A top-drawer piece. Along with the Colour Symphony, head shoulders above much Bliss. I think he needed extra-musical inspiration to write at full strength. That why his ballet and film music is so memorable. But check out the late Cello Concerto - very fine.
This is a beautiful symphonic expression of Psalm 23, one of the most comforting promises for those who trust in the Lord and His Messiah Jesus Christ. A musical depiction of bliss by Bliss, who is among the finest British composers; I understand he is dismissed with faint praise by some critics. but not by me.
This work was just such a WOW!-relevation when I heard it broadcast sometime back in the 1980's (Charles Groves and Liverpool?).
i realize I am kind of randomly asking but does anybody know of a good place to watch new tv shows online?
@Kaison Duncan Lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)
I think it’s fair to say that this is his masterpiece! The earlier Colour symphony is very good.
