Thanks for talking about this, but I still have 0 sympathy for any of these women, they are all the same just fake, fake, fake and more fake. I'm so tired of living in this world where people can do whatever they want and then cry boohoo when it backfires on them. None of these girls are natural, they are souless npc clones of each other. When are people going to EVER be held responsible for their own grown a s ss decisions. All of these women's parents failed them. This is what happens when you let KIDS little girls grow up watching fake women, then they want to be them and their goes their lives.

The irony is few lawyers would bother with a lawsuit. The pretend dental expert has no insurance, probably no assets, no license which could be revoked...their business could be shut down, but they would just move to the next city and open up again. I'm a nail tech and what happened was we learned that acrylic (monomer/polymer or liquid/powder) was invented by Dentists.....so shady nail techs have offered to fill cavities or fix imperfections with their electric files and acrylic for nails. It's super fuckec up
If yall want cheap dental work, You would probably have to go to a Dental school. They do some things at a discount and They can actually be trusted with your teeth. They can't do everything but it's safer. Please don't let these crazy folk work on your teeth!😭
That’s how I was able to afford a dental implant when I needed one! Because of the complexity of my issue, my case was heavily monitored by the dental faculty to be sure the student didn’t make any mistakes. I definitely recommend to someone who needs affordable dentistry!
the big college/university in my city offers getting cavities filled and other smaller things through their dental training program but u have to go for soooo many hours for the students to finish their work and be trained. i looked into it and it was like minimum 8 visits at 3 hours a visit and u might not even get seen for the first couple. if youre desperate its definitely an option though

That release is not going to protect them from anything 😂 What they are signing is an indemnification or “hold harmless” agreement. It’s the kind of thing you sign at, like, a trampoline park. It says “by signing this, you agree not to sue us if Timmy’s backflip goes horribly wrong.” Again, assuming this isn’t already a crime, they had better have “I am not a medical professional” in red 64 point type, because that contract is also void if you misrepresent yourself. That’s what the cool kids call “doing a fraud.”
I came here to point out this exact fact. An NDA is null an void if it’s used in an attempt to hide illegal activity. I’m not an attorney, but completed several semesters of law school before I decided to get a masters degree instead. I find that uniformed people throw around the threat of an NDA’s existence to get away with committing all kinds of treacherous activity, but the minute said activities become illegal, that NDA is no longer valid. I also find that NDAs usually do very little except existing as a potential threat of a future civil penalty if the signee does disclose information. This only works if the person enforcing the NDA has enough disposable income and a retained attorney to sue someone. Furthermore, NDAs have an expiration date, so eventually you can spill the beans without the threat of a civil suit. Basically, if someone is rich or powerful enough to enforce a breached NDA by dragging you through court for years, it’s enough to keep most signees quiet. I do know people who have worked closely with extremely wealthy people who have signed them. I also have a friend who dated a celebrity and signed one. That’s where I’ve seen NDAs used often is for personal relationships where the person who has the document drafted doesn’t want to have someone who knows all their personal information and dirty secrets share with the media. This is why you sometimes don’t hear about the “elite” behaving badly until many years later: the whistleblower signed an NDA and was waiting out the contact’s expiration date in order to avoid being sued. I’m also guilty of commenting on videos like a third of the way through and then realizing my complaint was covered. 😆 And yes, those glasses were amazing. I could barely focus on what she was talking about because of how beautiful she was, punctuated by her chic choice of eyewear. ✨

I worked almost 10 years as a dental lab tech. Even with what I learned over the years I would never try working in someone’s mouth. That’s what dentists are for. This is very scary. I hope all these ppl get shut down!!!

I just realized this is the inevitable result of "fast fashion" culture. If I can get "the same dress" on SHEIN for $12, why can't I also get skincare and plastic surgery and dental work? People really think stuff is expensive for no reason and the cheap option is "just as good".
And I think the biggest issue is that most things are just a risk game. Like a lot of people do get good/okay results with unlicensed estheticians which is how they stay in business. But when it goes wrong it can go horribly wrong, and often it could have been prevented by proper practice. Or like the veneers, usually you don't find out something is wrong until much later. So for some people, I guess paying less makes it worth the risk, but that's only if they're on the good side of that risk. Of course if they're the one to suffer a complication, they will tell you it wasn't worth it. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
People keep acting like this is the option because poor people can’t afford dental work. It’s not! It’s people who won’t to get everything for a cheap price and look like everybody on social media. The “victims” of the veneer techs, didn’t seem like they were poor or hurting for money.
@joygirl09 I was beginning to think I was the only sane person who realized this has nothing to do with dental health. If these people cared about their teeth, they would go to these techs to fix their cavities. Then, the cost of dental work would apply.
i work at at a ups store and amazon free shipping has given people unrealistic expectations on what shipping and packaging actually costs....and how long it takes.
I still can't get over the fact that what that one woman was talking about was a Liability Waiver, but literally did not know the words liability or waiver. She just kept saying, "the paper". It made me lose my mind. When I worked at an escape room we had everyone sign a waver in case they like, tripped or something. We knew what a fucking waiver is.

And an escape room can still get in trouble for not being up to code if something happens to the people in it. A few years ago there was a fire in one in Poland, which led to five girls dying. Later the fire department checked existing escape rooms and closed more than a hundred of them because of different issues. NOW IMAGINE THAT SOMEONE IS MESSING WITH YOUR TEETH.
My moms boyfriend died from an infected tooth that only needed a root canal to fix. The infection went to his brain and he lapsed into a coma and passed away. He was a wonderful man but it shows how important oral health is for our survival.

People really out here underestimating bacteria and how quickly they can disfigure you. A very common example is a dead tooth, which is a major problem that MUST be treated with a root canal because without it, you can literally lose your teeth, a part (or the entire) jaw, or your life due to the infection. It is important to get regular dental checkups because even if you brush your teeth religiously, small problems snowball into life-ending problems. Teeth are not a decoration, they are living tissues of your body. They are not nails, they do not "grow back".
After a very long time of not going to the dentist for a variety of reasons, I recently went to one. I had a single cavity, in the back of one of my back teeth...think the part under the back flap of your gum. So it was only found by the x-rays, which are in and of themselves a bit cryptic to look at unless...you know what you're looking for lol. And it was very, very close to the nerve in my tooth, so I was told there was no way to tell if I needed a root canal or could get away with a cavity filling until he actually drilled in. Thankfully was able to just do the filling but...omfg imagine if I went to one of these veneer techs. I'd have been given the all clear I'm sure, and then what?
I have had perfect white teeth all my life. Only a few cavities. I really took care of my teeth. I have a few autoimmune diseases so I was devastated when I had over a dozen cavities. In most instances, you would never be able to tell. Yes, go to the dentist.

