Why did the Bonneville T100 breakdown on me???

After a great weekend at the bike rally in Leeds, I return home to the broken down Bonneville T100.
I suspect that there is an issue with the ignition and thus begin my investigation into what went wrong, starting with the ignition circuit, spark plugs, and the HT coil.
To find out what I discovered, well you will just have to watch.

This sounds like the ECU. This exact problem happened to me in my Daytona 900. It just cut out on the dual carriageway. When it cooled, it would start again. Then cut out again when it got warm

Old carb model, no ECU. All fixed now. Have a look at my other videos and you will see what went down.

If it's a single coil feeding both HT leads my money's on that. Seen it before on older bikes (30/40 odd years ago, I'm an old fart). As the coil gets hot the windings expand and part and the process is reversed when it cools. Having said that, I did have a Suzuki GS125, again a million years ago (feels like yesterday) and the CDI unit (black box) was dodgy. I used to hit it with a hammer and normal service was resumed for a week or so. Don't do that folks, it fucks it completely eventually! 🙄👍

You are a man of my own thoughts, thats exactly the route I went down. The bike has a new coil, and is back on the road, but it was not the coil at fault.
All will be revealed shortly.

Yeah, as soon as it heats up, the ignition cuts out, no spark. Works fine when cold, so took a minute to diagnose it.
