    I bought my ‘19 black ‘n gray /red frame & wheels ABS Z900 this past April. Absolutely the best bike for the buck I have ever owned. Stupid fast! - great fun! $8,700 all-in w/ a few mods (small windscreen/Akropovik can/sliders....) - just an unbelievable motorcycle.

    I picked up a '17 Z900 this April with 2k miles. I've over doubled that mileage since then. I've got no complaints other than the seat is too firm. The engine is a peach with very predictable power. It may be heavier than an FZ/MT 09 but is still super flickable. No regrets about buying this bike.

    I have this bike. I've also had a 2007, 2011, and 2014 Z1000. In many ways, this bike is better than all three of those. It's smoother. It feels analog to me. No rider aids, nothing to stop you from hoisting the front wheel. I've added a Ktech rear shock and a NIX30 Ohlins set of fork inserts. It's amazing. My 3rd gear matches my buddy's MT10's 4th gear. lol. It's not as quick but it feels 2/3rds the size. I absolutely love it. Like you, I've had the 1290 Superduke R and on the street, they are equally matched to me. The 1290R has crazy power though...but to me it was unusable on the KTM. I've also had the GSXS-1000. The motor on the GSXS1000 is stronger than the MT-10 to me, but the Z900 feels like it's a 600 in size.

      @@DukeOfDC I know you mention MSRP, but I bought mine from our buddy James at Valley cycle center in Winchester at a pretty solid discount. Most Kawasaki dealers are making deals on both this and the GSXS-1000. I'm in my Z900 with aftermarket suspension for less than 10k. On the flip side, I was happy with the GSXS1000 suspension out of the box. I want to love the MT10. I've ridden Mikie D's at FMS for many miles. It's a nice bike. I just couldn't commit to it. the Z feels best. However, My XSR700 is more fun than both. So figure that out. :)

    I have the ‘19 Z900. Bought it in March. I absolutely love this bike. I’ve had a CBR1000, CBR600, ZX636R, Triumph triple, and a Buell XB12Ss. I’ve enjoyed all of them but the Z900 seems to combine the best of each of them. My only complaint is the shorter gearing. The only things I’ve done is fender eliminator, taller windscreen, and LED conversion. My final mod will be a power commander. For me, I need a little more mid-high end power. Low-end is amazing. I recommend this bike highly for anyone with intermediate plus experience. Took it on a 300 mile trip and it was so comfortable. No fatigue at all.

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Full exhaust, ECU flash (only way on earth to remove restrictions), Sprint filter will take care of the power issue. Should pull solidly all the way to redline after mods.
      Gearing is just fine. 1-2-3 are low enough to have solid rip off the line without trashing the clutch. 6th is tall enough to run 4k rpm at 60 mph. Doesn't get much more perfect. Remove a couple teeth from the rear sprocket if you want.

    • @ripnukem7622
      @ripnukem7622 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@exothermal.sprocket what's an ECU flash and a Sprint filter? Is a Sprint filter like a K&N air filter?

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ripnukem7622 K&N sort of started the higher-flow aftermarket filter craze. There's much better options these days from filter companies that actually publish their performance factors in real numbers. Sprint does this. Also check out DNA filters.
      ECU: Engine Control Unit. Electronic brain that runs everything (fuel injection, ignition, throttle body flaps, ABS, sensors, air injection valve, O2 sensors, anything and everything to make the engine run and sort controls and sensors). It's a computer with a large hunk of wires fed into/out of it. A "flash" is electronic-speak for "program new values into the computer parameters."

    • @ripnukem7622
      @ripnukem7622 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@exothermal.sprocket Thanks!!! I just bought a used 2019 z900 with 2500 mi. It already has a delkevic full exhaust. But it hasn't been retuned. There's an occasional backfire, usually when downshifting to second gear, but runs great. What's the difference between getting a power commander and a ECU flash? What's the benefit from each one? Thanks in advance!

    • @exothermal.sprocket
      @exothermal.sprocket 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ripnukem7622 Powercommander intercepts the electronic signal between the ECU and the fuel injection, modifies it, and sends it to the destination. Basically it modifies the signal the ECU sends to the injectors, to achieve different fuel application. You can also get an ignition tuner which does the same thing, modifies the signal sent to the coil packs. These (and others) are piggyback modules. If you change the programming directly in the ECU, you don't need supplemental modules to change the signal half way. Also no PC can change a half dozen other ECU parameters that the factory uses to restrict the engine. Secondary butterflies in the throttlebodies restrict airflow, ignition retardation restricts spark, fuel reduction restricts power. Any combo of the three is utilized by the manufacturer to limit gear 1, 2, 3 power on the bottom, limit top speed in 6th, and reduce noise for regulations.
      If you've run a cat-less exhaust system, you NEED to get a PC (with a reliable fuel map loaded), or ECU flash to add in the fuel. Increasing airflow without adding appropriate fuel will be harmful to the engine over time. Too lean, too hot. Factory already runs most bikes lean to achieve lower emissions pollution levels. That is NOT optimal for longevity or power.

    I love the styling down to the contrasting coloured trellis frame. Yes it's not as polished as the MT-09 and instrument cluster looks rather dated. The ride is fantastic and the handling decent and the almost old school charm of the Z900 I really like. But this basic naked is no match for the MT-10 or Super Duke. I call this a 9 out of 10 bike given the price & brilliance ballance of the Z900. And it's so much fun and feels faster than it actually is. Again a brilliant review!

    We got one a couple years ago in La Marque TX with 30 miles in it. To date the fan has never come on in traffic. This is not what we would expect. So we pulled the thermistor from the back of #3 cylinder and shorted the circuit. Fan works. So something else is going on. Book says to use 87 Octane. Which he does. Might be a tougher problem than just replacing a temp switch.

      It was an issue with the exposure and shutter speed of my camera that day. I filmed three vlogs and tried to salvage them as best I could. Luckily I’ve fixed my camera since then

    Dude.. the owners manual says don rev the engine above 3.000rpms before 1.000km, and don't rev it above 6.000 rpms before 1.600kms. You took a machine with 0kms and revved it up at 6.000rpms at once. Ofcourse You don't care.

      The owner's manual is written and I don't know how to read.... in fact siri read this comment to me.

      I’m just having a little fun with you. The dealerships encourage me to rev these up, within reason. It’s not very detrimental given the fluctuation in the rpm and the very short times I’m riding these.

      Alex Papa those bikes are too much for the street. If your doing track days, then sure. Otherwise the power you get from these middleweights is more than sufficient for street riding

    • @alexpapa7757

      @@rantANDrave1987 you are both missing a crucial part here, electronics, cornering ABS, traction control, better suspension and better brakes. If i could get a 750 with 1000 components i would mind but all those goodies only come at the top of the line bikes. And that is the main reason i am looking for an upgrade. Of course i wont say no for extra oomph since it is included in the package.

    "So small........and nimble.......and tiny...."
    You're just 100% wrong. This isn't even a valid opinion, it's just false.
    A Grom is tiny. A 600 supersport is small. A Z900 isn't any of those things.
