I am an RN IBCLC. I rarely ever recommend it. I agree if I do, it must be short term & with a strategic purpose & then only after working with a mom to optimize use of her pump & letdown. Great video! Validates what I do in my practice!
I am so happy to hear this! It can be a good technique when it’s purposeful, so glad that concept came across in the video. Keep doing the great work that you do!!
Nicu mom here with a 28 wk premie, 3 wks postpartum and have very little milk output. I do feel like i am just throwing everything at the wall to see what sticks. Power pumping was suggested to get get more stimulation to try and help my brain know that i had the baby. I feel like i have so many odds against me and successfully breastfeeding. I still have hope and will continue to try until i feel i have exhausted all options.
Power pumping definitely does help with more stimulation, I’m so sorry you’re trying all the things with minimal success, it’s so hard. Your dedication is amazing. How can I help?
I was in your exact boat momma. We are almost 6 Mos post partum now and I have a full 24-28oz per day exclusive pumping supply it's a long hard road but it is worth it
Interesting take. True that it’s important to address the root cause. I’ve even considering trying it to see if it makes a difference on my low supply. What you mentioned at the end really resonated though. The uncontrolled let downs and them not happening during the pumping session. I find myself rushing through the house to get the hakka whenever I feel one to make sure I get every drop. If I don’t, I won’t catch as much on the pumping session. I was wondering if it’s a good idea or if it is better in the long run to stick to the pumping schedule? I find your videos so informative and helpful. Do you have one that touches on that topic (let down issues). Struggling to get them while pumping or at the breast, but random uncontrollable ones between feeds?
How do I find the video about let downs? I only have one let down right off the bat when I pump but can't seem to get a second letdown no matter how long I pump. Hoping the video on let downs can help!
@@NewLittleLife I have no idea! It’s like I’m trying to increase my supply with this oversuggested approach so why do I end up with clogged ducts and less milk 😭 it becomes an endless cycle of always trying to increase my supply (I’m an EP twin ftm!)
Hey, this just happened to me too! Had to have massage to unclog my sore and swollen breast. Well, the pumping output didn't seem to change much since I powerpump for a week, I do get letdown from the other breast that I'm dbf-ing my baby (I have noticed that that's not happening for a while).
Yes, I do really like the unimom opera! Check out this video: Which pumps are most similar to Spectra S1 and S2? th-cam.com/video/dwXfH7cnB7A/w-d-xo.html
POWER PUMPING NOT WORKING? Apply to work with me here: bit.ly/3zhT2Rc
I power pumped twice a day for 2 weeks & it did nothing

I power pump at work 2 times a day. I don’t pump much the first 30 min, but more the second

Thank you! I'll go check it out now!
Any time I attempt power pumping, I always end up with clogs by the third or fourth day, which then ends up tanking my supply for some time 😔
Ugh…. I wonder why this is, any idea?

Tried it yes, did it work? No. Adding just an extra pump over night made a bigger difference then power pumping
That makes total sense!
I agree!
Would you still recommend Unimom opera? I love my spectra s1 but is giving up the ghost.
Yes, I do really like the unimom opera!

Thank you! I watched it! I think I love the option of having a double motor. Especially when my slacker boob really wants to slack.
I don't power pump because it's so much work for nothing.