Same. I know nail techs learned that acrylic polymer/monomer was created by dentists so they think they're being clever since we have an e-file and hard acrylic. It's a damn shame 😔 any nail tech caught performing dentistry should have their nail license revoked
My stepdad recently got veneers. It was a WHOLE process over the course of a month or so. He got teeth pulled out, filed down, a fake set put in, and then about a month or two later, he returned to get the real set put in. Not to mention the healing, having to eat soft foods for a while, and minor swelling.. I can't imagine going to someone who is NOT licensed for something so invasive and serious. It took him a while to heal and that was without any issues too 😭😭😭
To be fair there are also types of veneers that go over your existing teeth and can eventually possibly be removed, those are much less invasive and painful than the full ones where they completely file down your teeth
@@maddieb.4282 generally all veneers require filing down the tooth at least a little. If you don’t file the tooth down the veneer will make it thicker and throw off your bite You might be thinking of temporaries
Girl, my best friend is a dentist, a real one, and college alone was five years, and the amount of stuff they need to learn is unfathomable, those classes start with over 150 students and over half drop out before the first year ends. There is so much ground to cover, they learn about the entire freaking body, learn about the head and neck in excruciating detail and that’s still not all of it, and if they want to do something really specific they usually need to get specialized in it after college. Two days? They’re going to kill someone for sure, that shit is unethical and unsafe. At our school they started work in the clinic on the second semester, so that’s four and a half years of supervised experience before even graduating, and they did everything from cleaning to veneers, fillings, crowns, whitening, extractions, from babies to the elderly, and they get a lot of experience but 9 out of 10 still get more courses and postgrads, masters, etc afterwards because they want to become specialized in a particular area and provide a specific service, such as cosmetic dentistry, which includes veneers. Two days or even a couple of weeks is nowhere near enough to learn all they need to know to provide a service like that.
For real. I went to the dentist to check a bad cavity and she checked and said the nerve was dead and my tooth needed a root canal ASAP or I'd lose it. I said I hadn't felt any pain so I didn't think it was that bad. She proceeded to explain how if I'd had an unrelated infection in any other part of my body and had taken antibiotics it was possible they'd also treated and slowed down any infection in my tooth, like a whole class on how medication can affect teeth. I was like "I thought you only treated teeth?"
This is exactly what I was thinking my sister is a vet with a specialty in large animal dentistry. She went to school for around 12 years in total including her BA, veterinary school, residency, and then she decided to go for a specialty. Her student loan debt is insane, but she makes incredible money. That’s not counting all the anatomy text books that cost around $1000 each. When I heard two days worth of training to be screwing around in someone’s mouth, I about lost my mind. It’s just crazy to me that people buy into the idea that this is safe, when even VETERINARY dentists have to do a decade of post-secondary education to do dental work on animals. Not that you should be playing with an animal’s health unlicensed either, but these are people. Be so serious that you think you can take a two day training to learn how to do dental procedures. 😳 I spent 6-8 weeks doing my first yoga training, and have continued to learn over the past 15 years. That’s not counting my classical ballet training and anatomy classes, because you are touching people’s bodies. I was so glad to hear the dentist mention malpractice insurance, because I carry wellness professional insurance in case someone sues me, and I’m not potentially causing infections, but people can get injured. Anyone who works in health/wellness/fitness and is worth their salt carries either personal or business liability insurance and unless you want a lawsuit, you have people sign liability waivers. Every gym and public venue where you could potentially get hurt doing an activity has clientele sign a liability waiver agreeing to said activity. It won’t prevent a lawsuit, but it is documentation of that individual’s informed consent to said activity and the potential dangers. I’m always surprised how many people don’t read what they sign their name to. Any business that isn’t having you sign a liability waiver for something that could potentially cause physical harm is a huge red flag. Mind you, the lady in the video mentioned a liability waiver, but didn’t even know what it was called. “The paper.” Ma’am… And someone can still sue you if they sign one, but it absolutely reduces your culpability. Having insurance will cover you ass if someone gets hurt and decides to sue anyway. I’ve never been worried about being sued because I know what I’m doing, but any serious professional covers their ass anyway. And many professions require you to carry insurance to practice. These people are merely fly-by-night charlatans.
And that’s why dental is expensive, in my country there’s a long wait for a dentist because of our healthcare system. People saying it should be free don’t realize people don’t like to be working for free, so either they pay or the quality of care goes down, because now the professionals are understaffed.
I just read about a spa in New Mexico that was performing blood facials without sterilizing equipment properly and multiple people were diagnosed with HIV that was tracked down to them, since people’s gums bleed all this makes me think about is people getting life long viruses like HIV from unsterilized equipment.
Bacterial spores cannot be washed away with just soap and water or even a Lysol wipe. Sterilization methods such as an autoclave are needed to kill spores. These people are taking advantage of naïve, uninformed people. They must be stopped.
Something that is really sticking out to me is the echo chamber these courses have caused on tiktok. Everyone telling each other this is a good idea, safe, and legal without checking. Once you put up those news articles it was so obvious how when taken out of that specific context, NOTHING holds up and all the sparkle falls away, it just turns scary.
A few thoughts-- when you said that it is sickening how expensive dental care is, I agree. HOWEVER.. I do not think that means dentists/orthodontists etc are "overcharging". I believe this stems from our own health insurance thinking dental CARE is a luxury lol. People even pay THOUSANDS of dollars for a tattoo from an artist that is well known and gives QUALITY work.. so lets have the same energy for dentists in the medical field, who did their schooling, got the proper steps and take all necessary precautions.
Without health insurance it could be cheaper but everyone would have to pay out of pocket not use insurance. Reminds me of that pharmacist who said most drugs are cheaper without insurance but once you hand card over or always use insurance card on file they can’t sell it to you for the cheaper rate due to contracts with insurance companies

A few minutes in and memory unlocked! I remember last year this guy went viral because a lady gave him composite veneers and he was upset because they weren’t the color he wanted. He asked for white but she gave him something closer to his natural teeth shade because he’s a smoker and he didn’t have enough money for a full set. The composites became more yellow orange over time and he was embarrassed. I just remember thinking how unethical it was to take his money knowing he needed to see an actual dentist. Not only did he have less money for actual treatment, but now he needs MORE money to undue what she did and still address his dental issues.
Dentist here. If veneers aren't shaped with a thorough understanding of and consideration for occlusion ("the bite"), there is a high likelihood of developing traumatic occlusion, meaning the bite forces are heavier on the teeth than the surrounding bone and ligament can withstand, resulting in loss of bone surrounding the tooth (periodontitis) and thereby eventual tooth loss. This is especially likely when material is only added without first subtracting bulk through prepping (shaving down) the tooth. There's a reason we shave the tooth down before putting a veneer on. We're not doing extra surgery with all the additional liability that comes with that just for funsies. It's because if you don't shave the teeth down first, you get traumatic occlusion. Very rarely, people's teeth are small enough and their bite open enough for "no-prep" veneers, but it takes a licensed dentist with thorough understanding of occlusion to make that determination and do that procedure. Fortunately or unfortunately, periodontitis is a slow process over several years, and these patients will likely not know anything is wrong until a decade later when they need all 8 incisors taken out due to severe perio. Additionally, composite requires a bonding layer that is liquid until cured and typically needs to be carefully cleaned out from under the gums at the end of the procedure with a scalpel or scaler, both of which can and will cause infection including HIV transmission if unsterilized (please note that sterilization is not the same thing as disinfection, and true sterilization requires extremely expensive equipment to produce and a thorough knowledge of infection control to maintain). If they are cleaning the bonding out, that's high risk of infection, if they aren't, that's high risk of, again, periodontitis and tooth loss. TLDR: even if all the procedures were done in a sterile environment (they're not), on patients cleared to have no active caries or periodontal disease (they're not), these procedures would still result in tooth loss when done by unlicensed professionals.
“If you can do nails you can do teeth.” The only thing that is comparable is the shape. Kinda. Just because you can file and shape nails, which are made up of keratin, have no nerves, and no blood supply (at least the part that you’re working on) does not mean you can file and shape teeth which have major nerves and blood vessels connected to them.
They are probably just going off the history of dental products originally being used for nails. I think there still is a lot of cross over between the methacrylates used for some dental products and nail supplies. But no, nope, absolutely not. If I’m trying to get upsold at my nail appointment to have veneers done, I’m done 🤣 Pretty sure a nail tech would lose their shit at the thought of a dentist trying to do nails lol.
@@91Vault you can learn, maybe, generously the basics - how to paint within the nailline, do shapes out of acrylic/polygel, etc., MAYBE. but doing nails professionally requires a LOT of practice so that you can do all of those things consistently and also a lot of knowledge so that you are aware of what ingredients you are working with (and why they can be harmful) and what conditions people can come in with. say a nail tech has a client coming in with onycholysis not having any idea why they're experiencing this condition and only being concerned with the aesthetics, so they ask the tech to cover it up. onycholysis is frequently associated with nail gel/acrylic allergy - putting on more of those products will worsen the situation. nail techs need to be aware of that - you can't really learn that kind of client management in a day because it comes with time and seeing a lot of clients. people in nail salons usually undergo weeks if not months of training under supervision to make sure they are conscious of how much attention they need to be putting on the task at hand. not to mention that all of those long lasting professional nail products like gels and acrylics are full of acrylate monomers, which are very small molecules that get into your skin very easily with exposure, and enough acrylate monomer exposure Will cause sensitivity (essentially an allergy), and an unskilled unaware tech can miss So many things that can lead to harm to the client (e.g. gel polish looks and feels fully cured when it's about 50% cured in reality, and undercured gel is full of unreacted monomers that can harm the client during wear or the tech who will be taking that manicure off in a few weeks, since they'll be breathing those shavings in when drilling/filing it off). nail techs are even more likely to develop an allergy themselves, and 2 days is not enough to develop and commit to a harm reduction protocol for that. and, in connection to the videp topic, some acrylate monomers are used in dentistry - in fillings and possibly dental glue. an acrylate sensitivity is forever and will only get worse with more exposure, so it can create problems for you getting dental work done. TL;DR no, you really can't learn to do nails safely and responsibly in 2 days
My dads a dentist, just sent this to him…. Another thing that bothers me is I was one of the first in utah to start doing tooth gems & custom tooth charms in an actual dental office as a licensed esthetician and trained dental assistant. Now I see estheticians on Instagram using Amazon kits and have no way to remove them. You need to use etch, bond, curable veneer cement, and you need to neatly and effectively encase the gem on the sides to ensure lifting, causing most people to swallow them. It’s so scary to watch people with no licenses at all just picking it up and charging people with no experience.
To remove them, especially custom charms, you need a drill and a very specific line up of drill heads for smoothing and polishing, ALSO you need the knowledge of a dental assistant OR have a dentist overseeing and training you to do so in order to protect the enamel of the teeth/ never drill or polish too far
Dental assistant here! Been in the dental world for around 4 years now, and this is just crazy, and I actually have a story from our clinic. I had a patient who came in for an emergency exam, stating that a “veneer” came off. After a limited exam (minus x-rays because the patient declined them) it was determined that the patient had had composite “veneers” placed on their teeth, and the composite was starting to chip off. After a loooooong discussion with the patient, it was agreed that we would remove all the composite from the patient’s teeth in order to prevent any further damage. Other than the fact that the veneers just looked awful, they were also all splined together, which prevented the patient from flossing. There was so much build up on the patients teeth from not being able to clean them properly, and, even without any x-rays, clinical decay was noted on the patient’s teeth. After removing all the composite and doing some slight reshaping of the patient’s enamel, which was needed because the bonding that was used what so thick it was hard to determine what was enamel and what was material, the patient declined further treatment. It was such a bizarre thing to whiteness, not to mention, the entire twin having the doc I was assisting with struggling to remove the material and saying how weird the composite was, saying it was unlike anything he had prepped through before. Was an interesting day for sure. Moral of the story, just go to a dentist if you need anything regarding your teeth treated. (Also, I apologize if this comment is hard to read because of not using any names or the patient’s gender, I get very paranoid about violating hippa guidelines so I like to play it safe when I talk about work lol)

