of times. As it turns out it was ground issues.
I hear yeah definitely ground problems
Great thankyou.......
Most welcome!
Size of the bolt?? Thank you for this video.
I believe it was a 10 mm x 1 25 thread pitch
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair thank you. I checked all the ground wires cleaned them also but car still not starting. I’m having the same problem it starts only with the scanner on. Could it be a bad ecm? Or blown fuse? please let me know if you have any idea. Thanks again!
@@francpablo4094 if you cleaned the bolt and the eye , then it's likely the wire that goes from the transmission back to the frame and check also frame to battery that's the only way for that circuit to work is if all those ground connections are making the proper ground. Take a multi meter and check for continuity at all those points
So all you have to do is power pin 14 with pin code greeter and check pin 4 and 5 to see if they need to be grounded. Locate the G101 sensor at the rear of the engine with the yellow, brown, and black, to it to see if it connected at the engine. If not, check to see if it is missing a bolt. If so get a washer and bolt. Use a ratchet to attach it and wrap the wire around it.
You need to remember that the ground is part of the wiring harness bracket it is plastic on the rear of the head. The correct Repair has a new bolt through plastic wiring harness to grou
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair thank you you save me a lot of time and fix my car
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair mine i do have spark and injector pulse also fuel pump pump great could it still be the g101 issues?
@@komitiprincewill2181
did u ever find yr fix?
This is ridiculous, I thought I screwed something in the engine, same thing happened to me,rebuild an engine put it in doesn't start, put the obd scanner, starts right up,so yeah I didn't bolt that hornest assembly also
Yeah, sometimes it’s just the simplest things
fuckyeaaa thank you so much 6 mouth have this trouble i run the car on obd scan plug in XD 1 fcking bolt missing my bad
How did you pull up the diagram of the all those circuit? Was it through the scanner? If so, what scanner is it? Seems pretty useful.
kong _ No I went to Pro demand which is Mitchell to get the wiring diagrams. You just have to make sure that you check all the circuits that are on that fuse. And go to each diagram for each circuit. Because they don’t show everything for you is number 14 on one diagram
would this ground cause civic to surge? i rule out all fuel issues aready, now it's back to square one grounding and electrical
Not usually
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair
hmm.. thks .
I know exactly where you guys are on Hercules I used to work on Range. I've been having an intermittent no crank no start with my 2007 civic. Some times it'll start 20 times in a row and then all of a sudden nothing. Everything looks normal. It's weird. Any thoughts?
my 2008 civic with 1.8 is slow cranking and I replaced the battery and it stopped but started doing it again and it does it in the morning or if it's sat for a long time, any suggest would be appreciated
amp drain on Battery. Something staying on light ect
Jose Castro how did u fix the problem I have the same
@@WilliehaynesJr bluetooth module
i have the exact same problem but my bolt is present. ive been having this problem for about 2 months now. I just connect my OBD2 scanner everytime I use the car to make it run😢
How are you sir this same problem in my car what is solution can you help me
Buenos donde hay q colocar los pines
Holy fuck thank you so much
I have a 08 civic the car died the fuel pump went I put a new one in and it will won’t start any ida
I change the motor also and this didn’t work for me and all grounds are there
I need help just swap my stock engine for a stock jdm 2008 honda civic it cranck but won't start please help .
I don't know how to check the electrical pleas anybody.
Podria poner una imagen donde puso el pin
Ground issue?
Yes
What size bolt
i have the same question
Just buy a cheap obd2 dongle and use it as a anti theft device
That’s a good thought but. You won’t be getting proper ground possible overload the circuit
i have that same problem on my 2000 accord i jumped pin 4-5 it starts where do i need to look for that ground on that car
Driver side cylinder head just under the valve cover it looks like part of the wiring harness plastic cover. On the bottom
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair thats where that problem should be at i just jumped 4-5 to drive the car to work until i saw ur video today i wanna fix it b4 i have to take emissions
Ken Jones Yes that should be exactly the problem. It’s the main since your ground for all the sensors. When you ground four five you create a new ground pad
@@CoopersAutomotiveRepair ok ill look at that when i get home for work and let u know what i find thanks cause all i did was jack the car up and do tie rod ends and hub bearings it sat for like 2 weeks til i got all my parts went to start that that happen didnt notice the green key not flashing til my uncle put his scanner on and the fired then i unplugged it and it died so i had a small wifi scanner plugged that in and been driving it for about 2 months but i need to fix this so ill let u know friday thanks again for ur help.
Didn't find no type of ground on that 2000 Accord behind the driver cylinder head
hello or you put the metal under the car thank you
What kind of bolt does it need
Sorry I don't remember
Coopers Automotive Repair is it a special kind of bolt or could I put any
Lorena Jimenez You could use anything
Maybe you can tell me why my 08 Civic transponder lost key info while battery disconnected, and my scan tool Ancel FX9000 says no comm with the IMMO
Sorry I don’t know
Honda civic 2007 2.0 i have the same problem, i will try that... Thanks alot...
No problem 👍
