I disabled the 120Hz refresh rate on my Note 20 Ultra. I had it on for around 2 days and didn't really see any big difference. I'd rather have at least extra 30mins of battery life and the phone feels fast and super smooth anyway. Now, I'm back to my Note 9 which is still smooth enough for me and still the king.
I'll have to wait for 3 years or so before upgrading from my Note 10 Plus because of the Ultra having little improvements and upgrades. Although I'm digging the Ultra's Bronze color.
Thanks JR, I missed the Note 10+ experience altogether, jumping from Note9 to S20Ultra & then to Note20Ultra. But, like you & the 10, I still find myself going back to the 9 when it's close by. Keep your reviews coming - luv 'em 😉
I switched from Note 8 to Note 10 Plus after watching the Note 20 Ultra event and hearing the first impressions. The Note 10 Plus is actually better than the Note 20 Ultra: longer battery life (Exynos), better cameras (2x zoom and higher res ultra wide + dual aperture is better for my use), TOF sensor for 3D printing, lighter, smaller camera bump, more Storage and RAM (the Note 20 Ultra comes with 8GB only in my region) and half price convinced me quickly. Now that I received the same software (One UI 2.5 including wireless Dex, Pro video mode and same Notes app) and a promise for 2 more years of One UI update (I don't care about Android updates, Samsung beats Google in software), I couldn't be happier with this phone!
When it's battery dies at some point. Just jet an Iphone11 or 12 or the pro ones if your wallet allows ... The note series is not what it was used to be anymore. Imo its better to buy a phone from industry leader than the ones that copy everything from them and you'll get better software support.in your case it's the least important thing cos you're rocking lineage on a ancient hardware so i think IT doesn't matter what you buy youll flash a custom firmware..i may be wrong tho
Been using my Note 10 Plus for 2 years and the performace still top notch. Esp in this One UI 4.0 on Android 12. I've never seen an Android phone that still performing this magnificent after 2 years. No lagging, no stattered, battery still good, and the camera still top of the game.
You're the first tech reviewer I've seen admit that once you use 90+ htz (in the Ultras case 120 htz) it's very hard to go backwards. I've tried to go back to 60 htz and I couldn't do it. Note 20 Ultra is now my daily driver.
I've been into OnePlus 7 Pro to 11 Pro Max to Pixel 4 XL to Huawei P4 Pro to finally my phone now, Note 10 Plus. I'm a phone enthusiast thats why I keep on changing phones. Yes it is hard to go back to 60 Hz, but only on the first days or week. You'll get used to it again soon. The early days of going back to 60 Hz is tough, but once your eyes are adjusted, it's all good.
I replaced my note 10 plus with the note 20 ultra and have regrets 😢 Waste of money! The battery is terrible, I don't care for 120hz display and the camera although good still not worth the extra money and in the UK I got the exynos chip 😭
I feel you. The last exynos that was better than a SD was from 2014's Note 4 Exynos 5433. It was faster in cpu intensive tasks than SD805. But still SD805 had better GPU. The only time Exynos had a win was against a botched SD810 due to it's poor thermals.
They are doing a great job of giving everyone a chance to buy one of their phones. They have many phones at all different price points. If they only made these flagship phones, then they wouldn't be able to start other people on their brand, because not everyone can start out affording one of these phones.
Great comparison review! Stepped up from Note 5 to Note 20 Ultra. Looked at previous Note models, but prices still too high for aging technology and expiring support. I made logical choice - no regrets. Fantastic! Thank you!
I just ordered a Galaxy note 10 plus from back market, It came in yesterday. I haven't touched my iPhone 12 pro max since. I can't believe what I have been missing...
@@LexaGamerSrb Both Snapdragon and Exynos chips can support it, but Samsung's bridge between the chip and the display can't support the bandwidth needed for QHD 120. OnePlus used something like a dual bridge so the device could support the extra bandwidth needed for QHD 120.