It’s a horrible situation because you have to get the work done before the problem becomes even more expensive or even dangerous. I’m fortunate I was able to catch it due to routine dental visits, and that I qualified for a loan, and I also appreciate you pointing that out ❤

I got into a bad accident when I was in junior high, which knocked out my top front teeth (the “church teeth”). They were still in but badly whacked out of place. I was blessed to have an oral surgeon save my teeth. Like TWENTY YEARS LATER, my body randomly started to reject my own teeth by resorbing the roots. My excellent dentist caught it early and referred me to an uncannily talented endodontist. I still have the teeth about a decade later. Long story short, the body is complicated! Oral health is complicated. If I got dubious veneers in my 20s, I’d probably have lost the teeth and maybe ended up with infected teeth and bone due to degradation under that part of my gums.
Physicians, nurses, dentists, dietitians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other health care professionals… We all have 6+ years of school, have to take board exams to prove we are competent, maintain a license to practice our profession, continue education every year, state boards for overview… and literally state laws for each profession that dictates what we can and cannot do and what we can call ourselves.

This is the direct result of a systemic failure. When people can't earn enough income to afford a skyrocketing cost of living, when continuing education is inaccessible to many, and dental care is inaccessible to many, the scammers thrive. They know many people are struggling and want to bette their lives, and desperate enough to fall for their tricks. These scammers are exploiting groups of people who are already exploited and vulnerable. It's absolutely sickening.
As someone who also suffers from dental anxiety - my therapist provided me with a list of trauma informed dentists in my area! I was able to find a wonderful dentist and am in the process of undoing damage now. It is absolutely a privilege to be able to see a dentist & get restoration work done. However, this is 100000% not the way. You cannot F around with your teeth and dental health. This is so so sad that these folks are getting away with this.

Wow I know I don't know you but I'm insanely proud of you for going to a dentist again!! I've been there and the fear and shame can run so deep and really do a number on you. I'm so happy there are more and more trauma informed dentists popping up. They've helped me so much, I hope everything is going well for you with yours :))
Unfortunately, until dental care is affordable in this country, this will ALWAYS be a thing. You can't get a SINGLE tooth filled for under 400$. Insurance doesn't matter when you are put on a wait list for months and months with no choice to even SCHEDULE. I have state insurance, full coverage, I cant even get an APPOINTMENT. The clinics that accept my insurance are FILLED for literally over a year at a time. Now this is all to say DONT DO THIS. GO TO A PROFESSIONAL.
Literally was $1600 for a root canal out of pocket with no cap put over it (couldn’t afford anything ) and this was with insurance and they messed up so I got an abscess and they won’t fix it unless I pay $800 more out of pocket
@@camern2001talk to a lawyer. If they made a mistake on your teeth, a quick letter from a malpractice attorney should make them give you a follow up “fix it” service for free and it should cost you less than $800. Worth a try
Especially when the public learns that medical costs feel completely arbitrary. When news comes out that companies charge 10x 50x more for medication *just because they can* , of COURSE regular people don't have confidence in quality medical procedures and medication. Why would we?

I'm someone who has gone to the cheapest possible way of getting dental care because Medicaid does 😢not give a crap about my health. I'm going to a dental school it's going to cost me at least 15 grand to have my dental work done. This is the cheapest possible way you can do it and oh my God no one deserves to have dental problems or have their teeth fall out

Same. I’m looking at taking out a $20-$30K dollar loan to cover massive dental work due to years of not being able to afford quality care. Now I need implants, possibly a bridge. Preventative care is so important for good oral health and the American healthcare system is a mess. Especially since insurance companies seem to think dental and vision care is “elective.” Like, you do actually need teeth to eat and correct vision to see. It kills me that most insurance policies cover little to no dental except basic cleanings and extractions. So if you DO finally get good coverage and you’ve neglected your teeth previously due to no or insufficient coverage, you’re in for a serious bill and it’s too late for prevention.
i had something similar happen to me. i really had to buckle down and save to afford quality dental work. i’m so glad a sacrificed for a year to save to have a great experience that has allowed me to be more comfortable with regular dental visits.
@@AllanaRace Same! But I found out having insurance is also not good. Finding a good dentist is the only way to not have issues down the road. We opted to private pay because our dentist didn’t take our insurance. Just found out recently that having insurance increases your chance of having “extra” procedures that are not needed. Dental industry has been long overdue for REGULATIONS.
My auntie just had her teeth done by a dentist in Turkey (or at least they claimed to be dentists) The place had a different name upon arrival. They shaved down her healthy teeth without fixing the gum disease first. They've destroyed her teeth, she can't eat and its now going to cost her a fortune to get them fixed in the UK. If anyone knows how to take legal action against a company in another country please let me know, it would be a great help. I'm very concerned about her. Did you see the girl who claims to be an “ophthalmology tech”? She has this “spa package” thing and requires a 2K deposit that you do NOT get back if you cancel. She was administering anesthesia! 😱 …with some certificate!

They absolutely can be sued by someone! And I’m sure they don’t carry malpractice insurance. If someone gets an infection, or ends up with an injury or damage caused by the tech and is sued, the tech can be financially ruined. I don’t know if these techs are breaking any laws but if so, they could be criminally prosecuted too. The lady talking about how she got a form that her friend uses “for all her things” made me grimace. The people that put these courses on are scamming the techs and the patients. Thinking a “paper” can save you from getting sued if you hurt someone in a fraudulent way or by committing a crime is, like you said, an ALARMING lack of common sense and critical thinking. Even in regular situations like an amusement park where you DO sign a liability waiver, if the business is grossly negligent you can still sue
Not even a regular dentist usually does veneers. It’s an esthetician dentist that’s a high especially in dentist school and dentist has to be broad certified. There are veneers technician but only do the molds of the smile but it’s under a supervision of dentists. In the video you see people working on other people. That’s def not ok. They only do the sizing next to the dentist that does the real work
No such thing as a dental aesthetician. And there’s no board certification for placing veneers. But we do ongoing continuing education throughout our careers, and I for one took a few veneer courses.
Not a prostehtician, but have spent many years as a porcelain tech making full arch implants/ partial implants. We don't even TOUCH the patients but still spend substantial time learning anatomy, esthetics, etc before working on real cases. Not to mention the amount of cases I've worked on for very young patients who now have to dump a huge amount of money into permanent prosthetics due to failed veneer procedures.
Maybe im wrong but I think even dental assistants need a minimum 2-3 years of schooling and field experience before becoming certified. Veneers seem much more complicated than a routine cleaning. I have a lot of respect for those in the dental field. Teeth are something you dont appreciate and think about until theyre gone. And there's a reason one of the most common nightmares across all of humanity is having your teeth fall out. These folks could genuinely kill someone. Tooth diseases are scary scary shit. Youre the first person ive heard discuss this and Im so glad im aware of this scam.
Dental hygienist needs 5 years, my friend is a dental assistant and she got hired with just a CNA (Certified Nyrsing Assistant) license, and was given on the job training. She still has a very strict scope of practice, training, and a different medical certificate with experience. Totally different than this veneer crap
My wife is an RDA, and yes she did about 2-3 years of schooling. However, she has to renew her license I think every year or two years, and sometimes goes in to do re-certification. Even so, she's NOT certified to work on veneers yet either. I told her about this scam and she's literally in disgust hearing about it.
When I did this many years ago, I trained for a year to be an assistant. However dental hygienist training is closer to two yrs for an associates and four years for a bachelors degree. This two day training and then setting up a non-hygienic practice is nuts!😮
Thank goodness they aren't shaving down teeth! But this is still so bad. People are going to get infections in their mouth, blood, bones, oh my. After I got my wisdom teeth out (all four at once; surgical extraction) I got an infection that was pretty minor--until the infection spread to my legs and suddenly I was a serious priority for the dental office. I was prescribed some large pills and eventually it all got better (and the holes in my mouth closed). But it could have been bad, if I didn't have a doctor to go back to. Even without wounds in the mouth, infections of the teeth can lead to bacteria spreading to your bloodstream or into your bones. THAT'S BAD!
As somebody who has had lifelong dental issues and has lost and broke a lot of teeth due to chronic health issues and not been able to have them fixed or pulled for dentures, there is no way in hell I would ever do this. Even as desperate and insecure as I have been in the past, there’s just no way. I really hope that more people see this and educate themselves before going to some “back alley veneer tech”. This is despicable to pray upon people who may be desperate, just to pad your pockets. This infuriates me. Certificates of completion, for anything, mean nothing legally. It’s just something that helps your résumé to show that you have learned something specific. I’ve done a course at an online college for social media marketing. It doesn’t mean I have a degree and it doesn’t mean I am “certified“ to be a professional social media marketer. It just means I did the course.
Ive been a nail tech for 14 years and I can tell you right now I can not and would not EVER try to do anything to anyone’s teeth other than brushing my childs! They are not the same thing ! This is sooooooo bad 😱

