If my mother came to me and apologized for her betrayals throughout my life, I wouldn't trust her. As much as I've wanted a mother who cares, this won't ever happen and any attempt on her part would be another way for her to manipulate and betray. Parents, so badly need IFS and need to do THEIR work.

At 43, my mother asked me to let her love me... really!?!?!

It’s exhausting having emotionally immature parents. It means you never get to give them any feedback along the way. Anything you tell them that you need feels like an “attack” on them and they eventually condition you to not share any of your problems or struggles. Not only can you not share the bad feelings “fear, anger, sadness, shame” if you do, you will get punished for it. It’s a terrible betrayal.

OMG This does not sounds true. It is simply dissociation.

It seems you didn't quite understand it. Sure, Dr. Becky's voice sounds sort of weird in that shrill excited superspeed - and for me as non-American hardly understandable wordrush, IFS itself is a very grounded concept and process with a sound foundation and based on immense experience by now. There are other interviews on Sounds True which make that clearer. Reading Dr. Schwartz' books also helps to get a more profound impression.
