I've got to admit that I agree with the housekeeper, and I'm not remotely a clean freak. Any police officer who drops cigar ash throughout a homicide site *ought* to be tossed out! Aside from that, I love Columbo as always....

@@jamesc5581 I hate to disappoint you, sir, but this is the Martin Landau episode. Now, you're right. He did die in the bathtub but the two twins transported the body onto the exercise machine after that to make it look like that he died while exercising. Also, if I remember correctly, Robert Conrad's victim was found in the gym with his gym clothes on with his neck/wind pipe seeming broken by a very heavy barbell.

Double Shock was one of the classic episodes. Martin Landau from "Mission Impossible" plays identical twins who team up to commit the murder. I also love the interaction between the polar opposites, the housekeeper who is obsessed with cleanliness, and the slovenly Columbo. The sergeant is a young Dabney Coleman who would go on to plague him in the episode "Columbo and The Murder of A Rock Star".
I thought I recognized his voice. Dabney from a young sergeant to a devious defence lawyer.
Legendary episode! I remember it well! It would have been nice to see the full movie! These teasers are a bit much! 😅

If Dabney Coleman wasn’t chewing gum the way he does, I might not have recognized him. Every role I’ve seen him in, he’s chewing gum or smoking…and it’s very distinct. I suppose I would have caught onto his voice, but he’s so young here I just didn’t realize it was him at first.

You guys are all, "Dabney Coleman this, Martin Landau that." You know what I saw in this clip? Catwoman (Julie Newmar)! Arch-nemesis, and sometime lover, of the world's OTHER greatest detective.
There were two actors who played characters who were arrested by both Batman and Columbo:
(1) Roddy McDowall, who played The Bookworm on Batman, and was the murderer Roger Stanford in "Short Fuse." Roger's aunt was played by another Bat-villain, Ida Lupino (Dr. Cassandra), who later played Johnny Cash's doomed wife on Columbo.
(2) Anne Baxter, who was both Zelda the Great and Olga, Queen of the Cossacks on Batman, and played murderous movie actress Nora Chandler in "Requiem for a Falling Star." (Olga's finace, Egghead, was of course played by Vincent Price, who played Vera Miles's business rival in "Lovely But Lethal," but was neither a killer nor victim.)
At least three Bat-villains were murder victims on Columbo: Julie Newmar in this episode, Ida Lupino in the Johnny Cash episode, and Jack Kruschen, who was Eivol Ekdol (the criminal who blackmailed Anne Baxter's Zelda into a life of crime) and also Tomlin Dudek in the Columbo chess episode "The Most Dangerous Match."

Yes I can understand WHY and it makes sense, it always comes down to the almighty dollar haha 😂 I do APPRECIATE the full episodes that are there, I hadn’t watched them before, would have been too young lol so I’ve been watching a lot of the tv series from back then and onwards. Columbo was really awesome , problem is it leaves you wanting to watch more episodes haha 😆 it would be well worth investing in a buying a DVD box set, I would probably have to buy a multi DVD player so I could play them here in NZ . Columbus in the 50’s was never more than 10 minutes partly because of programming. There’s hardware and software. The 50’s TVs were mostly hardware and too small so they couldn’t hold longer shows inside them.
Nowadays the software programming and larger memory with teamwork allows you to watch all sizes due to the chips and LEDs and Motorola involvement. The circuitry and transistors with programming makes the difference to make an overall racism free product. The proof is in the pudding.
