There's actually a decent airstrip on the Newmarket racecourse, it's owned by the Jockey Club and it's really difficult to get permission to land there.
I generally won't bother if it's over 10mph because it means I won't be able to go very far. I usually cruise around 1000 feet, but like to vary it quite a lot.
