Jan Melkebeek What plot are you talking about? THEY CAN'T TALK FOR 7 YEARS, of course things are going fast now because the show will finish sooner than later
D&D have an impossible task at hand: They have to finish the story that was drew a massive crowd because of the interplay between fantasy, sex, politics, action, without having the necessary time to expand on certain things anymore. I think the mistake was committing to a 13 episode timeline -- Im not in the industry, so I dont know why they did that, but this season feels like a brief synopsis of a larger story because they no longer have GRRM's writing (and the enormous amount of time he took to write the first books) AND tying up loose was never going to be as satisfying as the build up. Look at LOTR for example -- its rare the you see fans think the 3rd movie was their favorite for the same reason; the end never feels as fulfilling as the build up.
Blown away by the VFX and the effort put into these episodes. But the night king doesn't look as menacing and terrifying as he used to. No offence to Vlad, but Richard did a better a job at looking like pure evil. Bring back the original actor!!! And where the hell is ghost?!
Yeah! That's about my only complaint about the episode. Bring back Richard Brake for the role as the Night King! He was awesome in the fourth and fifth season.
I think they mentioned in a previous interview that they had to cut the appearance of the direwolves down because it was eating up their VFX budget and it basically came down to a choice between direwolves or dragons, based on this episode I'd say they made the right choice. :P
When I read the comments, I can see that most people don´t understand the difference between horrible character decisons and bad plot writing. Tyrion wanted to conquer Casterly Rock to weaken Cercei. This turned out to be a bad decision and nobody complained about the plot. Now the characters made another bad decision, when trying to catch a wight beyond the wall. Its unlikely that this will change Cerceis mind. Have you ever thought about that the characters in the story aren´t as omniscient as we are? They do mistakes and thats what makes them humans. I want to attach another point. I often hear people complain that no major character was killed in the last episodes. To be honest, I think killing major characters was never the case in Game of Thrones. There were just two major POV characters in the books, who were killed - Catelyn and Ned Stark (Catelyn was revieved as Lady Stoneheart, so technically its one person). These were the only two major characters that were killed of in the show. I admit, that many side-characters died in the past, but we never really cared about them. There are 12 major POV characters in ASOIAF who are still alive. Daenerys, Tyrion, Jon, Arya, Sansa, Bran, Theon, Davos, Jaime, Cercei, Brienne, Samwell Its wrong to say, that GRRM killed so many major characters, he mainly killed side characters with larger parts like: Viserys, Robert, Khal Drogo, Renly, Joffrey, Robb, Ygritte, Oberyn, Tywin, Show exclusive characters: Hodor, Tommen, Jojen, Ramsay, Stannis All of these characters contributed to major plot developments: Viserys - changed Danys personality Robert - caused the war of the five kings Khal Drogo - with him, Daenerys would just have been his wife and not a queen Renly - introduced the whole Brienne plot Joffrey - Sansas escape and Tyrions trial Robb - anger against the Freys, better alliances for house Stark later on (The north remembers) Ygritte - Sets Jons way to Daenerys Oberyn - Tyrions escape to Essos Tywin - Jaimes anger against Tyrion I don´t think, that anyone will read my comment, but I honestly dont know why this series is so popular for killing off 'major' characters. All of the important ones are still alive.
You wanna explain how capturing a Wight was a bad decision? it did just what it was supposed to do, it made Cersei realize that the White Walkers are in fact real and a VERY credible threat
James Pelletier not really though because she didn’t change her mind she’s still more interested in ruling then she is in helping fight the white walkers did you even pay attention?
You know what, fans only ever talk about the storyline and that, but jesus! The amount of work that goes on behind the scenes is unbelievable! Amazing work!
Every single time I watch these anatomy of a scene videos I'm completely mindblown. The amount of work and creativity that goes into GOT is out of this world. D&D and everyone who works on the show are incredible. It's so inspiring to see.
TH-cam comments section : 95% people talking about other people criticising the show 5% people critising the show 0% people discussing the episode and giving their theories for the future of the show
I'm over Jon Snow. He is a colossally bad leader as is his Auntie. No sense having good counsel if you won't ever take it. At least Cersei listens to Cliburn. Sansa take the North and with Little Finger turn your attention to Kings Landing. Arya go kick rocks, you don't have the aptitude for this game. Maybe you can find the remnants of Ice have them forge you a new sword and Sansa can let you be queen's justice after you kill Ilyn Payne. Cersei prevails in the end.
