Mantle rock in those extra-hot regions is more buoyant than the surrounding rocks, so it rises through the mantle and crust to erupt at the surface'. this is google defination of how Hot spot formed, means no Plate tectonic involved

    You forgot rising sea levels also create islands. The British Isles were created by rising sea levels, for they were once connected to mainland Europe (last ice age).

    Amazing content. Though one correction is needed : Andaman and Nicobar islands are not Volcanic islands but are a part of Himalayas(Purvanchal himalayas) that got submerged and remerged.

    This is just assumption. Sea water is continously moving iland cannot be formed like this.
    May be this structures were formed during formation of earth.

      Lanka was connected to India by a small strip of land ( ram setu in mytogogy ) until a cyclone 500 years ago broke it apart and formed a chain of small islands.
      Do its a island due to weathering.