Greetings from Hong Kong. Just got my new Note 10+ yesterday (16-1-2022). It’s hard to find but still available if you dig deep. Apparently, only black and white ones are available. I chose the black one. It’s a 12G ROM 256G RAM, dual sim 4G version, not 5G. But who needs the 5G transmission? It’s US$533.3 (HK$4160). I traded in my 2-yr old A71 at US$179.5 (HK$1400). So, finally paid US$354. For a brand new Note 10+, I think my decision was right. The phone is great. I’ve got the latest software upgraded to One UI v3.1 which is the latest version. I can even link it to my PC wirelessly with Samsung Dex. That is great as well. In fact, if not because of the need to work under the windows environment, Note 10+ can replace a PC if hooked wirelessly to a monintor and then with mouse and Keyboard. The S-Pen is great and it’s the main reason I am buying the note series. Note 20 Ultra does not worth the price. A mere 128G for the 20 ultra compared to 256G is no brainer not-to-choose decision, even though the battery is 4500mh vs 4300. Probably, will only need to upgrade 2-3 years later.
I find that the s series is a test of new features and the note comes in with everything refined. I can say that about the s8 and note 8. And s10 and note 10.
I've owned every Note since the Note 3. Currently own a Note 10 Plus and Note 20 Ultra. Both are unlocked and direct from Samsung. The Note 10 Plus us beautiful, no doubt. However, the N20 Ultra is another level of beauty. I have the bronze color with matt finish. Main reason I purchased the phone was for the added camera hardware and louder speakers. I purposely keep my phone locked to LTE/LTE + and at 1440 QHD. I have found that this combination allows for battery life comparable to the my Note 10 Plus. Finally, I got this phone for a steal. $750 out the door, unlocked and with $200 in store credit while trading in my old Note 9. Cheers 🍻
DDR 4x in note 10 plus and with lower 60 Refresh rate i think they have the same battery life yet note 20 ultra is faster. Note 20 ultra could take advantage using with 60 hz but imagine paying that much money for high refresh rate and end up using 60 hz to get long bettery life ( not to mention you cant switch WQHD when you are using 60 hz)
@@zawlinnaing9906 60Hz is better on a phone than 120Hz unless you game alot. Videos are normaly 24, 30 or 60fps anyway so the Note 20 Ultra will only run 30Hz when watching a 30Hz video since it has variable refreshrate UP TO 120Hz. And that is better than beeing locked to 120Hz all the time like the S20 Ultra. What do you mean you can't switch to WQHD when using 60Hz? The is when you CAN switch to WQHD.. Only in 120Hz mode you can'æt use that.
One of the great reviews that influenced my buying decision to go for the Note 10 plus and I like to thank Jamie for the exact nuances of both these phones.. SUBSCRIBED 🙏
My favorite was the Note9. I didn't see the benefit of upgrading from the N9 to the N10+. I waited for the Note 20 Ultra with 5G very happy with the upgrade. A few minor features I'm disappointed with the N20 U. No charging or notification light and no heart rate senor on the rear of the camera.
The camera bump won’t bother you once you put a case on it, taken pictures with the ultra from regular to night mode is just a wow!! 120hz is very smooth, I don’t use it much. Battery 🔋 life is great also
@@Wyoboy7220 i had the note 8 which was wonderful then got the s9+ (due to some issues). The s9+ was awful but I stuck it out until now, jist traded it in for the note 20 ultra which is arriving in the mail today. Super excited
I just made the switch from the note 10 plus to the note 20 ultra. Basically I like the 5g option, the 120hz screen, and the better camera. I wasn't feeling the loss of internal storage. I had the s20 ultra before and it was so big, it was uncomfortable (thats what she said). I thought the note 20 ultra would also be awkward to hold, but surprisingly it's almost as comfortable as the note 10 plus. I really like the screen size and screen to body ratio on the ultra, it seems to have more screen, smaller bezels and smaller camera cut out, than the 10 plus. The battery life also seems to last pretty long. I was afraid it would be a noticeable difference in battery life between the two, but I cannot see a substantial difference. The camera is definitely better on the ultra. Overall I thought I'd regret making the switch, but I don't. This is an amazing phone.
Still rocking the Note10+. One UI 2.5 brought over almost everything to it that it really makes it that much harder to upgrade. Plus Samsung will now provide 3 years of upgrades for it as well.
Me 4, from a Note 8 to a Note 20 Ultra 512GB because 128gb was not going to be enough for me, and I've had bad experiences with using micro sd cards for the camera in the past (it got corrupted and all pictures and data disappeared from it). I especially like the cameras on the ultra, especially the periscope 5x zoom lens. Battery life is sufficient, seems to be improving since I got it 6 weeks ago.
@@beerusthedestroyer1579 lol. They jump to 20 because it's year???? You're right 2020, so the consumers will not be confused on it's naming anymore. So next year will be s21 and note 21 and the rumor has it that it will be release the same time.
I downgraded back to Note 9 from S20 Plus. Here's the problem with the entire S20 line. The battery life with 120hz and 5G cuts it down to about 1/2 the day with my usage. 5G is very handy when you upgrade and download stuff. Insanely fast. The other issue I have is the on-screen finger print sensor just blows. The front screen is not the quickest way to unlock the phone. My Note 9 can be unlocked just pulling out of my pocket. I trained the fingerprint sensor so many times on the S20 and its still slow. The phone also does get hotter. The camera on the S20 is really good, I can't say enough about it. But the Note 9 just so much easier to use with the back fingerprint sensor and the size is just right. I simply hate notch and punch hole camera.
_Honestly, the new phone isn't always good, maybe they just added some new software and features. That's why I shouldn't have to upgrade, Note10 + is still the best for me_ 👍👍👍
I traded my ever so awesome Note 10 + plus for the Note 20 Ultra exactly for the same reasons that you have given. The camera and the 120hz screen on the Note 20 Ultra are two very strong reasons for opting the Note 20 Ultra. Well said
Great video. Ha! Watching this vid on 512 gb Note 10Plus 5G with a SanDisc Ultra 1tb expendable memory card all protected by Supcase Unicorn Beetle Pro case. I got my Note 10 + for $600 on black Friday clearance! The camera is more than good enough for a phone. If I want a real photo I'll use my Canon Eos, not a phone. So for 800$ including memory card nothing.. beats the Note 10 plus sorry 120hz is nice but it's not an "ooooh wow I'm so amazed at the difference" moment to ever consider upgrading. Lol so you can scroll through your web pages a couple nanoseconds faster. I'm keeping this until there's a real significant improvement in the tech.
Hey great review. Keeping it real. Now let me ask you, would you upgrade your Note 10+ for the Z Fold 3? I have the Note 10+, but I have come to the conclusion that on the Z Fold 3 is missing a lot. Namely, no Stylus included, no Mirco XD Card Slot, no Adapter, and no headphones. I am just curious. Would you buy the Galaxy Z Fold 3?

