WBA Lightweight title - 3rd defence by Mancini
Romero was ranked No. 1 by the WBA and had a record of 30-0-1, with 12 knockouts. However, he had never fought outside of his native Peru and was a huge underdog.

He is an excellent boxer- great fight.
Mancini as a champion was a cherry picker. As a contender he fought both Alexis Arguello and Jose Luis Ramirez and after he lost the title he fought both Camacho and Haugen. But as champion his resume was made up of a past his prime and much smaller Bobby Chacon, and the rest were a who's who of mediocrity, and this fight was no exception.
32:01 ref was like, "4, 5, 6. 7.....oh, you're getting up? No way? Mancini just killed a guy! Fight's over"
Did you NOT see the glaze in Romero's eyes? He was HURT.
Romero, run out to gas, he did not have a plan vs Mancini who is a survivor, thats why he lost
A tad overrated
