Me and Sid are both still alive and are happily living in retirement in the countryside. He looks great, I've put on weight and gone bald. Trevor James.
I can't believe I've never seen this great act before. So glad to hear that you and Sid are enjoying retirement. I'm curious to know if you ever take Sid out for the occasional performance. I wish you both good health.
Trevor! OH dear God! This is my old friend Trevor James in a performance I missed at the time and I've been trying to find it ever since. I first met Trevor when he joined our land-based pirate radio station (Radio Aquarius 1972 to 1975), and his shows were always very amusing. When the station broke up, we lost contact but occasionally our paths crossed and it was obvious that he was heading for some kind of fame. Trevor, I had heard that you were not too well, let's hope that's not true.
I watched this on TV in '97. I was in my twenties and I remember tears running down the face of my mom and I as we struggled to breathe for laughing. Don't know where you are now, Trevor... but we love you man : ) Thanks for all the giggles and the happy memories o/ o/ o/
There have been several occasions in my life where I have finished a book and re-read it again completely. This is the first time in my life I just had to watch a comedy video again. It is that good!
Ho, I love Trev and Sid. I wet myself. Best ever ventriloquist performance. The moustache, the bloody flea bag of a parrot … all excellent. Sorry you are retired but all the best. I check you and Sid out a couple of times a week! Every week, and all my friends have seen your superb act. KL. From Down under.
That was from the Royal Variety Performance at London Victoria Palace Theatre on the 30th November 1997. The RVP is an annual affair attended by the Queen/King and other members of the Royal family. If you notice, as well as bowing to the audience he bows separately to the side where the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh would be sitting.
The things you find on youtube. So much fun to learn about my country's birds from a British comedy show, hahahahahaha... This is so funny. Thanks for uploading.
this is the funniest act I have ever seen, and I have seen a lot of vent acts, I can'tstop watching it, great manipulation, great character, just great, wow, this is soooo funny, thanks for sharing
As a kid I actually remember watching this and absolutely wetting myself! I laughed so hard I fell off the settee!! Great act. Happy to know they're still around.
The ventriloquist is Trevor James (as announced by Des O'Connor a few seconds into the clip). Trevor appeared with Sid during much of the final series of legendary anarchic UK kids' TV show Tiswas in 1981-2. This clip must have been the thick end of a decade later. gc
Classic and absolutely funny...till it devolves utterly into a struggling ventriloquial spoof. Reminds me of Albert Brooks classic take on the totally inept ventriloquist act. Here, the craft of the comic artist remains always in subtext. Wonderful! The audience perceives the 'incongruity' between what the 'professor' says and what the character actually feels. Thanks for posting.
I love ventriloquism! I can't ventriloquise for love or money though, but I can make a puppet seem alive through movement and Trevor, that was the best I've seen. Bloody funny stuff. 😂
I love this act. So simple yet so effective. The reaction of shock from the bird when Trevor starts talking. I actually cry with laughter when I watch this. Nice little surprise when the bird shits too.
never seen some one with a bird so funny in a long time //the idea is a great one that if he gos round the uk showing this act he could make all the young ones laugh and think the birds real very well done young MAN
Here in 2024 its still Comedy gold😂👏👏🇬🇧
Was hilarious.
I’m seeing a lot of old acts here on TH-cam this week! They’re original, witty and so funny!!
I watch this every 3 or 4 months,
always puts a smile on my face.
Such a shame we don't have this anymore on tv,world would benefit from it,more laughter.....
...even if it is canned.
Nina Conti and Monkey are pretty good....as is Granny....and she really is a ventriloquist.
Somebody would get offended and try to cancel it 😢
Proper entertainment, no swearing, or shouting, just hilarious creativity. Thank you for posting this.
best way to get a free beer I have ever seen, that ventriloquist is smart!
This is so funny. I wish there were more acts like this still around
Tears in my eyes AGAIN! I've watched this hundreds of times, and I still laugh. to me its the gormless expression on Sid's face.Classic!
Never seen this before and I'm so glad I now have. Good old British comedy at its very best. Thank you Trevor and Sid, have a great retirement

Trevor James :Has Sid picked up any other songs or other drinking habits?🙄
I can't believe I've never seen this great act before. So glad to hear that you and Sid are enjoying retirement. I'm curious to know if you ever take Sid out for the occasional performance. I wish you both good health.

I love visual comedy. Well done. Laughed till I cried. Brilliant.
This was posted 15 years ago and the first time ever I've seen it or heard of him. Funny comedian and a great Parrot... Had a great laugh.
Laughed til I cried... watched it a second time and laughed even more!
Fun fact. The guy who holds the parrot lives next door to my grandad and he’s my family’s close friend and comes up to my house all the time
he is ok now?
@@jackburton5085 yes! He’s doing very well, we saw him the other day :)

How have I not seen this before 😂😂. Bravo!
Hilarious. Thanks so much for the upload.
First genuinely funny ventriloquist act in human history... I'm impressed.
Randy Feltface and Sammy J blow this away...
Ho, I love Trev and Sid. I wet myself. Best ever ventriloquist performance. The moustache, the bloody flea bag of a parrot … all excellent.

KL. From Down under.
First time I have seen this which is so unusual seeing how much time I search You Tube. Loved it, classic English comedy at it's best.
I have watched a LOT of ventriloquist acts on tv and TH-cam but this is the funniest one EVER! I'm STILL laughing!
true!

Funny, funny stuff!!!! Thanks Sid & Trevor.
Fantastically performed...so funny...😂😂😂..thank you
Only in Britain, wonderful comedy, so creative. Thanks, Jp
A great original act, some have tried to copy the idea but none did this as well as Trevor. A true showman.
It was Trevor James and Sid the parrot. Cheers for the upload.
I love how comically bad it's meant to be, makes it funnier to me
That was HILARIOUS! It's rare that something makes me laugh out loud that much!
I never laughed so much while watching a TH-cam video as when I saw Sid attempt to sing while Trevor sipping beer.
Loved the way he coordinates his hands to show parrots emotions and feelings.
Brilliant. Laughed all the way through.
Brilliant I remember seeing that and still makes me laugh now.😂😂😂😂
Absolutely brilliant😊

Brilliant. So funny. My favourite vent performance.
Great stupid hilarious FUN! Clean family FUN! Oh, how times have changed [unfortunately!].
Genius, little to no speaking from the puppet, yet I laughed a lot, well done indeed!
Greatness is not always recognized when it first occurs. Hopefully, Trevor James is well and enjoying his fame here on You Tube.