Girl, I have amazing insurance, and need to get some work done on my teeth (fixing a chipped tooth that quickly became a root canal) and was quoted $1.5k out of pocket on top of my insurance. There is no way on Beyoncé’s planet that a whole set of vaneers should cost only $3k, these people are insane.
Even dentists mess up veneers, because it’s a specialized skill. It takes additional training/residency on top of the 8 years of required training/ licensing/examinations. Composite veneers are some of the lowest quality veneer style. Composite stains with coffee/tea/smoking, so your veneers will stain very quickly and easily to a lovely brown/black color ❤ (I’m a third year dental student, who has an interest in cosmetic dentistry)
as some who is currently going through a journey of fixing my teeth with braces, these unlicensed people doing teeth on people really makes me so uncomfortable like why is this allowed. I feel so bad for the innocent people who are having bad effects from this.
Isabella, this kind of intrusism in various proffesions has been happening a lot for a while. I think this is going forward because no one is doing anything about it. One of the first proffesions to suffer this phenomenom was mine: im a psychologist. But anyone can be a "coach", "therapist", etc... idk how it goes there because im from a country in Europe where we really regulate this shit in the psychology World, but there...i think the intrusism is brutal. I already heard of intrusism in like hairstyling, makeup artists...but the teeth are a health matter, the same as with mental health proffesionals, and that should be very important.
Same with dieticians vs nutritionists! In the US a dietician has to study for 4+ years, but anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. And there are soooo many of those on social media spreading blatantly false and also dangerous information.
I'm in school to be a dietitian and I feel the same way with so many people on social media being "nutritionists" and "nutrition coaches and give people wildly incorrect information. I never expected it to extend to something like teeth but here we are

If you ever need to sue someone please don’t rely on this misconception. Personal injury lawyers OFTEN take cases on retainer which means they only make money if you win, and they will take their payment from the final amount of $ you win in the case. This means you have to pay nothing up front, but obviously they won’t generally pick up your case unless they think there’s a reasonable chance of winning and recouping costs. I think the real problem is that the veneer techs themselves don’t have a lot of money, so some lawyers would likely view the case as not worth taking. The GOOD news in that situation is that YOU CAN READ!!!!!! All you have to do is research how to file your own case in small claims court in your state/county. It’s not difficult to look up and YOU DO NOT NEED A LAWYER! All you have to do is pay for the filing fees which are generally less than a couple hundred dollars

What are the greenies? I've been getting acrylic nails for years and have never seen anything abnormal with my nails. It sounds yucky, though, so imagining something yucky trapped between my natural tooth and some sh_tty veneer sounds horrifying.
@@uppercut147it’s an infection that can happen when acrylics aren’t applied properly or aren’t taken care of. I use to work with a girl that had it so bad her nails turned black and flaked off, she was going to a cheap salon and only getting refills to fix lifted nails.
I have two veneers on my two very front teeth (got them out of need, I had broken them 5 times and needed a more permanent solution). It is an ORDEAL to get them done, ain't NO way I'd go to a non-medical-professional. They were also VERY VERY well done. When I meet people who don't know about my teeth and the topic of veneers comes up (often with a negative connotation), I like to play a game called, "guess which of my teeth are veneers". Nobody has ever guessed correctly. Much like plastic surgery and fillers, good dental work/veneers just look like good normal teeth and you would literally never know. When I get a new dentist they can't even tell until I tell them/they see my records. Good veneers exist.
"if you can do nails you can do veneers" if acrylic or gel nails are done improperly it increases the risk for developing an acrylate allergy which can cause you to become allergic to medical adhesives which is extremely dangerous; people really need the foundational knowledge for ANYTHING done to the body before performing these services.
Here is what I thought about this…. The Dr gives the 2 days veneers training, then when the people teeth fall off after getting the veneers, the patients will go to a REAL dentist to have the mess fix ! 😂 full circle business.

Just like dentistry, you need to be LICENSED to practice nail technology and every other branch of cosmetology! As a salon owner, I can confirm doing nails is not easy and to practice without a license is a crime! A misdemeanor in damn near every state and if you're reported, you will have your day in court and several questions to answer. We also need to talk about ya'll going near people's eyeballs doing lashes, microblading and permanent makeup, charging unwitting clients hundreds of dollars for a procedure done in your bedroom not even knowing the difference between sanitization, disinfection and sterilization.

In my state and probably several others, you do not need a license to provide lash extensions. It is only recommended you take a course in doing so. Which is why so many people are doing it, sometimes with zero training. And the reason so many people end up in the ER with their eyes glued shut or with pink eye. And why I specifically mentioned lashes here. Because we don’t really talk about it, assuming lash techs have a license while providing services in anything but a sanitary environment is dangerous.

I have epilepsy and the first medication I was on for my seizures caused my teeth to loosen over time. I'm 54 and have spent thousands on dental work trying to save my teeth. They look good, but I fear biting into a steak one day and losing a tooth. I have good dental insurance thankfully but even with a great dental plan, my out-of-pocket maximum is $2500 a year. So after I meet that for the year, I have to pay for everything myself. Dental insurance is the opposite of medical insurance where you are covered at 100% once you meet your out-of-pocket maximum. I would never trust someone who doesn't have a medical background to work on my teeth given my medical history. No one should. The University of Washington Dental School is a great resource for people needing dental work without insurance or who can't afford to pay for their insurance deposits if they live in the Seattle area. They are an excellent Dental School. I work for my insurance provider. We are a small, locally owned not for-profit insurance company. I feel like I kind of went into too many insurance details but that's my area of expertise.
The paperwork she’s describing is informed consent. Basically, it certifies that the patient knows what’s being done to them and knows the risks. That does NOT immunize you from malpractice lawsuits
Contractually, if the contract includes some illegal doings, then its void. If this business practice is illegal, then their contract is void. Thats what im assuming from what i learn from the lawyer who figures out whose liable.
I went through the University discounted dental work program once. If you have time for longer appointments and need to pay less for dental work I would recommend it! I got several cavities worked on over 8 months and paid a fraction of the price. The appointments can feel long when you're waiting for the teacher dentist to make their rounds to proceed to next steps. I fell asleep in the chair waiting a few times haha. Some appointments were 2.5 hours long
This is insane! Im a pharmacy tech in-training right now and its a whole ass process just to do that! Its a 6 month to a year training process including 140-something hours of online learning and like 100+ hours of practical hands on training to get certified. Ive been in training for about 7 months now and Im almost done and ready to take my exam, but there are so many laws I have to know, and so many things I need to know how to do, on top of knowing what I legally can and cant do as a tech and what has to be done by the pharmacist. I cant imagine thinking 2 days as a tech in training makes me qualified to be a pharmacist, let alone performing procedures ON PEOPLES TEETH

@IsabellaLanter thank you! It's just wild that they're claiming as a technician that they can do the procedures. As a pharmacy tech, we can only do the stuff that "doesn't require the professional judgement of a pharmacist," meaning we can count pills to fill prescriptions, we can input the information from a prescription into the computer, we can answer phone calls about a patient requesting a refill, and we can check patients out at the register. But we can't provide recommendations on products, we cannot answer questions about the safety of using two medications together, or the safety to use this product with this medical condition, etc. We cannot counsel patients about their prescriptions, and we cannot do the final check on a prescription before it is picked up, as those all require the professional judgement of a pharmacist. These "veneer techs" are insane!
I feel that if basic dental care (and even some cosmetic dentistry) were more financially accessible to the average US citizen, we would not see this becoming a thing. People would simply go to the professionals (Also not blaming the professionals, health care is just so insanely expensive here.)
This is scary!!!! I've had a lot of teeth complications and had to have braces, had all my wisdom teeth removed, receding gums and needed gums graft, had invisalign, and I have periodontal disease so my oral health is so important to me!!! I only go to accredited dental offices and to let licensed professionals touch my teeth!!! I hope these scammers get shut down and get what they deserve!!!

