Angel is also one of the kindest, most patient performers you'd ever want to meet. I caught him, Nita Strauss (who also plays with Alice Cooper's band), and Jacky Vincent (another of the guys on the collab video) in concert last year in a little club a couple of hours from here and they did a one-hour Q&A workshop before the show. Selfies and autographs for everybody. Please note that all three of them played at that level for their entire sets. They never let up. And then they all came out together. :o

That technique is not called legato. Sure his left hand is doing legato phrasing but he was asking about the right hand, which is called overhand fret muting. I know I'll sound like a total dork saying this, but Angel Vivaldi makes my heart smile. I saw him a few months ago and I was afraid I was going to get bored at an all instrumental show but I assure you, that was not the case. Thanks Alex, so much for doing this reaction.

Which one did you see? I saw him twice and both times he blew the doors off the place.

The technique he is doing while holding the neck is called tapping. It’s when instead of strumming or plucking the string you tap the fretboard to get the notes

Alex the technique is legato with his left hand, essentially just producing the sounds with a technique of pressing on to and pulling off of the strings. Right hand is just muting the strings to prevent unwanted noise.
It’s more for show than anything but it does look cool!

when he holds the neck he's just using his hand like a capo basically, like moving the nut down a fret and changing the pitch

that technique where he is holding the neck near the headstock is just muting the strings while hes fretting/tapping the notes on the neck. he hits his fingers on the neck hard enough for the notes to ring out just as if he were picking them with a guitar pick. But with tapping/fretting without picking, as soon as you take your fingers off the neck, the strings still vibrate making unwanted noise and makes it sound messy. Muting at the top of the neck cleans it up nicely.

The technique is called tapping. Hammer ons and pull offs. The guitar delivers the sound if you pull off and hammer on the strings hard and precise enough. He's holding his other hand on top of all the strings so they don't make their open string noise. So basicly he mutes all strings to make it sound clear. Hope it makes sense.
