It was a special timed performance that I wanted the South African counsul to enjoy watching Japanese culture with the powerful help of Hachijo-daiko more than forty years ago.

This video makes me feel as if I were watching Hachijo-daiko again at my wedding party in the hall in Shiba, Tokyo. My mother and the manager of the Izakaya seemed enjoying drumming.

    是非打ち方を教えて欲しい演奏です♪
    素敵な曲で、女性のしなやかさがよく演技されていますし、男性の力強さも出ています。
    これだけ八丈を打てる方はいないかな?

I was fortunate to see Kojima perform this live in Hawaii as part of a Pacific Crossings concert. Her performance was beautiful and moving. She also gave some background on her experiences learning the art in an all-male (at the time) discipline.
