I'd love to see a house that's like, intentionally expensive, but not necessarily just the single most expensive objects of each category. Like maybe in the top 5 or something!
Agreed. It's about making an intentionally expensive house. Not just the most expensive item possible. I like build challenges where there's a general idea but not extreme restrictions. Like I still want the place to look good in the end. So, much like you said, I'd say like not even just top 5 but *try* to stick to the more expensive things.
Inside of Simsie, there are two wolves competing to be fed. The first wolf wants to build something nice, like a blue suburban (Order). The other wolf wants her to add things like a cowplant and a piranha pond (Chaos). I think hanging the picture of Vlad in the bathroom is when I knew the second wolf was getting fed today.
😂 Vlad's tacky and eccentric little girl, who moved out on her own for the first time! You know, the one he never talks about even tho she's his spoiled little princess... Omg I love this... 🤣😭🤣
I was just rewatching the classic Sims 3 generations and I gotta say, this is a house Gertrude would live in. The second you popped in those hot pink couches. Gertiecore.
I think this challenge would be so much better is the items where done in smaller categories. Like most expensive wood floor or single door as opposed to just most expensive floor and door. Like if you wanted a small window just use the most expensive of the size you want, might be a bit less stressful too 😅
yeah i was confused why she said that'd be cheating. you're still using the most expencive in a single catagory, just in a smaller one. i think it would be more fun, too
Nooo!! I wanted it on the gallery lol. It’s so bad but so good! Like the floor plan you had for it. Would’ve been cool to see you use the same layout and some of the expensive stuff but more wiggle room to make things match better. 😂❤ what a ride!! Loved it.
Proud of Kayla for sticking with the windows and doors and resisting the urge to change it because as much as some of us complain, we wouldn’t be too happy about these circumstances either 😭😭💀
This kinda feels like when you watch those insanely expensive house tours on architectural digest where it's pretty obvious they prioritized how expensive the furniture was over the actual aesthetics. But I loved this video, I'd love to see this but reversed. Like a giant mansion but only furnished with the cheapest items. Great work!!
I used the Get Famous furniture for your last shell challenge, but that's because I turned the shell into a Chateau for Judith Ward, and I decided to limit myself only to the Base Game and Get Famous. But otherwise, as you said, I rarely use any of that stuff. Your build made me think of those eccentric billionaire houses you see that use $20,000 marble for their bathroom counters. Could you try Plumbella's random build generator challenge?! It could be fun to see what you would get!
I’d be interested to you do this challenge again, but with more specific categories. So instead of most expensive floor, most expensive tile for the bathrooms and most expensive wood floor for the living room and so on.
Love this! The only change I would have made would be most expensive by type for the wallpaper/flooring. So you could of had some variety. So like, most expensive siding or stone out side, most expensive tile in the bathroom, most expensive tile floor in the kitchen, most expensive wood in the livingroom etc you get the idea haha
While seeing this challenge happen and you commented about the three styles. I'd love to see what you'd do for each style but most expensive instead. So you can get cohesion so long as it is the most expensive item for those styles. Maybe that would be more fun? I personally like the eyebleed as someone who doesn't own these packs and doesn't see these items as often. lol
I actually liked this house a lot. There were some parts that looked a bit off, but overall this industrial, gaudy, futuristic look was really interesting. It's too bad the wall texture looked a bit blurry. Would love to see another episode of this; same style but more variety in items.
I used to caregive for a very wealthy woman and I’m telling you, this was the theme of her bathroom, it was so crazy, all black tile, mirrors everywhere, gold accents it was wild
Would be fun to revisit this shell and use the cheapest (or close to it) stuff and see how pretty you can get it while keeping actual starter homes in mind
7:12 I know this isn’t my place but it really hurts me when Snap is being needy and you don’t pet her tho I know that you know best and I promise I’m not judging but please just give us some Snap petting footage while she’s needy🥲🥺 Love you and your videos and SNAP😌❤️✨
Was actually nice to see a different style of build for once considering how similar so many of her other builds tend to be. (And I say this as someone who uses a lot of her builds in my games to populate Newcrest. They’re nice builds but a lot are similar, which works for one a singular neighborhood.)
Can you do a challenge where you have to roll each room between the most expensive items and the cheapest? Like kitchen you roll to use the cheapest things, and the living room you roll for the most expensive things, etc. etc.
I still think you need to do Snap Chooses My Build. Also she's a sweetie. It looks like she noticed you're stressed about the build and wanted to make you feel better.
You should do a video where you randomly generate how many rooms you have and the base should probably be five because five means you can have a room for all the nisecitys and then the top number can be whatever or you could have a base number of like one if you want to make it harder
I think it would be fun to do a challenge where you can't use any of the black or white swatches, just the colorful ones like how it was when the sims 4 just came out 😂
I think a neat way to do this challenge to give you more variety would be to allow yourself to work down item by item. Like in a gallery wall for example. You'd start with the most expensive painting, you can use it however many times throughout the house, but you want SOME variety, so you can go to the SECOND most expensive, then the THIRD, and so on. Probably for like the first 5 options? You can't just grab whichever from the 5 though. If you want the 5th most expensive bed? You gotta use ALL the first 4 expensive beds. This would solve the issue with the decor options because you'd get variety but also limitations so you'd have some sort of challenge with that part
You should do a build using items only once including windows doors cabinets lights night stands rugs fences wallpaper. For the wallpaper you can only use it on one wall of the house and the next wall has to be different
My generational mansion (I'm on gen4 btw) costs around 1,800,000$ 😅 I use a lot of TheJim07 and Felixandre's cc decorations and they are REALLY expensive! For instance I used Felix's cc stone fences around the entire 64x64 lot and they cost around 700 a-piece (not to mention the fenceposts and fencepost toppers which are as expensive). Also some of Jim's statues cost around 10,000 which is insane.
