Excellent advice... thank you from a chronic overpacker! And you're SO right.. it does all start with your head! The first thing is to change tour mindset... get rid of the 'just in case' thinking! I'm embarrassed to say that I have been known to pack more outfits than days away!!

I fly/travel a lot in general, mostly solo with my three children so this is helpful! Thank you!

Thanks for mentioning the fact that you can do laundry. I've seen people who go on vacation for 2 weeks taking one outfit for every one of those days. It is of course fine if it works for you but you will have to pay more since you are taking more, plus the backpack/suitcase is gonna be heavier, might have to check stuff in... I have to say that I do not like using a washing machine that is not mine (even with disinfectant I am quite paranoid), so I just wash stuff by hand.
A bag for the flip flops I use to shower in hostels, the one for the dirty clothes... I don't understand how people put these in their suitcase without bags 😅
Also thank you for saying that you do not need to buy new clothing for trips. I mean, if you are going to a place that is incredibly cold and you do not have a proper jacket, sure, you need it, but besides that, we have plenty of stuff at home, way too much I'd say. Yay to cutting through the clutter.
I have a 1 L toiletry bag and do not need more than that. I have a solid shampoo-soap that doesn't fit in there, besides that, all in there. Not needing make up helps a lot too.
If you run out of something or needing a certain type of clothing, you can always buy it. But with clothing, if you planned things right, the probability that you are gonna need whatever you left at home is quite low, I think.
I was in England for 10 d with 15 L and I am SOOO proud of myself for that :)
    Thanks for the video! :)

We rent airbnb’s and make certain they have a washer. I cannot stand to smell dirty laundry in my suitcase. I have special bags for “Clean” and “Dirty” underwear. I always take the same color, so they can get mixed otherwise.

I got a lot out of this video, thanks! I have watched so many minimalist videos and usually the screen shot will show a ton of clothes in a big suitcase for just a few days, and I don’t even bother looking because I embrace repeat outfits in a trip. 😂 If there is access to laundry, I think it’s silly to bring tons of clothes - most people you encounter on vacation will never see you again either - as long as your clothes are clean and don’t smell, nobody will even care about repeat pieces of clothing on you. 😂 Part of the fun is buying a thing or two or more while on vacation, too, so I bring less and less each trip. For my next 10 day trip, I’m wearing my heaviest clothes on travel day, then I have two extra tops that includes my exercise top that is quick drying, and a quick drying active wear hoodie jacket. One extra pant and a short, plus one sandal and then socks and underwear. I’m always finding I could have done a better job at packing after each trip, though, and this video helped! A lot of minimalist packing videos aren’t so in my opinion, but yours was much better because you don’t mind re-wearing items. That makes all the difference in how heavy your bag has to be…

I agree, the number of huge ‘carry-on’ bags is not personally useful.

We went to France this summer too. (My husband and I have the same shot in front of the Arc de Triomphe!). It was my first time to Europe and we only brought carryons for 11 days, mainly because I wanted to prove to my self that I could do it. WELL...I am SO glad we did! We had to bring our suitcases on the metro, up and down stairs, trains, etc. I can't imagine the regret I would have felt if we had brought a bigger suitcase. I will never check a bag again! P.S. Love your channel!!

During every trip I make 3 lists: 1) What I NEEDED/Forgot, 2) What I had TOO much of, 3) What SAVED me/Glad I had... Everything I did NOT wear/use goes into a packable tote bag when I pack to leave the hotel... Before every trip, I review my previous 3 lists and the tote bag of unused items. But guess what? I STILL over pack! 🙂 tfs! [fyi, holding the mic is distracting....]

I pack a small bottle of wrinkle release spray. Also, when taking a coat on the plane, I fold it and sit on it.

I agree, washing is so handy. Poland Airbnbs in 4 days, all have washing machines. Taking only one underseat bag. Pockets for iPad, tech and toiletries. Small day bag fits inside until the destination. Don’t we love packing. 💼 👋🏻🇦🇺

Great but for asthmatic me have to take what i own longterm didnt work last time as worst winter ever in Turkey so bought extra winter stuff had to leave suitcase full and gave away laptop as bag too heavy and was a waste ended up losing my photos on webstick which corrupted and never saved on cloud for some reason. Drpends on personal preference as stayed in hostels and things didnt dry overnight .. easier in hot weather.. Next time will try 25l bag and personal item..any recommendations for laptop as need cheap lightweight one? What to yiu do with heavy jacket when you re going from place to place if temp switches from cold to hot?

Bring a packable down jacket to double as pillow or blanket or bring an old jacket you can leave/donate.

But what if you wish that you can go out to dinner during your vacation to a nice place? Your wardrobe has already decided that you’re not gonna be dressed properly to go

Black pants and jacket with a nice t-shirt can go almost anywhere.
