- Skeletor has been enjoying some R&R in his own private paddock.
After several months of re-habilitation we hit a bump in the road.
I need to change my expectations for his future :(

You are a great horse mom & love u & all the horses. Prayers that skeletor will improve & he can have a good life with you! Your love for him is wonderful. Bless you both ❤️
Yes, Amen. Love seeing Skeletor.
My heart goes out to you. Being a good steward of a chronically unsound horse really asks us to be our highest selves.
Oh absolutely Ginger and well said !!
So very true.
I love how he tried to play with Huckleberry when he was feeling better, he's such a sweet boy! Praying!
I could see his little horse mind think about nipping Huckleberries tail. Then he decided that he would pass
@@kiminalaska9363😂😂😂 I agree!! That made me giggle

Skeletor hit the horse owner lottery! 🎉He is such a beautiful horse; you are such a blessing to your horses. Thanks for sharing his story with us.
Yes indeed skeletor along with all your horses are so so truly blessed with you as an owner As I am also blessed to come across your channel and I am loving it
Horses saved my life as a teenager and watching you care for these beauties is exactly what I need in my life. You really are a special person ❤
Horses saved my first 14 years on this earth, as well! God works in mysterious ways 👊💪🙋♀️💕
@@k-lo0007Same here & now watching This incredible YT Channel, I am working to return to them as I have been away from working with horses for wayyy too long !!
So glad Skelly is improving--he's such a sweet horse--I really hope he has a long and healthy life ahead of him
Started bawling the minute I saw his drop. I have never been so appreciative of a spoiler so to speak. ❤❤❤❤
Considering the bond that you seem to have with Skeletor, your distress is understandable.
I have a 17-year-old Belgian Draft cross Thoroughbred mare who has transitioned into full retirement due to a torn ligament that necessitated her early retirement. Under the guidance of my veterinarian, we have incorporated cold water hydrotherapy and ice boots into her care regimen to manage any flare-ups. This approach, meticulously outlined and approved by the vet, has proven highly effective in alleviating her symptoms.
Additionally, her diet is carefully managed to minimize sugar and starch intake. We are currently testing her for PPID (Pituitary Pars Intermedia Dysfunction), a condition typically associated with older horses but also seen in malnourished youngsters. This condition, similar to Cushing's disease, may be influencing her overall health.
Based on our experience, I highly recommend considering cooling boots or hydrotherapy as part of a comprehensive management strategy for similar conditions. These methods have made a significant difference in her well-being.
Thanks for this comment. It's clear you are as committed to your horse's health as CC is committed to all of her horses. Perhaps she is aware of this type of treatment, I'm not sure. Perhaps there is a way you could communicate with her.
⚠️ Heads Up,🤠CC Clever Cowgirl!
@The Clever Cowgirl
My heart dropped when I saw how ill Skeletor was. What a roller coaster ride of emotions! I’m hoping for his complete recovery.
Am only up to 8 minutes but stopped in order to say -
Seems Skeletor has that look (the I've seen in other dogs and cats) that says he KNOWs you are trying to help and giving him loving care.
That goes a long way to aide in any possible healing that can take place. You are so wonderfully caring for them all and so knowledgeable too.
Skeletor found the right one and the right place. Lighting a candle to St. Francis after the video for Skeletor.
I am not a vet. In listening to your narrative I wondered about the o2 exchange in relation to skeletons leg swelling. Could the fire smoke have any effects on lack of oxygen from his lungs to the furthest two extremities his two back legs to the tendons and connective tissue in fetlocks. He began to improve🎉 when the smoke disbursed.
In racing horses the STP Oxyhen exchange is exilerated the higher the demand for o2 exchange by the muscles the faster the lungs take in n̈ew o2.
Is there a corelation?
Could the lack of hand walking during the worst time of smoke remove fresh o2 from Skely's increased need for fresh air?
Smoke inhalation narrows the pains in people. We get headaches from the smoke. It makes is sick.
Just wondering if this has anything to do with clean air?