(Yes I spent my life being made fun of for my discolored teeth & yes they are my biggest insecurity. I have nightmares almost daily if all my teeth falling out or crumbling into dust.) I had to wait till my baby teeth fell out to get crowns. My condition makes it impossible for me to get veneers. I was told by a tech (trying to pitch me then while I was leaving the real dentist. He was in the parking lot offering his services) it was no problem he could “hook me up”. I have a upper set of dentures atm while I get implants and still he tried to pitch me. This is terrifying how they are doing this. I feel bad for the people scammed into getting the procedure but also those scammed into getting the classes & thinking they are doing good for others while possibly putting peoples life’s in danger. It’s not ok on any front. Those selling the courses need to be in jail.
I'm absolutely terrified of things happening to my teeth, half my teen years was spent in braces and the idea of dental surgery for any reason is just *shudder*. This is like something out of a horror film.
This is so crazy. I don't have veneers but I had to have a molar removed and I chose to have an implant out the options I had. My periodontist had to send the mold of my teeth to a lab that specialized in making the crown and color matching. A whole mold of my lower teeth to get one crown made! Even after putting it in, my periodontist had to adjust the crown by smoothing out areas so my bite was comfortable. And when I developed issues because the crown was just too tall, my periodontist removed it and sent it back to the LAB for more specialize adjusting and now I'm good to go. There's a reason there's specialists!
They are preying upon people who are desperate for a living wage and stable income, and upon people who are desperate for affordable dental care. They are specifically preying upon the most vulnerable classes of society, and I am FUMING. Absolutely shameful and predatory.
Wow, I’m in a five month program at a beauty institution to become an esthetician. We didn’t even perform a facial on a live model until over a month and a half in. We spent our first several weeks just learning anatomy, physiology, skin disorders, and diseases. These students should probably look into whether or not legal action could be taken against them…

They’re charging people to “teach” them how to commit a crime. You can’t even shampoo hair in some states without proper accreditation and training, but they’re just moseying along popping up shop for two days telling anybody with a spare $6,000 they can touch teeth (also note it is tax return season.)
I went to an oral surgeon/board certified maxillofacial surgeon this week to schedule surgery. The look of absolute horror on his face, as someone who knows so much about the health and technical side of teeth, the horror was just unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I explained this scenario to him.. he was floored. He was speechless. The way this man’s jaw just hung open. We talked at length about it and he immediately had some very realistic and terrifying concerns.
As a trained dental nurse taking 2 year apprenticeship in a dental hospital this is terrifying If there's no moulds taken or see an autoclave or sonic bath then get out
So scary that people are yet again preying on vulnerable people, desperate for affordable help. Contact dental schools in your area. Most have reduced prices & at least you know the work is overseen by licensed professionals.
Thank you sooooooo much for making this video. I was seeing a dentist in my area for 8 years who ruined my teeth. There was a lot of shady stuff going down that I never questioned bc she is a real, licensed dentist covered under my insurance. Unfortunately, due to her negligence I had to spend the past TWO YEARS, @ almost every two weeks. Getting root canals, crowns, and so much more. I am SO grateful my insurance covered it bc otherwise I would’ve been so screwed. I now have only two more appointments left of my treatment plan and I am sooooo happy and grateful. If I ever move again & have to leave this dentist I will be sure to research to the fullest bc it is as serious as you say! You teeth/mouth health is sooooo incredibly important! It can and will directly affect your heart health if you don’t take care of them. Thank you again for the video bc this is DEPLORABLE for people to do to others. I am soooo disgusted to see people doing this to someone else. I had a dentist claim I have a small cavity, so I asked for a filling so it wouldn't get any bigger. I've had fillings before, but even since I got that particular one, that tooth was in pain. I went back twice and the second time, they threatened to give me a root canal if I came back. So I was too afraid to see a dentist for years. My cousin recommended her's so I decided to give it a shot. Turns out, it wasn't a cavity but an old filling. So they put a filling on top of a filling. No wonder I was in pain. The new dentist completely took out the filling and replaced it. I've been pain free since. My mom wasn't so lucky as they actually took out one of her teeth, but when she went with my new dentist, he said that that procedure was completely unnecessary.
My TikTok has been nothing but “vaneer tech” videos this week. The craziest thing is when I go these peoples pages there’s still a bunch of people in the comments asking for the services! One woman said she was going on tour!
Lawyer here. A contract is civil law and has nothing to do with criminal charges. That is 100% different. Also, if you’re doing something illegal, you cannot contract away that risk. I can’t say for sure, but I would assume that document is absolutely worthless. Honestly, there are so many reasons why this could still result in a civil suit and likely a very successful one. The main reason why I wouldn’t be successful would be because they don’t have medical malpractice insurance and therefore won’t have the financial backing to payout damages.

Honestly I think one reason this has grown is because of how much of a joke dental insurance is. Both my dad and my sister had a genetic dental disease where their teeth had little to no enamel and needed all of their teeth removed and to get implants. Dental insurance paid absolutely $0 for the new teeth. so they each paid around 40k-50k.

That’s how I was able to afford a dental implant when I needed one! Because of the complexity of my issue, my case was heavily monitored by the dental faculty to be sure the student didn’t make any mistakes. I definitely recommend to someone who needs affordable dentistry!

the big college/university in my city offers getting cavities filled and other smaller things through their dental training program but u have to go for soooo many hours for the students to finish their work and be trained. i looked into it and it was like minimum 8 visits at 3 hours a visit and u might not even get seen for the first couple. if youre desperate its definitely an option though

I came here to point out this exact fact. An NDA is null an void if it’s used in an attempt to hide illegal activity. I’m not an attorney, but completed several semesters of law school before I decided to get a masters degree instead. I find that uniformed people throw around the threat of an NDA’s existence to get away with committing all kinds of treacherous activity, but the minute said activities become illegal, that NDA is no longer valid. I also find that NDAs usually do very little except existing as a potential threat of a future civil penalty if the signee does disclose information. This only works if the person enforcing the NDA has enough disposable income and a retained attorney to sue someone. Furthermore, NDAs have an expiration date, so eventually you can spill the beans without the threat of a civil suit.
Basically, if someone is rich or powerful enough to enforce a breached NDA by dragging you through court for years, it’s enough to keep most signees quiet. I do know people who have worked closely with extremely wealthy people who have signed them. I also have a friend who dated a celebrity and signed one. That’s where I’ve seen NDAs used often is for personal relationships where the person who has the document drafted doesn’t want to have someone who knows all their personal information and dirty secrets share with the media. This is why you sometimes don’t hear about the “elite” behaving badly until many years later: the whistleblower signed an NDA and was waiting out the contact’s expiration date in order to avoid being sued.

People really think stuff is expensive for no reason and the cheap option is "just as good".
And I think the biggest issue is that most things are just a risk game. Like a lot of people do get good/okay results with unlicensed estheticians which is how they stay in business. But when it goes wrong it can go horribly wrong, and often it could have been prevented by proper practice. Or like the veneers, usually you don't find out something is wrong until much later. So for some people, I guess paying less makes it worth the risk, but that's only if they're on the good side of that risk. Of course if they're the one to suffer a complication, they will tell you it wasn't worth it. Even a broken clock is right twice a day.
People keep acting like this is the option because poor people can’t afford dental work. It’s not! It’s people who won’t to get everything for a cheap price and look like everybody on social media. The “victims” of the veneer techs, didn’t seem like they were poor or hurting for money.

A very common example is a dead tooth, which is a major problem that MUST be treated with a root canal because without it, you can literally lose your teeth, a part (or the entire) jaw, or your life due to the infection. It is important to get regular dental checkups because even if you brush your teeth religiously, small problems snowball into life-ending problems.
Teeth are not a decoration, they are living tissues of your body. They are not nails, they do not "grow back".

After a very long time of not going to the dentist for a variety of reasons, I recently went to one. I had a single cavity, in the back of one of my back teeth...think the part under the back flap of your gum. So it was only found by the x-rays, which are in and of themselves a bit cryptic to look at unless...you know what you're looking for lol. And it was very, very close to the nerve in my tooth, so I was told there was no way to tell if I needed a root canal or could get away with a cavity filling until he actually drilled in. Thankfully was able to just do the filling but...omfg imagine if I went to one of these veneer techs. I'd have been given the all clear I'm sure, and then what?

My stepdad recently got veneers. It was a WHOLE process over the course of a month or so. He got teeth pulled out, filed down, a fake set put in, and then about a month or two later, he returned to get the real set put in. Not to mention the healing, having to eat soft foods for a while, and minor swelling.. I can't imagine going to someone who is NOT licensed for something so invasive and serious. It took him a while to heal and that was without any issues too 😭😭😭
To be fair there are also types of veneers that go over your existing teeth and can eventually possibly be removed, those are much less invasive and painful than the full ones where they completely file down your teeth
But obviously if you’re in anyone’s mouth for any reason professionally you should have a dental license

