i feel like ive seen him first pick it a bunch or get excited and take it. man backs up his love for it. Mind twist on the other hand though.. I don't think I've ever seen him pick up and it upsets me 😠
I feel like sunfall on the wheel was the pick over chromatic star, which is really good and works well with the artifact synergies, but you’re usually trying to stabilize with these decks and then overrun them with tokens via simulacrum synthesizer/karn/urza/urza’s saga/saheeli/third path iconoclast/shark/monastery mentor, so the value of an exile effect board wipe is pretty high (only other comparable is winds of abandon). Chromatic star’s effect in the deck can be replaced by bauble or research desk or any number of cheap artifacts
Curious on your thoughts for minute 18. If you used your gemstone land to cast balance you could have taken out one of your opponents lands and their two creatures. Then used narset activation. To me that felt like a mid tier balance but in the moment it also felt like the best time to use balance with your hand having urza in it.
i felt you had what you needed to win game 3 match 1. you chose to gamble with an urza spin, shuffling away teferi which could bounce something, exile a counter spell, and tap your primary blocker. a lot of spending of resources for random upside
If you don’t care for artifacts specifically it has good chances to end up as a much slower Tormenting Voice. Would love to see it alongside Academy though
32:01 you had enough mana to cast Synthesizer + Spin didn't you? Workshop mana + U from Golem, Cast Synthesizer. Tap synthesizer, use the U to untap Monolith or Mana Vault using Manifold Key. Monolith/Vault 3 + Mightstone 2 = 5? Am I missing something?
why no balance m1g1 when he could have used the last white mana from gemstone mine, make jbro discard a card or two, and then activate narset after? I think that was the turning point in the game. It would have been a weak balance but would have kept narset around longer and taken a threat from jbro's hand.
For the past few months I've been mentioning Bonehoard Dracosaur as one of the cards you frequently would pass; yet then lose to it. I'm glad you're more up on the card. Similarly, you love to draft big mana artifact but pass the 10+ mana eldrazi. The first and last matches are good examples of where having them in your deck could've been a win. Highly suggest you draft them a bit more beyond just sneak / breach
Sweet deck! I don't understand the continued presence of mightstone/weakstone in cube. There has got to be a better 4-6 mana artifact that just does a few things medium-well, right? Like what deck is dying for this?
I think I'm inclined to agree with you. I think out of all LSVs videos, I've only seen it work out on either side of the table twice? They're also both highly specific pieces, that only synergize with each other, than only one deck ever really wants. And then on top of all that, without urza the combo doesn't even win the game straight up if your opponent has any non-combat based win conditions
I love Vintage Cube and I have been watching for many years. I would only recommend removing combos like the sword of the meek one and add cards that are more powerful on their own.
Some winnable ones here like you said, but some better mana and higher quality payoffs like an eldrazi, portal, something like that, would've been nice.
Sometimes I wonder if you get the packs wrong (regarding zuran orb) to ramp the drama up. If you are, keep it up. It's impressive and it's got such high returns.
Noticed you seem super unwilling to mulligan these days and it almost always costs you, any reason why? Not being snarky just wondering if it is philosophical approach that's shifted regarding the loss of a card vs the risk, etc. Or if you just don't take the cube stuff very seriously since it's just for fun.
“It almost always costs you” “you just don’t take cube seriously ” “not trying to be snarky” it’s hilarious how you all just trip over yourselves to get to the comments and show everyone how much better you are than LSV and also pretend that’s NOT what you’re doing.
@@robertlazenby402 Of course he does, everyone makes mistakes, and he admits it. But the commenter above, as most MTG players do for some reason, is phrasing it in such a way that frames themselves to be superior to the person they are talking about, while also trying to maintain false modesty about their opinion. If the goal is to ask lsv a question and get him to respond, you might say "I notice you seem to almost never mulligan nowadays, why is that?" but instead throwing all kinds of little insults into your comment is a nearly guaranteed way to get him to NOT respond. So it makes it seem like the commenter isn't really after an answer to the question and they just want to show everyone how smart they are.
Wtf is wrong with Luis today? Seeing the attack Nissa unblockable line too late and not seeing that balance can be useful once you chump attack with all your useless 1/1s are one thing. But relying on Thopter/Sword when you have mana problems?
Take a shot every time Luis talks about how much he likes Fire Covenant and passes it.
Averaging about .85 shots per video
Given that I don't want to die I will pass.

To be fair, he picks it fairly often !

Haven't watched yet, but I've been clamoring for a good synthesizer deck!
Ive been off mtg for years cool to see ur still cubing it up!
Luis, just a thought from me. But I think you need more active threats in these decks and less air. I kind a see the same pattern in these decks.
i felt you had what you needed to win game 3 match 1. you chose to gamble with an urza spin, shuffling away teferi which could bounce something, exile a counter spell, and tap your primary blocker. a lot of spending of resources for random upside
urza spin the worst possible thing to do there when it meant giving up a teferi. it's like "I could get anything... even a teferi!"
Any thought to putting Tamio Meets the Story Circle in the Cube? Seems like it would be cool with Reanimator/Artifacts/Balance.
Cool idea. I may try it.
If you don’t care for artifacts specifically it has good chances to end up as a much slower Tormenting Voice. Would love to see it alongside Academy though
This draft proves one thing..... LSV is a human after all.
30:06 mox, imprint teferi, synthezer, balance, they discard 3 cards and sack their entire board?

just came here to leave same comment, i think you're right
Why no balance m1g3 after the twister? 1sided wrath make him discard some cards, dispose of Loran...

that g3 did seem unlosable after the twister though

what other cards do you put in a cube to complement Nadu, or is the existing suite of equipment with cheap costs enough for it to pop off?

Am I missing something @ 32:12? LSV uses Mishra's Workshop to spin Urza?
He used the mightstone and weakstone to spin not workshop
Midday meal moment
Lsv spins Urza over anything else, even winning the game. Usually into lands.
The Sword/Thopter combo seems to almost never come together and seems far too weak for Vintage cube from my observations/playtesting.

agree. It's two cards that are basically useless without each other, and is even kind of fair when it comes together (minus urza)
Having watched zero games I predict a lot of games where Chrome Mox can only pitch a bomb like Balance.
Durdle burdling good times
In the last game spinning the Urza would never have worked because the Aven Interrupter makes them cost 2 extra.

TeamJBro is goated
Should play the naudo deck in a modern tourney and crush people with it

At last!!
Cube video!
Please don’t waste so many days on other formats. I cannot go to bed at night without an LSV Cube video.
"Let me just put the 13 combo's in this one deck here"
Suuuper excited to eat an edible before bed and watch this one. Love me a good workshop deck.
