Hi Elliot, I’m 62 and my greatest fear about aging is not so much about getting old, but being unwell or frail. There are worse things than dying. I work in aged care and I see this each day people wishing they were not here because they have very little quality of life.

Amazing! Life changing perspective. On my Dads 75th Birthday I said to him, Happy birthday Old man- he said to me… well .. you will be blessed to make it to my age, with a wink 😉 I’m 48 and it was that comment that made me realize the Blessings of AGING! Not everyone makes it there. So congratulations to the Man who wrote in on this question- you are blessed!!! Smile and wish everyone the same. ❤️

It’s not the getting older part that scares me, it’s the fear of not knowing what’s to come and the fear of being alone forever. Most of my friends are now in long term relationships. I have never had a relationship that’s lasted one year. I’m just afraid of being left behind. I am fairly successful in the aspect of financial success. But that doesn’t really mean anything to me. I just don’t wanna grow old alone.

‘Dominos Tuesday’ is a great little novel I got on Amazon about a group of senior citizens on their last legs who throw caution to the wind and take a dangerous sea voyage on a small craft in the name of “going down swinging.” It’s one of those books that I know I’ll reread one day. (Elderly - tough elderly - dying with your boots on.

It's mostly people around you who talk about your age and assuming you're too old to understand the time we live in. I call it 'the arrogance of youth'. The life experience you have is wisdom and in your heart you're still young. It's impossible to explain to young people. I'm 74 years old and have seen it all. The good and the bad in people. What keeps me going is my curiosity about life, the world, science, art, human experiences. Growing old is not easy. It takes courage. Like I said: the worst thing are younger people around you who treat you like a fool. They are clueless. If they're lucky they might reach your age and have your wisdom.

LOVE your point of view, Elliott! I have most certainly struggled with getting older in some ways, BUT, I LOVE that I am constantly discovering "newness" in me...and even a more loving, more kind, and more compassionate person...Life's experiences....good and bad...Are now paying off, in surprising and delightful ways.

I’m 31 and I’m just trying to cope with not being relevant anymore and everything I like and grew up liking being “old”. I still play Nintendo games and do kid stuff. I had a traumatic childhood and I cope with anime and video games. But when I talk to younger people it makes me realize how much time has actually passed and it does scare me to not be cool anymore. I’ve gained SO MUCH WEIGHT and I feel fat fat fat fat I’m almost 300 pounds I look at my video from 15 years ago and I had these skinny little arms and I could look down and see my thighs because the stomach wasn’t there. Sorry I’m rambling just tired of this

Elliott, I think that it is 💃🏽 wonderfully wonderful 💃🏽 that you have decided to make a new video regarding aging. I think that what you will have to say will help SO MANY‼️ I also know that this new journey of yours will be just as rewarding as your clinical channel, if not MORE‼️ God bless you for reaching out to help a group that is so often forgotten about. Which is interesting in itself because the very way that people look down on aging, one day (if blessed) they may be “the aged” in the future, and they would NOT want that (to be looked down on) for themselves‼️ It’s like being a pedestrian (at some point, we all are) we see them when we are driving but, we try to go around them or hurry them out of the way when war are driving but, at some point, we’ll be walking and we wouldn’t someone to hurry us out of the way. Society NEEDS MORE BE INTROSPECTIVE‼️ I’m a new member of SFU.
    God Bless 🙏🏾 You‼️

Hi Lorine! Thank you for your insightful thoughts! That is so true that those of us who look down at others for getting older are very much likely to receive the same treatment once THEY are old. Definitely a good perspective to keep in mind before we pass judgement for others based on their age.
Welcome to the SFU! I hope you enjoy your time in our solution focused community. We are happy to have you here! And thanks for commenting on my video!

WOW!! Such perfect timing! God is always one step ahead of me and guiding me in the direction that brings me to just what I need when I need it. I am in the midst of getting an advanced degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and I want to be an effective, no more than effective, I want to be a wise, impactful, compassionate, and merciful therapist. The one thing that seems to creep up on me (and that I often find myself struggling to shoot down) is my age. I still think of myself as vibrant young woman, who is just starting out (and often I feel just like that) but then I realize the reality of it all is that I am not JUST starting out. The thing is, I have been, and continue to fight against the temptation to think I am too old. Honestly, I believe it is because I have been listening to you tell me I can do it! Not personally, but in every video, in every training session, in every email, you tell me I can do this! God is still on His Throne and I keep listening to Him, and He keeps bringing me back to your work. Thank you for this, Elliott! You may be waaaayyy younger than me, but you have such a heart of love for people. I'm going to keep pressing in; I'm going to continue to press forward. I look forward to the things God has in store for me.

Instead of getting depressed about our sagging jowls and wrinkles etc we should be embracing the fact that we have actually reached an age to even be able to see ourselves aging as many many people have never had this privilege. Well said Elliott you have actually got through to the depressive state I've been in regarding this as i have never looked at it this way before.

Im currently 27 years old but i cannot shake the thought of aging. I am having fears of aging and i was reminiscing my earlier years when i was a teenager or when i was 21 or 22. But ever since i turned 26 last year i noticed that my views in life had shifted and everything seemed so... repetitive and boring. So i thought that it was because of my brain being fully developed and mature now. So here i am at 27 feeling scared and nervous to even turn 30 but after watching this video my perception of time has changed. Im starting to associate aging with growth. And growing is a very good thing in this wonderful life. Thank you and may god bless you all 🙏