You feel destiny as you press your demeaning human paw upon thy luscious cloth of god That is the description I had in mind as I looked at the price tag of those towels!!! 💀
You should do one million simoleon home. It would have to be a pretty big lot. 😂 I don’t think the giant castle with all the knights was even that much 😂
With the random scientist career items, I think the inhabitant of this house is an alien who has some way of having infinite funds and absolutely no concept of money or style 😂 Definitely agree with some of the other comments, I'd love to see you build an actual realistic / intentional expensive house. Having the scale of the building match the style, and keeping a consistent style throughout, etc.
I actually really like how this turned out! It kind of gives off early 2010s neon resurgence (w all the clashing animal print and gaudy gold & glitter) + maximalism? Reminds me of the design trends when I was in elementary school lmao
I think a good challenge idea would be having to make a house that costs at least 500k to 1 million simoleons. It is up to you what items you pick, whether they are expensive or cheap, but the house has to cost at least that much.
You could try a build where you have to include the most expensive item, and generally go for expensive options, but still try to make it pretty and cohesive. Basically adding the use of other items too
i feel like in this challenge it's fair to really narrow down what you mean by 'type' of something. like instead of the most expensive door, do most expensive exterior door, most expensive single door, most expensive glass door, etc. that way both the challenge is maybe a little more fun to do and the house won't end up looking so repetitive at the end and having the same item over and over
Can’t be the only one who played like this. When I first started playing The Sims 4, I’d go straight for the ‘motherlode’ cheat and fill my boxy house on a 64x64 lot with the most expensive furniture, leaving tons of empty space. Later on, I kept using the priciest stuff, but only because it filled my Sims’ needs faster. I never even looked at the prices, so watching this video really shocked me when I saw how expensive everything actually is.
i feel like redoing this with the 'most expensive in certain categories' like you mention as 'cheating' at one point would actually be really cool, since it would be a similar challenge but also allow for more design cohesiveness that may make it feel more intentional
It's fun for a 1 time challenge... but maybe "The most expensive with a cohesive theme." is harder than you might think but it can be done several ways and you could end up with something potentially usuable.
You could try this again but do the most expensive type of item in a category, like flooring ones (carpet, stone, etc). Would give more variety and oddity to the looks.
Honestly, I think the house looks really nice! I'd be interested to see what you'd do if you made one with all the seemingly expensive furniture. Like extravagant is the whole point. The throne, the couches, the bed etc. Full marble. LOL
I know this is going deep but that wallpaper totally brought me back to the Sims 1, Makin' Magic, at the shop with Vicki Vampiress, where you could buy a dragon egg. Remember dragons? They came in different colors which all had different traits and if you didn't care for them correctly, they would set your house on fire. I miss Burny!
I remember her doing this bedote and she added some diversity to the house by allowing herself to use the next most expensive item rather than sticking with just the top tier items. Also, some of the swatches for flooring or walls vary in price point. Not the item, the swatch it comes in
That could've been a fantastic renovation challenge by the end, I wish you put it on the gallery 😆 You should do it again, but base game only. See how it turns out with no packs or kits
i like simsie's chaotic vibe but sometimes, for some videos, i really wish she would twist these rules a little... like, i love the idea for the video but i would love to see a most expensive fine-looking house. like you dont have to grab the most expensive out of EVERYTHING, just the things that make sense like the toilet or the bed but you can use windows that match the style you're going for and doors that don't have a rope in front of it. also, using nice swatches 😅
I would love to see you make a maximalist build. You seem to try to be more simplistic with your builds, and this could be a good way to use the get famous stuff with out it looking silly while trying a new style.
As someone who's favorite colors have been pink and black her whole life, I lowkey loved this house and was sad to see it get bulldozed. Great video though!
It's funny because this is still better than any of the Get Famous EA builds - for starters, it is functional. And the floorplan makes sense. Sometimes, the chaos is fun
instead of doing "the most expensive wallpaper" i would do the most expensive one by category. like you have siding and brick that are meant to go outside, so pick the most expensive one there. but you'd probably still end up having the marble inside
How about doing a tuned down version of this challenge: Build a house using only expensive stuff, but it doesn't have to be the MOST expensive - just on the very expensive side.
I'd love to see you redo this with less forced limitations on yourself. Mainly like allowing to use items that go a little better together. Maybe giving yourself like the top 5 most expensive items to use, and having a little more style choices. Making is as expensive as possible while still looking really pretty. Overall this looks pretty good considering what you had to work with! I wouldn't have been able to follow my own rules when stuff started looking non matchy
I haven't used a ton of these, mostly because I don't have the packs you do, but I've DEFINITELY used that bathtub. It shows up a lot because of the mansion baron aspiration, honestly.