Hoping all will return to improved conditions with your hard work. Waiting is difficult. Stress on you is difficult. More will be revealed as time passes.
Some events we are powerless to control. That is when we must learn acceptance of what is.
My prayers for you and Skely.😮

An excellent point of interest and one that should be investigated, thank you @JillAxford
@@JillAxford Important thought!
@@JillAxford Excellent thought. The timing is very coincidental.
@@JillAxford I too, had noted that the air being clearer seemed to be in line with his improvement. Something to consider for sure.
Please, boy, get better. We aren’t ready.
Not for a looooong time. This boy has really captured my heart and I know I'm not alone.
If I ever get a serious injury, I'm moving into one of your barn stalls for your tender care. You're the best!
That's a great medical plan, given CC's success rate!
@@lesliefoldy2767 that’s seems like a fabulous plan!
Wish it could be more.
Thank you! ❤️
Mega vibes being sent for Skeletor. Don't forget to look after yourself too.
Skeletor is supremely lucky to have been picked up with you. what an angel you are.
I am soooo sorry you had to do that to Skelly. I hope that knowing you made the rest of his life, the best of his life. RIP Skelitor. He will be missed.
No matter the outcome of Skeletors future. You are giving him the Best Care and the Best Life. The alternative for him had you not bought him was horrific. ❤
Just saw that Skeletor has died, crying for him and you. Best for him and I guess he was saved from probable great pain and suffering if someone else had taken him at the sale, you loved him and that's the purpose of life. Farewell, little Skeletor, it was a pleasure to have known about you! I won't forget you.
I just watched a short on 9-18-2024 that said you had to put skelly down. So sorry for the loss. I really appreciate the great care you gave him from beginning to end. I wish everyone would care for an animal the way you do.
You are a wonder. Skeletor is blessed to be in your care.
I’m so sorry for his pain and yours. We all see the affection you have for Skelly. Know that we all support you!
I'm from the UK owning a horse here is much different. It's very expensive for one thing and sadly I'm sure cruelty is everywhere but still I'm so shocked at the scale of cruelty, suffering and the terrible state of many of the auction horses in the US. Horses are such gentle souls. Sending love and blessings for Skeletor ❤
Skeletor is such a sweet, happy goofball. I hope very much that he can live a long and painfree life. ❤
Your knowledge and your compassion never ceases to amaze me. Take care. Wishing you the very best as always.
I admire your vast knowledge and ability to maintain all your chores.
Skeletor knows you're his healing-- he loves and trusts you so much! I will envision him as a well aged boy with happy feet and a joyful spirit! 💞
Indeed ❤️
❤❤❤❤❤❤
Poor sweet Skeletor.😢 This is so unfair, after what he's endured in his short life. The only luck he's ever had was the day you brought him home. No matter what happens, he's in the best place he could be and no one would give him better care. 💕💗
My heart sunk when I saw how serious his swelling and lameness was. I think you and your vet are doing a marvelous job, checking and rechecking every avenue for his healing but knowing in the back of your minds that the last act of kindness may be in his future. I know everyone in your fan base is sending up healing prayers for Skeletor and for you. CC, the way you do these videos and explain the physical and mental health of your horses makes me feel like they're 'my' horses too. I bet I'm not alone in this. CC, you're just the BEST!! 🐎💜🐎
Amen 😇
Well said!
Amen !! Couldn't have put it better myself !! Love This Channel !!
Skelly just wanted more of his SUPER MAMA'S attention & love (subconsciously, of course). Thank you for teaching us so very much about horses! 🐎😍😘
Thank you CC for all you do..nothing but positive vibes for Skelly and all you are working towards 😊
Thank you! ❤️
I hope skeletor lives a long, healthy life, even if he’s just a pasture pet his personality is infectious. But if not at least he was able to know what true love and kindness is, which he likely wouldn’t have known if it wasn’t for you.❤
This ❤
I love you for giving these horses the best possible chance for a happy life.