Yes, this show has its faults, especially now that d&d have run out of source material. But still, they've done amazing work at telling such a complex story asoiaf is, and made a heavy-detailed fantasy novel, a lot of you would've never heard of, into a cultural fenomenom. It's ok to be critical, but don't act like you're entitled to anything
D&D: "So George, we're writing the scripts for season 7. What happens in TWOW?" GRRM: "The Great Other kills one of Dany's dragons and uses it to destroy the Wall!" D&D: "That sounds amazing! How does it happen?" GRRM: "No idea. Are we done here? I need to get back to the Jets game."
I don't know if I should laugh about this or not, but that's exactly what they did. They used an amazing scene and ignored the part of figuring out how to get there. Such a disappointment.
I also watched it last week..after my brother recommended it now I am not able to come outside to this series,,this is pure emotion and it should keep going always 😊
I have even more respect for the actors to see how they can harness all these different emotions as well as carry out their action sequences as if they truly are on frozen lakes, riding dragons and watching their dragon child die 😭
what a hell lot of hardwork has been done to create sets, then do the animations .... Speechless.... A big big salute to each and every one of person who has worked back stage to create such a masterpiece!
The level of craftsmanship and work is truly remarkable. Behind the scenes from episode to episode creating a terrifyingly real experience for the viewer is awesome.
It's an amazing work, for this series the real workaholics and the people who deserve more credits are not the actors but the technical crew, their work and sweat is what made this series incredible to watch, I mean the realistic scenes, dragons etc... I just got my new ambition now .. hopefully I will get to work on one of amazing set like this... big up lads...
Having Tormund, The Hound, Jon Snow and Jorah Mormont all together in one scene is pretty fucking epic. Especially when Gendry has stopped rowing and saves the day.
Thinhk that there are two different groups moaning - in general I for example do think that the action should really be long time coming, there should be proper lead-in to it, there are so many action movies etc, but only one GOT.
I always envy the people who work on the set of Game Of Thrones, these people will get to tell their grandchildren "I contributed to the making of the greatest show in history" God I wish I had that privilege, even if it was a teeny tiny responsibility I'd be proud of myself for the rest of my life knowing that I had a hand in making of a masterpiece
I like that the effects artists can create amazing things but have the guts to hide them in mist or smoke as well. It really gives them a realism that is missing in most CG.

This... this level of dedication and talent is why the show is so damn popular.
A BIG 👍 to Alan..
Such a phenomenal director!!🙌🙏
Blown away by the VFX and the effort put into these episodes. But the night king doesn't look as menacing and terrifying as he used to. No offence to Vlad, but Richard did a better a job at looking like pure evil. Bring back the original actor!!! And where the hell is ghost?!
Yeah! That's about my only complaint about the episode. Bring back Richard Brake for the role as the Night King! He was awesome in the fourth and fifth season.
Melcher Sjöman His mannerisms, body language and appearance in Hardhome was on point. That shot of him raising the dead, simply iconic.
I think they mentioned in a previous interview that they had to cut the appearance of the direwolves down because it was eating up their VFX budget and it basically came down to a choice between direwolves or dragons, based on this episode I'd say they made the right choice. :P
InxCobain Aah fair enough. I guess beggars can't be choosers
yesssss....i liked the original night king better!
Daenerys, Tyrion, Jon, Arya, Sansa, Bran, Theon, Davos, Jaime, Cercei, Brienne, Samwell
Its wrong to say, that GRRM killed so many major characters, he mainly killed side characters with larger parts like:
Viserys, Robert, Khal Drogo, Renly, Joffrey, Robb, Ygritte, Oberyn, Tywin,
Show exclusive characters: Hodor, Tommen, Jojen, Ramsay, Stannis
All of these characters contributed to major plot developments:
Viserys - changed Danys personality
Robert - caused the war of the five kings
Khal Drogo - with him, Daenerys would just have been his wife and not a queen
Renly - introduced the whole Brienne plot
Joffrey - Sansas escape and Tyrions trial
Robb - anger against the Freys, better alliances for house Stark later on (The north remembers)
Ygritte - Sets Jons way to Daenerys
Oberyn - Tyrions escape to Essos
Tywin - Jaimes anger against Tyrion
I don´t think, that anyone will read my comment, but I honestly dont know why this series is so popular for killing off 'major' characters. All of the important ones are still alive.
The one most interesting comment I read in ages. Thank you ^_^
Very nice
your comment is read (before the winter came), yeah buddy your comment showed your deep study of this fuking series (The only Best)
I could watch behind the scenes all day ! I love it .