Girl, my best friend is a dentist, a real one, and college alone was five years, and the amount of stuff they need to learn is unfathomable, those classes start with over 150 students and over half drop out before the first year ends. There is so much ground to cover, they learn about the entire freaking body, learn about the head and neck in excruciating detail and that’s still not all of it, and if they want to do something really specific they usually need to get specialized in it after college. Two days? They’re going to kill someone for sure, that shit is unethical and unsafe. At our school they started work in the clinic on the second semester, so that’s four and a half years of supervised experience before even graduating, and they did everything from cleaning to veneers, fillings, crowns, whitening, extractions, from babies to the elderly, and they get a lot of experience but 9 out of 10 still get more courses and postgrads, masters, etc afterwards because they want to become specialized in a particular area and provide a specific service, such as cosmetic dentistry, which includes veneers.
Two days or even a couple of weeks is nowhere near enough to learn all they need to know to provide a service like that.
For real. I went to the dentist to check a bad cavity and she checked and said the nerve was dead and my tooth needed a root canal ASAP or I'd lose it. I said I hadn't felt any pain so I didn't think it was that bad. She proceeded to explain how if I'd had an unrelated infection in any other part of my body and had taken antibiotics it was possible they'd also treated and slowed down any infection in my tooth, like a whole class on how medication can affect teeth. I was like "I thought you only treated teeth?"
My child got braces. 19 months of monthly visits, many photos, cleaning and then $7700 later perfect teeth
This is exactly what I was thinking my sister is a vet with a specialty in large animal dentistry. She went to school for around 12 years in total including her BA, veterinary school, residency, and then she decided to go for a specialty. Her student loan debt is insane, but she makes incredible money. That’s not counting all the anatomy text books that cost around $1000 each.
When I heard two days worth of training to be screwing around in someone’s mouth, I about lost my mind. It’s just crazy to me that people buy into the idea that this is safe, when even VETERINARY dentists have to do a decade of post-secondary education to do dental work on animals. Not that you should be playing with an animal’s health unlicensed either, but these are people.
Be so serious that you think you can take a two day training to learn how to do dental procedures. 😳 I spent 6-8 weeks doing my first yoga training, and have continued to learn over the past 15 years. That’s not counting my classical ballet training and anatomy classes, because you are touching people’s bodies. I was so glad to hear the dentist mention malpractice insurance, because I carry wellness professional insurance in case someone sues me, and I’m not potentially causing infections, but people can get injured. Anyone who works in health/wellness/fitness and is worth their salt carries either personal or business liability insurance and unless you want a lawsuit, you have people sign liability waivers. Every gym and public venue where you could potentially get hurt doing an activity has clientele sign a liability waiver agreeing to said activity. It won’t prevent a lawsuit, but it is documentation of that individual’s informed consent to said activity and the potential dangers. I’m always surprised how many people don’t read what they sign their name to. Any business that isn’t having you sign a liability waiver for something that could potentially cause physical harm is a huge red flag. Mind you, the lady in the video mentioned a liability waiver, but didn’t even know what it was called. “The paper.” Ma’am… And someone can still sue you if they sign one, but it absolutely reduces your culpability. Having insurance will cover you ass if someone gets hurt and decides to sue anyway. I’ve never been worried about being sued because I know what I’m doing, but any serious professional covers their ass anyway. And many professions require you to carry insurance to practice. These people are merely fly-by-night charlatans.

I just read about a spa in New Mexico that was performing blood facials without sterilizing equipment properly and multiple people were diagnosed with HIV that was tracked down to them, since people’s gums bleed all this makes me think about is people getting life long viruses like HIV from unsterilized equipment.

A few thoughts-- when you said that it is sickening how expensive dental care is, I agree. HOWEVER.. I do not think that means dentists/orthodontists etc are "overcharging". I believe this stems from our own health insurance thinking dental CARE is a luxury lol. People even pay THOUSANDS of dollars for a tattoo from an artist that is well known and gives QUALITY work.. so lets have the same energy for dentists in the medical field, who did their schooling, got the proper steps and take all necessary precautions.

A few minutes in and memory unlocked! I remember last year this guy went viral because a lady gave him composite veneers and he was upset because they weren’t the color he wanted. He asked for white but she gave him something closer to his natural teeth shade because he’s a smoker and he didn’t have enough money for a full set. The composites became more yellow orange over time and he was embarrassed. I just remember thinking how unethical it was to take his money knowing he needed to see an actual dentist. Not only did he have less money for actual treatment, but now he needs MORE money to undue what she did and still address his dental issues.
Dentist here. If veneers aren't shaped with a thorough understanding of and consideration for occlusion ("the bite"), there is a high likelihood of developing traumatic occlusion, meaning the bite forces are heavier on the teeth than the surrounding bone and ligament can withstand, resulting in loss of bone surrounding the tooth (periodontitis) and thereby eventual tooth loss. This is especially likely when material is only added without first subtracting bulk through prepping (shaving down) the tooth. There's a reason we shave the tooth down before putting a veneer on. We're not doing extra surgery with all the additional liability that comes with that just for funsies. It's because if you don't shave the teeth down first, you get traumatic occlusion. Very rarely, people's teeth are small enough and their bite open enough for "no-prep" veneers, but it takes a licensed dentist with thorough understanding of occlusion to make that determination and do that procedure. Fortunately or unfortunately, periodontitis is a slow process over several years, and these patients will likely not know anything is wrong until a decade later when they need all 8 incisors taken out due to severe perio.
Additionally, composite requires a bonding layer that is liquid until cured and typically needs to be carefully cleaned out from under the gums at the end of the procedure with a scalpel or scaler, both of which can and will cause infection including HIV transmission if unsterilized (please note that sterilization is not the same thing as disinfection, and true sterilization requires extremely expensive equipment to produce and a thorough knowledge of infection control to maintain). If they are cleaning the bonding out, that's high risk of infection, if they aren't, that's high risk of, again, periodontitis and tooth loss.
TLDR: even if all the procedures were done in a sterile environment (they're not), on patients cleared to have no active caries or periodontal disease (they're not), these procedures would still result in tooth loss when done by unlicensed professionals.

Just because you can file and shape nails, which are made up of keratin, have no nerves, and no blood supply (at least the part that you’re working on) does not mean you can file and shape teeth which have major nerves and blood vessels connected to them.
They are probably just going off the history of dental products originally being used for nails. I think there still is a lot of cross over between the methacrylates used for some dental products and nail supplies. But no, nope, absolutely not. If I’m trying to get upsold at my nail appointment to have veneers done, I’m done 🤣

@@91Vault you can learn, maybe, generously the basics - how to paint within the nailline, do shapes out of acrylic/polygel, etc., MAYBE. but doing nails professionally requires a LOT of practice so that you can do all of those things consistently and also a lot of knowledge so that you are aware of what ingredients you are working with (and why they can be harmful) and what conditions people can come in with. say a nail tech has a client coming in with onycholysis not having any idea why they're experiencing this condition and only being concerned with the aesthetics, so they ask the tech to cover it up. onycholysis is frequently associated with nail gel/acrylic allergy - putting on more of those products will worsen the situation. nail techs need to be aware of that - you can't really learn that kind of client management in a day because it comes with time and seeing a lot of clients. people in nail salons usually undergo weeks if not months of training under supervision to make sure they are conscious of how much attention they need to be putting on the task at hand. not to mention that all of those long lasting professional nail products like gels and acrylics are full of acrylate monomers, which are very small molecules that get into your skin very easily with exposure, and enough acrylate monomer exposure Will cause sensitivity (essentially an allergy), and an unskilled unaware tech can miss So many things that can lead to harm to the client (e.g. gel polish looks and feels fully cured when it's about 50% cured in reality, and undercured gel is full of unreacted monomers that can harm the client during wear or the tech who will be taking that manicure off in a few weeks, since they'll be breathing those shavings in when drilling/filing it off). nail techs are even more likely to develop an allergy themselves, and 2 days is not enough to develop and commit to a harm reduction protocol for that. and, in connection to the videp topic, some acrylate monomers are used in dentistry - in fillings and possibly dental glue. an acrylate sensitivity is forever and will only get worse with more exposure, so it can create problems for you getting dental work done.
TL;DR no, you really can't learn to do nails safely and responsibly in 2 days

Now I see estheticians on Instagram using Amazon kits and have no way to remove them. You need to use etch, bond, curable veneer cement, and you need to neatly and effectively encase the gem on the sides to ensure lifting, causing most people to swallow them. It’s so scary to watch people with no licenses at all just picking it up and charging people with no experience.
To remove them, especially custom charms, you need a drill and a very specific line up of drill heads for smoothing and polishing, ALSO you need the knowledge of a dental assistant OR have a dentist overseeing and training you to do so in order to protect the enamel of the teeth/ never drill or polish too far

Dental assistant here! Been in the dental world for around 4 years now, and this is just crazy, and I actually have a story from our clinic. I had a patient who came in for an emergency exam, stating that a “veneer” came off. After a limited exam (minus x-rays because the patient declined them) it was determined that the patient had had composite “veneers” placed on their teeth, and the composite was starting to chip off. After a loooooong discussion with the patient, it was agreed that we would remove all the composite from the patient’s teeth in order to prevent any further damage. Other than the fact that the veneers just looked awful, they were also all splined together, which prevented the patient from flossing. There was so much build up on the patients teeth from not being able to clean them properly, and, even without any x-rays, clinical decay was noted on the patient’s teeth. After removing all the composite and doing some slight reshaping of the patient’s enamel, which was needed because the bonding that was used what so thick it was hard to determine what was enamel and what was material, the patient declined further treatment. It was such a bizarre thing to whiteness, not to mention, the entire twin having the doc I was assisting with struggling to remove the material and saying how weird the composite was, saying it was unlike anything he had prepped through before. Was an interesting day for sure. Moral of the story, just go to a dentist if you need anything regarding your teeth treated.