What an angel you are. ❤
I can't even imagine what you were going through mentally & emotionally, we have all grown to love this boy as much as you. 🥰🥰🥰🥰
Well, at least we know where "The Skelly" comes from.
You know CC, Its so funny how people can get emotionally attached to an animal (horse or dog) and just want them to be happy and healthy above all else. Next to Scarlett, I admit that Skeletor is the one I wish I owned---that ain't never gonna happen. So you take the best care of Skeletor that you know how and if you need financial help I'm sure us Skeletor fans would dig deep. Please keep us in the loop and let's all think good thoughts for 1 of God's special creations. There's only 1 of him and I for one want to see him have a long life!! 🐎🐎🐎🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Here come a zillion good vibes for Skeletor from Toronto, Ontario, Canada!❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊
Scary and heartbreaking. Please keep us posted.😢
If only all living creatures were as loved and cared for as CC's animals, what a world it would be! 🐎🦮🐱❤
I never wanted to hug a horse more than I do right now.❤️
Fly high, Skeletor 🌈 You will be missed 💔
A little something to help with Skele’s bills.
Thank you! ❤️
No one loves us like the animals we care for. No one drives us crazier than the animals we love
He is so beautiful! It is so amazing to see his fun personality.
He's such a lucky boy to have someone so caring, attentive and knowledgeable looking after him. And he's such a handsome fellow.
Seeing Skelator “horsing around” on day nine made me feel so very happy.
But the reality of maybe having to put him down because of the degenerative disease makes me sad.
I’m keeping my hopes up though for a recovery and a relatively long life for him.
Hang in there CC and keep your chin up!
Here’s asking the good Lord’s blessing on one of his most beautiful creatures! 🙏🏻🕊 I pray for complete healing for Skelly & that God pours His grace on you, dear girl! Thank you for being such a wonderful, caring & loving steward of all your animals! They love you very much. It reminds me of the words in the children’s poem, Mary Had A Little Lamb, “Why does the lamb love Mary so? Why, Mary loves the lamb you know.” 💕
It is very obvious how much Skeletor loves & trusts you. He's a sweetheart for sure.
I've been part of large cat colonies for most of my life; kidney disease is terrible in cats. From sad experience, I learned that the worst thing a caregiver can do is to condemn/force treat thru extreme methods an animal to misery and suffering just to say you kept them alive. It's a hard lesson to learn.....😢
Being able to end the suffering of a pet is such a comfort, though it means saying goodbye. We know this decision may be waiting for us to make when we welcome that new member of our family. At least we can do this for our pets. I fervently wish our society could evolve to allowing us to make this choice for ourselves.
@@janwatson-q3l
Amen to that last!
Oh man, horses!! I totally get the mental strain part. So glad he's feeling better... Your approach of just helping your horses meet their potential is wonderful. Even if his highest and best use is being a cheerful pasture pet. Maybe he can learn tricks!
Putting out mega good vibes for Skeletor’s total healing! Not only is he gorgeous but he has such a wonderful sense of humor! How he wanted Huckleberry to play and when he used to fetch the ball❤️ what a guy❣️
Great care for Skeletor. Eons ago I rubbed a 2 year old champion. We were getting her ready for her three year old campaign and she developed a swollen place on a tendon. Never bothered her, but we could not diagnose it or get it to come down. I worked for the man who trained the great Ruffian. My champ went to the farm to begin her life as a broodmare. Whew! All the best to you and Skeletor.
Just read William Nack's book, Ruffian, A Racetrack Romance. Nack wrote descriptively and was very heartfelt talking about the very young Ruffian.
Skeletor is in tremendously loving hands and I am sure that Ruffian and all horses are telepathicallly in tune to each other in some way.
@@sunnyseacat6857 I'll make sure to give it a read.
I watched her last race! She was amazing!
@@sunnyseacat6857 Ruffian 💜
Did you ever hear about " Black Gold" a Kentucky Derby winner that finished on three legs and was destroyed by the Veterinarian...so heart breaking!!
