@Gaius Wyrden All they did was adapt GRRM novels which is what got them the high ratings and reviews. Their own writing and work as evident in seasons 7&8 were utter garbage and done plot twists for the sake of it without understanding what made ASOIAF impactful in the first place.
@Gaius Wyrden Except season 8 was actually that horrible. They ruined years of character development, plot threads and story development within one season. Characters also had ridiculous plot armour, battle strategies were horrific and characters kept making stupid mistake after stupid mistake and lived whereas in early seasons a mistake is costly and would result in death. Their were also needles subversions for the sake of it without having actual build up just to shock the audience whereas in early seasons this was never the case as when rewatching you can see all the mistakes characters made which lead to their deaths or story development.

I agree. It's really unfair to judge a show by just 1 season out of 8 but the last season was so bad it really changed the way I thought about Game of Thrones. all the "unexpected and shocking" deaths didn't seem to have a purpose after all to serve the characters.
The season should have had 4 more episodes. The night king battle for winter fell was too short and the final 2 episodes should've been more filled too. Although I think it is plausible for daenerys to have gone mad due to all her loss there wasn't really a snapping point so maybe it should've shown the unsolid losing or something or made her attack right after they killed missandei

@@josh_wood yeah its really good. Although when the attack first begins its just impossible to see anything. Also real stupid they put the people in the crypt but that was honestly pretty funny. I just wanted the battle with the nightking to fill the season (really the series) more then it did.
I believe in the books Martin will be making tyrion push Dany into destroying kingslanding but in the show tyrion was made too loveable

I've never went from hating a character in a series to that same character being my indefinite favorite in such a short period of time.

Game of Thrones writers room. “You know how we spent so much time with Arya becoming a faceless man/deadly assassin? Well let’s forget about that just like we forgot about Sir Ilan Payne. Let’s make her abandon her family for no reason so she can be Dora the Explorer. Oh and remember what a big deal it was to discover John Snow is really a Targaryen and true Heir to the Throne? Fans expect that to lead to something so let’s subvert expectations by forgetting about it in the final episode.
Some of these are legitimate book theories:
- Jaime as the volanqar
- Arya killing people as a "faceless man"
- The Starks being descended from The Others (this one actually has a lot of support when you read the books)
Valonqar being Jaime also makes a lot of thematic sense in the books.

Never have I agreed with Kimmel more. I'm glad to see S8 and I'm hyped for Episode 3 the Battle of Winterfell but I'm also kind of sad bc this will be the final season of this great show with such a great cast of characters. Especially Jon,Dany,Jaime,Tyrion,Arya,Tormund,Davos,Bran and Brienne.

Starks are one of the first men. First men and children of the forest were fighting a war. The children created the night king after capturing one of the first men. He could've been a stark. Starks are not the descendants of the white walkers, it could be the other way around though!

@@sweetcreature2075 Just a speculation, we don't know for sure. He was one of the first men though. Doesn't mean anything for the story as things stand. Night King has a different purpose now.
@JDMime You mean Rhaegar? How will he become a white walker when there was no sign of white walkers or the children of the forest at the Trident? And Robert used to be the greatest warrior at the time. It wasn't much of a surprise that Rhaegar was killed by Robert in battle with many watching!
@@sweetcreature2075 There is more evidence in the books as well that the night king may have been a Stark when he was human. I am not sure how that will play out, but as a side note (though possibly related?) I think there is more to the phrase "there must always be a stark in Winterfell" than we realize.

I mean, he probably didn't get the whole script of all the characters. He probably saw his own part and thought, "yeah that is weird but I'm sure the show has to focus on more important plots like the Night King and Dany etc", only to realize the whole thing is a shitshow when it came out :(

That's because he's not English. Arya is pronounced differently in an English accent as well. When I first started watching Thrones, I honestly thought Sansa was Sanser because of the accent. Kinda stupid but true

Even a final with daenerys turned into a dragon would have been better than the actual final 🤷♂️
