Rather than raising differences between names.. And diverting everyone from main issues, Govt must work on them to ease life of common people.. Education.. Health.. Infrastructure.. Employment should be on top of its agenda..
Our country's name will automatically be on top in the world.

Big change doesn't come in a day it takes thousands of little changes...Bharat has changed it education policy, Bharat was the first country to provide free vaccine in COVID time ,also don't forget it latest achievement like chandrayan 3.....these all are the small changes which are the first step of the ultimate change...Bharat is one of the fastest developing country in the world.... Bharat is making it names in the world and u don't want it to be name by a meaningless word given by other rather than the meaningful word given by our own ancestors...I think it a right time to change it names to show world the actual origin of Bharat..

The truth is that we are more Indian than Bharatiya. Not many, including BJP fans and leaders themselves, will go for a Gurukul education for their kids. Food, clothing, shelter, any basic need, or even wants, when one considers - not many are keen on adopting the Bharatiya lifestyle. It's always more western, i.e. Indian, in nature. Even when the benefits of the Bharatiya way is clear in some measures. The parliamentary system isn't going to go away, in favour of a national Panchayat system or anything similar! Even when Sehwag says that the cricket team's t-shirt should say Bharat, he forgets that it's a sport invented by you-know-who! While our traditional roots justifies the name "Bharat", the name "India" justifies our choices (where not all choices are forced, some Indian choices are chosen for positive reasons).

In every Indian language, the name is Bhaarat, Bhaarata, Bhaaratam. So the key question is do we want a foreign language (English) to be part of our core identity, or do we want to have our native identity based on our own native languages. Every other nation has its name in its own native language, not in a foreign language. Are we going to forever live in the shadow of being ruled by Britain, or are we going to assert our own identity?

Bharat, India, Hind, and Hindustan are all valid names of this great civilization. None of these names are mutually exclusive at all. Japan is a name given to Nippon by foreigners as well, but is as valid as Yamato- the ancient name of Japan, as well as Nippon. 'India' has a huge brand name value, and should never be discarded, in the same way Bharat evokes the very soul of this great country. 'India' has a ring to it that is almost musical. Its civilizational impact is immense, and its application is immeasurable. From Apache Indians to the Indian Ocean, or the popular girl's name India, as well as the Arabic name Hind, India is everywhere. Even an international code of signals flag is 'I for India'.

India had several names given by several people. The Ancient Tamils, for example, named the Indian subcontinent as Nāvalan Taṇpoḻil (நாவலந் தண்பொழில்) or simply Nāvalam (நாவலம்). The name is formed with these Tamil root words: Nāval (one of the ancient Indian trees) + Am (beauty) + Taṇ (cold / cool) + Poḻil (greatness / country / forrest). So it means, "the cool beautiful country rich in Nāval trees".

True. Indigenous names should be preferred to foreign or colonial names. On independence, many African countries adopted native names: Ghana (Gold Coast), Mali (Western Sudan), Malawi (Nyasaland), Lesotho (Basotholand), Botswana (Bechuanaland), Namibia (South West Africa), Zimbabwe (Rhodesia), Zambia (Northern Rhodesia) etc. Bharat is beautiful. India is great, too. But it has been so corrupted & misused by European colonizers of the Americas that it has become confusing: Indian = 1) a citizen of a South Asian country 2) an indigenous person of the Americas. The world will get used to Bharat. Just as we got used to Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. The use of Bharat will also inspire other African countries, etc, to complete decolonization.

And this is not at all about an irrelevant country like Pakistan. I wrote it just to bring my point that we are losing all this clout. No other country has an Ocean named after them.
Even US recently changed the name of this region from Asia-Pacific to Indo-Pacific to piss off China and include India into the larger narrative.
We would basically lose all our history. It would be like Pakistan, who is constantly in identity crisis because they dont want to talk about anything before 1947 that has India in it.
LOOK at IRAN for example. They had lots of legends and mythms and cultures all over the world in name of Persia. But their king insisted on being renamed from Persia in the last century and lost all the legacy of Persia. Now most people dont even know Iran was Persia. It is like end of a thousand of years of legacy being lost for no benefit.
You can no longer claim British colonization and its effects. British colonized India, not Bharat or Pakistan or Bangladesh. Their company was East India company. They were looking for India, not Bharat.
Future generations won't feel connected with the freedom fighters and heros of the past. It would be like they all lived in different country. Like, how much do you feel connected to a Hero of Mughal Empire or Chola Empire? You will feel something, but wont feel as if it was your country. It will feel like reading history and not as if you are reading your country's past.
Foreigners have difficulty saying "' so
instead of "Bhaarath", they pronounce it as"Ba-rutt"

Read somewhere that the cost of changing the name of "India" to "Bharat" would cost around INR14,000 crores. I don't know if it's right or wrong, but it would cost somewhere around that figure. If so, why is the government willing to waste so much money just for a name change. There would be a lot of confusions and complexities involved if it's done. Also, a sudden thought that came to my mind is that the word "India" is in every rupee notes we have, so if at all the name is changed, will the government take back the old notes and print new notes with "Bharath" mentioned in it? If so, then it's going to be chaotic. People are not ready to go through another demonitization effect.

Bharat is original name of this land since starting of our civilization which is oldest civilization on this Earth. In our Hinduism holy books thousands of years ago, it's already mentioned this country named as Bharat. Even epic MAHABHARAT ensures the name of Bharat in its name itself.
Whereas India comes from foreign languages (variation of names) as mentioned in this video. There is our river named as Sindhu river(in Sanskrit and Hindi). So Persians started calling the people as Hindu(because they couldn't pronounce S word in Sindhu correctly) who live alongwith Sindhu river. There is a Pakistani friend of mine who was born in India. Later his family moved to Pakistan and eventually he became an American citizen. He says that his US passport mentions India, where he was born, it mentions the US which he is a citizen of. But his US passport does not mention Pakistan. I would like to say to him, some day, "you and I are both Indians for we were both born in India".

Why convince a Pakistani he is Indian? Home is where the heart is. Your friend left to be in their desired Islamic republic, the Land of the Pure. They struggled and got it. They threw out all religious minorities down to 2%. So, why would he care about being Indian, having got his pound of flesh???

The only thing I find sad about this discussion is that "India" gets put down as some terrible colonial relic as if there isn't so much culture, innovation, and positive image built up in that word. People who hate on "India" don't have the courage or maturity to look in the mirror at the great country we already are. I'm not against Bharat, far from it, but also not really against "India". Perhaps we could use the names interchangeably. Many countries already do that and we too. It's not like Hindustan is going away any time soon. 😅