I got into a bad accident when I was in junior high, which knocked out my top front teeth (the “church teeth”). They were still in but badly whacked out of place. I was blessed to have an oral surgeon save my teeth. Like TWENTY YEARS LATER, my body randomly started to reject my own teeth by resorbing the roots.
My excellent dentist caught it early and referred me to an uncannily talented endodontist. I still have the teeth about a decade later. Long story short, the body is complicated! Oral health is complicated.
If I got dubious veneers in my 20s, I’d probably have lost the teeth and maybe ended up with infected teeth and bone due to degradation under that part of my gums.
Physicians, nurses, dentists, dietitians, physical therapists, occupational therapists, and other health care professionals… We all have 6+ years of school, have to take board exams to prove we are competent, maintain a license to practice our profession, continue education every year, state boards for overview… and literally state laws for each profession that dictates what we can and cannot do and what we can call ourselves.
Let me add cosmetology people have to take exams and be licensed too!!

i'm a massage therapist, even we have to go through 500+ hours of training, take and pass licensing exams then maintain our license in most states.
This is the direct result of a systemic failure. When people can't earn enough income to afford a skyrocketing cost of living, when continuing education is inaccessible to many, and dental care is inaccessible to many, the scammers thrive. They know many people are struggling and want to bette their lives, and desperate enough to fall for their tricks. These scammers are exploiting groups of people who are already exploited and vulnerable. It's absolutely sickening.

As someone who also suffers from dental anxiety - my therapist provided me with a list of trauma informed dentists in my area! I was able to find a wonderful dentist and am in the process of undoing damage now. It is absolutely a privilege to be able to see a dentist & get restoration work done. However, this is 100000% not the way. You cannot F around with your teeth and dental health. This is so so sad that these folks are getting away with this.
Resorting my smile and being able to smile again confidently has been life changing for me and I’m so grateful for my dentist and his team!

Unfortunately, until dental care is affordable in this country, this will ALWAYS be a thing. You can't get a SINGLE tooth filled for under 400$. Insurance doesn't matter when you are put on a wait list for months and months with no choice to even SCHEDULE. I have state insurance, full coverage, I cant even get an APPOINTMENT. The clinics that accept my insurance are FILLED for literally over a year at a time. Now this is all to say DONT DO THIS. GO TO A PROFESSIONAL.
Literally was $1600 for a root canal out of pocket with no cap put over it (couldn’t afford anything ) and this was with insurance and they messed up so I got an abscess and they won’t fix it unless I pay $800 more out of pocket

Same. I’m looking at taking out a $20-$30K dollar loan to cover massive dental work due to years of not being able to afford quality care. Now I need implants, possibly a bridge. Preventative care is so important for good oral health and the American healthcare system is a mess. Especially since insurance companies seem to think dental and vision care is “elective.” Like, you do actually need teeth to eat and correct vision to see. It kills me that most insurance policies cover little to no dental except basic cleanings and extractions. So if you DO finally get good coverage and you’ve neglected your teeth previously due to no or insufficient coverage, you’re in for a serious bill and it’s too late for prevention.
i had something similar happen to me. i really had to buckle down and save to afford quality dental work. i’m so glad a sacrificed for a year to save to have a great experience that has allowed me to be more comfortable with regular dental visits.

Not even a regular dentist usually does veneers. It’s an esthetician dentist that’s a high especially in dentist school and dentist has to be broad certified. There are veneers technician but only do the molds of the smile but it’s under a supervision of dentists. In the video you see people working on other people. That’s def not ok. They only do the sizing next to the dentist that does the real work

No such thing as a dental aesthetician. And there’s no board certification for placing veneers. But we do ongoing continuing education throughout our careers, and I for one took a few veneer courses.

Not a prostehtician, but have spent many years as a porcelain tech making full arch implants/ partial implants. We don't even TOUCH the patients but still spend substantial time learning anatomy, esthetics, etc before working on real cases. Not to mention the amount of cases I've worked on for very young patients who now have to dump a huge amount of money into permanent prosthetics due to failed veneer procedures.
Maybe im wrong but I think even dental assistants need a minimum 2-3 years of schooling and field experience before becoming certified. Veneers seem much more complicated than a routine cleaning. I have a lot of respect for those in the dental field. Teeth are something you dont appreciate and think about until theyre gone. And there's a reason one of the most common nightmares across all of humanity is having your teeth fall out. These folks could genuinely kill someone. Tooth diseases are scary scary shit. Youre the first person ive heard discuss this and Im so glad im aware of this scam.
Dental hygienist needs 5 years, my friend is a dental assistant and she got hired with just a CNA (Certified Nyrsing Assistant) license, and was given on the job training. She still has a very strict scope of practice, training, and a different medical certificate with experience. Totally different than this veneer crap
My wife is an RDA, and yes she did about 2-3 years of schooling. However, she has to renew her license I think every year or two years, and sometimes goes in to do re-certification. Even so, she's NOT certified to work on veneers yet either. I told her about this scam and she's literally in disgust hearing about it.
When I did this many years ago, I trained for a year to be an assistant. However dental hygienist training is closer to two yrs for an associates and four years for a bachelors degree. This two day training and then setting up a non-hygienic practice is nuts!😮

After I got my wisdom teeth out (all four at once; surgical extraction) I got an infection that was pretty minor--until the infection spread to my legs and suddenly I was a serious priority for the dental office. I was prescribed some large pills and eventually it all got better (and the holes in my mouth closed). But it could have been bad, if I didn't have a doctor to go back to.
Even without wounds in the mouth, infections of the teeth can lead to bacteria spreading to your bloodstream or into your bones. THAT'S BAD!
As somebody who has had lifelong dental issues and has lost and broke a lot of teeth due to chronic health issues and not been able to have them fixed or pulled for dentures, there is no way in hell I would ever do this. Even as desperate and insecure as I have been in the past, there’s just no way. I really hope that more people see this and educate themselves before going to some “back alley veneer tech”. This is despicable to pray upon people who may be desperate, just to pad your pockets. This infuriates me. Certificates of completion, for anything, mean nothing legally. It’s just something that helps your résumé to show that you have learned something specific. I’ve done a course at an online college for social media marketing. It doesn’t mean I have a degree and it doesn’t mean I am “certified“ to be a professional social media marketer. Girl, I have amazing insurance, and need to get some work done on my teeth (fixing a chipped tooth that quickly became a root canal) and was quoted $1.5k out of pocket on top of my insurance. There is no way on Beyoncé’s planet that a whole set of vaneers should cost only $3k, these people are insane.
It's more like 40K for porcelain veneers (stain resistant). The other composite veneers are cheaper, but they stain so bad. SMH Prices are outrageous!
Even dentists mess up veneers, because it’s a specialized skill. It takes additional training/residency on top of the 8 years of required training/ licensing/examinations. Composite veneers are some of the lowest quality veneer style. Composite stains with coffee/tea/smoking, so your veneers will stain very quickly and easily to a lovely brown/black color ❤

Isabella, this kind of intrusism in various proffesions has been happening a lot for a while. I think this is going forward because no one is doing anything about it. One of the first proffesions to suffer this phenomenom was mine: im a psychologist. But anyone can be a "coach", "therapist", etc... idk how it goes there because im from a country in Europe where we really regulate this shit in the psychology World, but there...i think the intrusism is brutal. I already heard of intrusism in like hairstyling, makeup artists...but the teeth are a health matter, the same as with mental health proffesionals, and that should be very important.
Same with dieticians vs nutritionists! In the US a dietician has to study for 4+ years, but anyone can call themselves a nutritionist. And there are soooo many of those on social media spreading blatantly false and also dangerous information.

If you ever need to sue someone please don’t rely on this misconception. Personal injury lawyers OFTEN take cases on retainer which means they only make money if you win, and they will take their payment from the final amount of $ you win in the case. This means you have to pay nothing up front, but obviously they won’t generally pick up your case unless they think there’s a reasonable chance of winning and recouping costs. I think the real problem is that the veneer techs themselves don’t have a lot of money, so some lawyers would likely view the case as not worth taking.
The GOOD news in that situation is that YOU CAN READ!!!!!! All you have to do is research how to file your own case in small claims court in your state/county. It’s not difficult to look up and YOU DO NOT NEED A LAWYER! All you have to do is pay for the filing fees which are generally less than a couple hundred dollars

@@uppercut147it’s an infection that can happen when acrylics aren’t applied properly or aren’t taken care of. I use to work with a girl that had it so bad her nails turned black and flaked off, she was going to a cheap salon and only getting refills to fix lifted nails.

I have two veneers on my two very front teeth (got them out of need, I had broken them 5 times and needed a more permanent solution). It is an ORDEAL to get them done, ain't NO way I'd go to a non-medical-professional.
They were also VERY VERY well done. When I meet people who don't know about my teeth and the topic of veneers comes up (often with a negative connotation), I like to play a game called, "guess which of my teeth are veneers". Nobody has ever guessed correctly. Much like plastic surgery and fillers, good dental work/veneers just look like good normal teeth and you would literally never know. When I get a new dentist they can't even tell until I tell them/they see my records. Good veneers exist.

"if you can do nails you can do veneers" if acrylic or gel nails are done improperly it increases the risk for developing an acrylate allergy which can cause you to become allergic to medical adhesives which is extremely dangerous; people really need the foundational knowledge for ANYTHING done to the body before performing these services.