Every single time I watch these anatomy of a scene videos I'm completely mindblown. The amount of work and creativity that goes into GOT is out of this world. D&D and everyone who works on the show are incredible. It's so inspiring to see.
this D&D compliment aged poorly
@@arthur99mun aged like milk
@@NotSoOriginal06 it aged like joe biden
"We built Nature" :D Thanks to the team! It was an ABSOLUTE DELIGHT to watch
These guys are legends... Salute for such hard work
they threw the direwolves, actually important characters, under the bus for a pointless CGI bear.
A CGI direwolf is much harder to do than a zombie cgi Bear, therefore it costs more money.
cat cost more money..and I'm glad they're gone
cat goddamnit we want a zombie polar bear lol haha
@@joaoloureiro163 they use Northern Inuit Dogs. They're not CGI
@@Abolish_The_ATF they're green screened, which is really hard to do with fluffy dogs.
Anyone else notice the Hound's grin behind Tormund's back at 2:20? Lol! So awesome!
Just like the one in ur dp 😂😂😂
The little *ting* sfx when We see it makes it legend
Hound in the movie: will kill you with all the hate in his heart
Actor playing Hound: will kill you with big teddy bear kindness
WHAT AN AMAZING EPISODE!
OTDA the best!
I found chad summerchild
it was nowhere near the best lol
Your opinion is unpopular. But it's your opinion, so.
Rariix, This episode currently holds a 9.8 on IMDB. A site, which literally indicates popularity. So...
Thank you to everyone who worked on this show, the professionalism of these guys is incredible I’m so grateful to have seen this show!
"No, you're not a bear, your name is Toby." LOL the HOUND must survive!
sabertooth IKR ? Let's pray he does.
TH-cam comments section :
95% people talking about other people criticising the show
5% people critising the show
0% people discussing the episode and giving their theories for the future of the show
Sad that so many people have a sheep mentality and get so defensive for a fucking show and constructive criticism
Night King actually just wants peace.
It's not even constructive critism tho haha. It's just people calling the writing shit and that's it
I'm over Jon Snow.
It was the opposite 10 hours ago. Most people were complaining. Don't know where all those comments went though ..wink wink..
One of my favorite episodes! Cool to see all the work that went into making it so amazing
P S still stewing over a year later? I guess your life must be extra lame dick if this is what you’re focusing on still lol
I like how suddenly everyone's an expert on script writing, must be the school holidays again
wew
lol i agree
Doesn't take an expert to recognize bad writing
source?
mak k you don't need to be a scatologist to recognize a pile of shit
D&D: "So George, we're writing the scripts for season 7. What happens in TWOW?"
GRRM: "The Great Other kills one of Dany's dragons and uses it to destroy the Wall!"
D&D: "That sounds amazing! How does it happen?"
GRRM: "No idea. Are we done here? I need to get back to the Jets game."
Sigh... :/
I do actually
:|
I don't know if I should laugh about this or not, but that's exactly what they did. They used an amazing scene and ignored the part of figuring out how to get there. Such a disappointment.
*wild card stories
So much effort, yet so much criticism. For me, effort paid off, the episode was great!
It’s ok to be nuanced and to separate
1) amazing sets and production work
and
2) piss-poor, good for nothing writing
I never cared about this show until a friend made me watch and I was blown away at how addicting it was.
I also watched it last week..after my brother recommended it now I am not able to come outside to this series,,this is pure emotion and it should keep going always 😊
Omg!!!! I thought that fire sword was also animation!!!
Tanusree Ghosh go to kitchen
Best reply ever
Mad queen you"re a rude person
Tanusree you will see that my D is no animation either
hey....tanusree . r u in facebook ?? I really wanted to talk to you..
not about GOT.... :0
"No you're not, your name's Toby!" xD
BillyWhizz. Just as funny in real life.
Jon and Viserion just took the ice bucket challenge to another level
the people behind screen - you guys really deserve a salute.. respect.
2:21 Tormund and the Hound made my day with dem smiles haha
Yorbolero same from 8:45 on "u have come down really hard" so tormund, so hound 😆
I have even more respect for the actors to see how they can harness all these different emotions as well as carry out their action sequences as if they truly are on frozen lakes, riding dragons and watching their dragon child die 😭
"What will it be, death? Or exile?"
Buenomars Death... By exile
Cake? or death?
Cake is a lie!
what a hell lot of hardwork has been done to create sets, then do the animations .... Speechless.... A big big salute to each and every one of person who has worked back stage to create such a masterpiece!
"When I come towards you, I'm a bear."
Rory McCann: "No you're not - your name's Toby."
God I love that man. LOL.
Ahaha the hound at 05:20 I laughed my ass off
1:33 LOL the flamming sword guy. Don't get too excited now =D
Candi Soda Lol, nicely spotted
That's hilarious!
The level of craftsmanship and work is truly remarkable. Behind the scenes from episode to episode creating a terrifyingly real experience for the viewer is awesome.