You're truly an equine angel of mercy. Your sincere compassion is very comforting to experience. God bless.
I am very sorry for your lost. RIP Beautiful Boy.
Oh no. He is such a joyful horse.
Skeletor is so very lucky to have fallen into your hands! Thank you for all that you do and I am so very sorry for your pain. We will keep prayers going
What a clever and empathetic young lady
Praying that Skeletor will fully recover ❤🙏
The stress level of trying to keep the animals we love healthy through a degenerative condition is immense. Walking that line of life and death in our minds is a constant. Trying everything we can think of to help. In the end, it is what it is...we deal with what comes. We give them the best life we can. In your case, you give them a life they would never have had both in quality and quantity. I feel such joy watching skeletor enjoy life so fully and my heart breaks to think of that ending. Skeletor is such a gem. And if I may quote the original. " I dare anything. I am skeletor. " He will always give it his best shot. I am keeping you both in prayer and sending tons of love and good vibes. ❤
What a wonderful comment! "I dare anything..."
@@patcummings6950 Beautifully stated.
Always sending you, your husband, the horses, Huckleberry and Tiny good healthy vibes. When you love a person, friend or pet...ANY decision made is made out of LOVE. So regardless of what happens he is loved and so much healthier. We never know what the future holds, but he has been treated with kindness, love and support since coming home with you. In my professional life I was a certified wound, ostomy and continence nurse for 26 of my 30 year career. I had a patient come to our hospital in horrible condition, malnourished with multiple stage 4 pressure injuries. He had wounds over all his bony prominences. He was too unhealthy and too contracted for surgery. The nurses spent several weeks feeding, repositioning and caring for his wounds. They did become more clean but were not going to heal. We all knew this but did our best for him. The nurses were crushed when he passed. I wrote a letter to the nurse manager thanking all the nurses who cared for him. Sometimes the goal is not healing...but to be humanely cared for/loved/supported...kept fed and warm. Another valid goal of wound care would be for a nurse to control drainage, odor and pain. These were our goals for this particular patient and I congratulated them on their efforts for a job well done even though we were saddened by the outcome. He was warm, nourished and clean when he passed. That is what any living being should have when their life ends. So going forward just know that this retired nurse in Mississippi completely supports you with any decision you make. Period. I understand your process and decision making. I also respect it. This could not have been better stated than in Skelly's video. Thank you for your compassion and care CC.
Thank you for caring for these horses. They need you so very much and they always seem so grateful.
Clever girl. You're amazing. Xo
It broke my heart to see him in so much pain. I hate seeing anyone, animal or human, suffer. I pray that he has a long and pain free life. I am also so thankful that you truly care about the animals in your care. God bless you.
Thanks!
Thank you! ❤️
Sweet boy. Fingers crossed that he will soon feel better ❤
I was one who asked about Mort. I’m sorry you had to bear the pain of making that terrible decision. It was the right one and the kindest thing to do for him. I’m joining in sending prayers and healing vibes for Skeletor. If he can be healed and live a good life, I know you are the one who can make it happen! Bless you, and thank you for sharing this journey with all of us!
Skeletor and you are in my prayers. There is nothing more stressful than having an ill loved one, especially when there are so many unknowns. You are so wise to live in the moment and enjoy small victories. I hope you are taking care of yourself, as well. May God bless you.
It's so unspeakably sad when medication begins to be as detrimental as the condition it treats.
Mort was so lucky to have you as are all of your horses. You give your all whether it's time, attention, veterinary care, special food, careful rehabilitation and bringing them along slow so they can be the best they can possibly be and have a good life. I salute you CC and all that you do and all that you are.
This ability you described may be the one human element that might be what our species can use to better understand the mystery of being and the conundrum of existence. There comes a time when all of what we may know is less than we could know and it may be a time when intuition and our heart may help fill the gaps. 'The bigger the bonfire the more darkness is revealed'.
@artemisXsidecross. That is beautiful. Love it! Thank you. 🌞