so I pre ordered my note 20 ultra I received it a week and been playing with it. honestly I'm returning it to Samsung I'm keeping my Note 10+ one because battery life is better two because it's to damn expensive three the cameras when taking pictures don't have enough detailed picture as for the note 10+ it takes better beautiful pictures 💕. I rather wait for next year's Note series instead. using 120hertz display kills the battery quick . The note 10+ is a killer phone than the ultra. I disagree it's not a better buy when you zoom it takes good pictures on the ultra but if you compare the pictures between both phones note 10+ kills it. the lighting on the ultra is good yes I agree and auto focus is great. but it's a hard decision note 20 Ultra is good and bad in many different ways. note 10+ is well balanced.

Sticking with the 10+ for now, luv this device!!!
Note 20 ultra definitely a boss but when it comes to a great valuable package note 10+ wins👍👍👍
I agree 👍
I had the note 8 to the ultra both the great. Wasn't much need to upgrade..... still have the 8 just incase. I am enjoying the ultra 😎
Note 10 Plus is absolutely amazing and it's even more beautiful!
Still rock a note 2 with lineage for work email and TH-cam videos 💪
When it's battery dies at some point. Just jet an Iphone11 or 12 or the pro ones if your wallet allows ... The note series is not what it was used to be anymore. Imo its better to buy a phone from industry leader than the ones that copy everything from them and you'll get better software support.in your case it's the least important thing cos you're rocking lineage on a ancient hardware so i think IT doesn't matter what you buy youll flash a custom firmware..i may be wrong tho
Beerus The Destroyer yeah it’s just a second phone for work, my personal phones have always been iPhones. Mainly due to updates 👍
Love my 3 months old Note 10 plus, I will keep it for at least 2 years I hope. And the next one will be a Note too definitely.

I agree, the first phone to spoil me with it was the oneplus 7 pro.
Can't really tell the difference
I replaced my note 10 plus with the note 20 ultra and have regrets 😢
Waste of money!
I followed you and bought the Note 20 ultra 5g 512gb, and returned it, and bought a Note 10+,and saved nearly half my money 💰💰💰

Samsung needs to stop making 2 different versions of the note phone.. i mean the s20 note is not better than the s20 plus 🤷...
They need to stop making so many phone models period and maybe they could do the software updates like Apple
You are talking about two different phones. One is a ToL phone for everyone to have, but the Note is more of a production tool.
Fantastic! Thank you!

YOU FORGOT TO SAY WITH THE 120 HERTZ YOU NEED TO LOWER THE RESOLUTION TO USE IT!
If the ultra has the best display money can buy, why can't it do QHD at 120hz like the OnePlus 8 pro?
Exynos can't do it.
@@theyoutuber273 the snapdragon can't do it either
The both can do its just that they won't do it until s21.

My Note9 512 is the perfect Note ever :)

Cheers 🍻
Is the color more of a bronze 9r pink, just curious as im waiting for mine in the mail.
The note 20 Ultra uses DDR5 ram, the note 10+ uses DDR4X
DDR5 is 50% faster and 30% more power efficient
DDR 4x in note 10 plus and with lower 60 Refresh rate i think they have the same battery life yet note 20 ultra is faster.
Note 20 ultra could take advantage using with 60 hz but imagine paying that much money for high refresh rate and end up using 60 hz to get long bettery life ( not to mention you cant switch WQHD when you are using 60 hz)
I think note 10+ snapdragon is almost as fast as Exynos Note20 ultra
No point in having a faster ram there.
Nope.. Exynos variant of Note 20 Ultra bearly beats the Exynos Note 10+

The camera bump won’t bother you once you put a case on it, taken pictures with the ultra from regular to night mode is just a wow!! 120hz is very smooth, I don’t use it much. Battery 🔋 life is great also