1:34
Look at me casually waving a flaming sword !
Haha I didn't notice that. Awesome
In the final footage, During that scene there's a wilding fighting and swinging his sword at nothing.
WHAT A GREAT EPISODE! P.S. Thank you for not killing Tormund!
CarnivalOfTheDamned9 he should've died.. that wouldve made the thing interesting..
@@FreezErmac519 no, enough beloved characters died.
@@atwistedcat6233 this is game of thrones its good cuz of the deaths we dont want a dora the explorer show here
You must have ZERO taste
In terms of special effects and action yes it's super fun but horribly written
It's an amazing work, for this series the real workaholics and the people who deserve more credits are not the actors but the technical crew, their work and sweat is what made this series incredible to watch, I mean the realistic scenes, dragons etc... I just got my new ambition now .. hopefully I will get to work on one of amazing set like this... big up lads...
And this folks is why GOT is so successful, it has real passion and real work.
2:19 the Hound in the back
The subtle 'ding' sound when he smiles is the best :D
Susie O'Sullivan damn that's what I was going to say lol
“Gingers were kissed by fire god” Tormund😭
Berrick has some incredible swordsman skills, would you look at that 1:34
This is insane men,, that was cinema scale prduction
yes, and a poor script after they ran out of books. its not bad, its just kinda ordinary and cheesy.
"You're not a bear- your name's Toby!" LMAO
Polar Bear scene was intense, If Thoros was more drunk he would have killed that thing lol no one beats a hammered Thoros of Myr!
SandorClegane f u. You should've saved him.
irtiza syed Hey, hey, Sandor still got issues to work on, alright? Leave him be!
SandorClegane the polar bear died by a dagger ffs. Even sandors full swing didnt kill it
I know I fucked up...atleast I saved that ginger Tormund, even tho he loves that big bitch Brienne!
SandorClegane the polar bear scene was also pointless
The hound in real life is fucking epic
Damien Wayne Yeah, Rory McCann is awesome ♡
LadyPrincessDiana especially when he was like "no you're not you're name is Toby" shit got me hard
LadyPrincessDiana yarp
The best show of all times I would see it again and again and again and again, I wish they continue the show and add season 9 and 10 and so on.
Everything must come to an end and there was no kingdoms left to fight, everybody died. Lol.
Having Tormund, The Hound, Jon Snow and Jorah Mormont all together in one scene is pretty fucking epic. Especially when Gendry has stopped rowing and saves the day.
The plot wasn't the best, but the darn action and cinematography was amazing!
Yes, the cinamatography was amazing, action was poorly shot imo, and the plot was total garbage
Thanks for the ride
Like literally...
As an avid watcher and book reader i still dont feel we all appreciate the work involved in this show. The guys have done an incredible job.
The part of this episode when Tormund almost died was one of the most traumatic experiences of my life
6:23. Am i the only one who read "Sex Supervisor" ? ahaha
António Vandias I'm sure they one to hell conduct the sex scenes! They could dedicate an entire fearurette on that alone!
António Vandias 😹😹😹
António Vandias 😹😹😹
I saw it too
It says SFX supervisor dude
People moan when there is action saying it's rushed but then there's less action people moan they are dragging it on. Can't win
Usually two different types of folks. Some want it smoothed paced while others only want battles and effects.
Link And the ones who love both
It seems like no one is pleased these days. The amount of bitching is baffling.
Thinhk that there are two different groups moaning - in general I for example do think that the action should really be long time coming, there should be proper lead-in to it, there are so many action movies etc, but only one GOT.
People will ALWAYS find something to complain about.
The WORK that goes into these things! It's still one of the best shows to ever grace TV season 8 notwithstanding.
GyDaBi well you get the honour of introducing it to your kids so that they pass it down generations
also they should tell a tale to their grandchildren about them killing jon snow
GyDaBi the greatest show goes to The Wire.
GyDaBi breaking bad is the greatest show in television history.
Wait a minute... So these guys worked on Breaking Bad too? Wow. They must be really proud.
Acting looks really fun. It's too bad I'll never get the chance to experience it. On a side note, playing the Night King seems badass.
I like that the effects artists can create amazing things but have the guts to hide them in mist or smoke as well. It really gives them a realism that is missing in most CG.
You gotta appreciate all the hard work they put into this gem of a show
"Can I maybe just have like a screen? With clouds?"
2:20 That little 'ding' while Tormund poses ha
This gives me way more appreciation for the show. The sheer scale and detail they put into every scene is amazing
okay but this is amazing. Just imagine all the work and planning hbo has done. Hands down