A misdemeanor in damn near every state and if you're reported, you will have your day in court and several questions to answer. We also need to talk about ya'll going near people's eyeballs doing lashes, microblading and permanent makeup, charging unwitting clients hundreds of dollars for a procedure done in your bedroom not even knowing the difference between sanitization, disinfection and sterilization.

In my state and probably several others, you do not need a license to provide lash extensions. It is only recommended you take a course in doing so. Which is why so many people are doing it, sometimes with zero training. And the reason so many people end up in the ER with their eyes glued shut or with pink eye. And why I specifically mentioned lashes here. Because we don’t really talk about it, assuming lash techs have a license while providing services in anything but a sanitary environment is dangerous.

I have epilepsy and the first medication I was on for my seizures caused my teeth to loosen over time. I'm 54 and have spent thousands on dental work trying to save my teeth. They look good, but I fear biting into a steak one day and losing a tooth.
I have good dental insurance thankfully but even with a great dental plan, my out-of-pocket maximum is $2500 a year. So after I meet that for the year, I have to pay for everything myself. Dental insurance is the opposite of medical insurance where you are covered at 100% once you meet your out-of-pocket maximum. I would never trust someone who doesn't have a medical background to work on my teeth given my medical history. No one should.
The University of Washington Dental School is a great resource for people needing dental work without insurance or who can't afford to pay for their insurance deposits if they live in the Seattle area. They are an excellent Dental School.

Thats what im assuming from what i learn from the lawyer who figures out whose liable.
I went through the University discounted dental work program once. If you have time for longer appointments and need to pay less for dental work I would recommend it! I got several cavities worked on over 8 months and paid a fraction of the price. The appointments can feel long when you're waiting for the teacher dentist to make their rounds to proceed to next steps. I fell asleep in the chair waiting a few times haha. Some appointments were 2.5 hours long
This is insane! Im a pharmacy tech in-training right now and its a whole ass process just to do that! Its a 6 month to a year training process including 140-something hours of online learning and like 100+ hours of practical hands on training to get certified. Ive been in training for about 7 months now and Im almost done and ready to take my exam, but there are so many laws I have to know, and so many things I need to know how to do, on top of knowing what I legally can and cant do as a tech and what has to be done by the pharmacist. I cant imagine thinking 2 days as a tech in training makes me qualified to be a pharmacist, let alone performing procedures ON PEOPLES TEETH

@IsabellaLanter thank you! It's just wild that they're claiming as a technician that they can do the procedures. As a pharmacy tech, we can only do the stuff that "doesn't require the professional judgement of a pharmacist," meaning we can count pills to fill prescriptions, we can input the information from a prescription into the computer, we can answer phone calls about a patient requesting a refill, and we can check patients out at the register. But we can't provide recommendations on products, we cannot answer questions about the safety of using two medications together, or the safety to use this product with this medical condition, etc. We cannot counsel patients about their prescriptions, and we cannot do the final check on a prescription before it is picked up, as those all require the professional judgement of a pharmacist. These "veneer techs" are insane!
I feel that if basic dental care (and even some cosmetic dentistry) were more financially accessible to the average US citizen, we would not see this becoming a thing. People would simply go to the professionals
(Also not blaming the professionals, health care is just so insanely expensive here.)
This is scary!!!! I've had a lot of teeth complications and had to have braces, had all my wisdom teeth removed, receding gums and needed gums graft, had invisalign, and I have periodontal disease so my oral health is so important to me!!! I only go to accredited dental offices and to let licensed professionals touch my teeth!!! I hope these scammers get shut down and get what they deserve!!!

I was born without enamel. (Yes I spent my life being made fun of for my discolored teeth & yes they are my biggest insecurity. I have nightmares almost daily if all my teeth falling out or crumbling into dust.) I had to wait till my baby teeth fell out to get crowns. My condition makes it impossible for me to get veneers. I was told by a tech (trying to pitch me then while I was leaving the real dentist. He was in the parking lot offering his services) it was no problem he could “hook me up”.
I have a upper set of dentures atm while I get implants and still he tried to pitch me.
This is terrifying how they are doing this.
I feel bad for the people scammed into getting the procedure but also those scammed into getting the classes & thinking they are doing good for others while possibly putting peoples life’s in danger.
It’s not ok on any front.
Those selling the courses need to be in jail.
I'm absolutely terrified of things happening to my teeth, half my teen years was spent in braces and the idea of dental surgery for any reason is just *shudder*. This is like something out of a horror film.
This is so crazy. I don't have veneers but I had to have a molar removed and I chose to have an implant out the options I had. My periodontist had to send the mold of my teeth to a lab that specialized in making the crown and color matching. A whole mold of my lower teeth to get one crown made! Even after putting it in, my periodontist had to adjust the crown by smoothing out areas so my bite was comfortable. And when I developed issues because the crown was just too tall, my periodontist removed it and sent it back to the LAB for more specialize adjusting and now I'm good to go. There's a reason there's specialists!
They are preying upon people who are desperate for a living wage and stable income, and upon people who are desperate for affordable dental care. They are specifically preying upon the most vulnerable classes of society, and I am FUMING. Absolutely shameful and predatory.
Wow, I’m in a five month program at a beauty institution to become an esthetician. We didn’t even perform a facial on a live model until over a month and a half in. We spent our first several weeks just learning anatomy, physiology, skin disorders, and diseases. These students should probably look into whether or not legal action could be taken against them…
I'm so glad this is coming to light. It's been a year since i last had tik tok, but when i was on there, this was just starting off. There were also unlicensed people giving people braces, which is also very dangerous.
Ughh! I’m not even 10 minutes in, and I’m back in the comments because my thoughts are thinking 😂 This is such a bad idea! How did an actual dentist get involved in this? Is he still licensed? They’re charging people to “teach” them how to commit a crime. You can’t even shampoo hair in some states without proper accreditation and training, but they’re just moseying along popping up shop for two days telling anybody with a spare $6,000 they can touch teeth (also note it is tax return season.)
I went to an oral surgeon/board certified maxillofacial surgeon this week to schedule surgery. The look of absolute horror on his face, as someone who knows so much about the health and technical side of teeth, the horror was just unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I explained this scenario to him.. he was floored. He was speechless. The way this man’s jaw just hung open. We talked at length about it and he immediately had some very realistic and terrifying concerns.
Ummm also doing 2 day filler courses?! This is so dangerous 😮

If there's no moulds taken or see an autoclave or sonic bath then get out
So scary that people are yet again preying on vulnerable people, desperate for affordable help. Contact dental schools in your area. Most have reduced prices & at least you know the work is overseen by licensed professionals.

Thank you sooooooo much for making this video. I was seeing a dentist in my area for 8 years who ruined my teeth. There was a lot of shady stuff going down that I never questioned bc she is a real, licensed dentist covered under my insurance.
Unfortunately, due to her negligence I had to spend the past TWO YEARS, @ almost every two weeks. Getting root canals, crowns, and so much more. I am SO grateful my insurance covered it bc otherwise I would’ve been so screwed.
I now have only two more appointments left of my treatment plan and I am sooooo happy and grateful.
If I ever move again & have to leave this dentist I will be sure to research to the fullest bc it is as serious as you say!
You teeth/mouth health is sooooo incredibly important! It can and will directly affect your heart health if you don’t take care of them.

Edit: Also, I am a Licensed Cosmetologist (which I know is WAYYY different than a dentist and that’s my point) and we cannot even comb hair in my state without MANY hours completed, passing state boards and paying for licensure.
I just am in shock that this is even happening.
I had a dentist claim I have a small cavity, so I asked for a filling so it wouldn't get any bigger. I've had fillings before, but even since I got that particular one, that tooth was in pain. I went back twice and the second time, they threatened to give me a root canal if I came back. So I was too afraid to see a dentist for years. My cousin recommended her's so I decided to give it a shot. Turns out, it wasn't a cavity but an old filling. So they put a filling on top of a filling. No wonder I was in pain. The new dentist completely took out the filling and replaced it. I've been pain free since. My mom wasn't so lucky as they actually took out one of her teeth, but when she went with my new dentist, he said that that procedure was completely unnecessary.
My TikTok has been nothing but “vaneer tech” videos this week. The craziest thing is when I go these peoples pages there’s still a bunch of people in the comments asking for the services! One woman said she was going on tour!

Lawyer here. A contract is civil law and has nothing to do with criminal charges. That is 100% different. Also, if you’re doing something illegal, you cannot contract away that risk. I can’t say for sure, but I would assume that document is absolutely worthless. Honestly, there are so many reasons why this could still result in a civil suit and likely a very successful one. The main reason why I wouldn’t be successful would be because they don’t have medical malpractice insurance and therefore won’t have the financial backing to payout damages.

Honestly I think one reason this has grown is because of how much of a joke dental insurance is. Both my dad and my sister had a genetic dental disease where their teeth had little to no enamel and needed all of their teeth removed and to get implants. Dental insurance paid absolutely $0 for the new teeth. so they each paid around 40k-50k.
