I've figured why the recovery folder doesn't show up on the File Explorer. Apparently, that folder is treated as a 'protected operating system' file and those are by default hidden in the File Explorer as it is recommened. To view the folder, simply go to File Explorer, click on the 'File' button in the upper left corner, select 'Change folder and search options' or sometimes simply 'Options', go to 'View' tab, scroll down in the 'Advanced settings' block and uncheck the 'Hide protected operating system files (Recommended)'. Click 'Apply' and 'OK', refresh the page if needed and now you'll probably be able to see it. I had to do it two times in some cases, as the first time didn't apply the setting for me, but it did the second time. Hope it helps!

Is it possible in this application that the program, when recovering and moving files, can place files as they were in the source device? The point is that as there are e.g. 3 folders with games. Each folder has its own subfolders, e.g. ambient, txt. The point is that files from 3 different folders will not end up in 1 shared folder, otherwise it will end up mixing files and possibly overwriting them.

not sure but i would expect that there is some form of check that is does. but honestly not sure, it is still a beta product
I dont comment often but you safed my life. I corrupted my girlfriends usb by accident with 3k+ pictures of her childhood. Everything worked like a charm and i can confess to her now. Thank you very much man
Glad it helped - and thanks for taking the time to comment :-)
It's free??
@@NilasDreamworld yeah.
Do you know how long it is gonna take to scan 1.5 tb of data?
probably about 24 hours at a guess
Thank you
Can the source disk and destination disk be the same
not really sorry
With that command prompt line, I feel like a pro Linux user XD It's good to know MS offers a free soft for recover, in case you "accidentally" deleted a file.
yeah using a command line i feel like i'm in hackers

It seems like I and other people are having difficulties even installing this. I downloaded from the store, but the install button is now greyed out and when I refresh the top left of the store says "You own this app." To the right of greyed out Install, are 3 dots which when clicked states "Install on my devices." Which opens a window "Where do you want to install? It looks like you don't have any applicable device(s) linked to your Microsoft account. To install, sign in on a device with your Microsoft account. I am logged into my Microsoft account and I've tried it on a desktop and laptop with the most up-to-date Windows 10. So frustrating. This is my last hope to recover a Word document that was corrupted when I pulled the USB out of a laptop a few seconds after saving it and Word closed but I didn't properly "eject" the USB first. I gave up hope 3 years ago when it happened, but thought this might help.
try using recuva that is supposed to be good for free also
Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to Thanks for the suggestion, it recovered files from the USB drive but they were still corrupted.
Thank you so much. I recovered my files. But there are so many files and they're not in their original locations. How do I make them appear in their original locations? Please help 🙏
not possible if the file directory structure is broken or missing
HELP :(
1. I tried to transfer folders from sd card of my phone to laptop by "Cut" then "Paste". When i opened the folders, pictures are ok but video files are gone.
2. I tried to transfer the same folder back to the sd card, video files are still missing.
3. I watched and tried many file recovery videos and there was one video that suggests that you should try quick formatting on the sd card. Now, theyre all gone T.T
4. I tried again different file recovery videos , and windows file recovery. nothing worked :( . Can i still retrieve even just the video files?
try using Recuva, it has a nice interface and is free
It fully scanned my drive and its at 713 files recovered, but it has just completely stopped is this normal or do you know a fix to this?
try using recuva it is a more friendly interface
Is it possible in this application that the program, when recovering and moving files, can place files as they were in the source device? The point is that as there are e.g. 3 folders with games. Each folder has its own subfolders, e.g. ambient, txt. The point is that files from 3 different folders will not end up in 1 shared folder, otherwise it will end up mixing files and possibly overwriting them.
it might be possible but as this is a work in progress it might be best to ask the software devs for specifics
what i have installed a fresh copy of windows, can i recover my c drive txt files
possible but if the sectors have been written over it will make if more difficult
I lost my data when i use my external hdd for installing windows, can you help me sir?
i can't but the software might, or recuva is another good option
Mike's unboxing, reviews and how to Good stuff!
However, I need to recover a FOLDER. Specifically the frickin' onedrive folder. What syntax do I use to do that? Otherwise this tool works too well and is recovering files from years ago and renaming them in the process. Sorting them would take weeks. So I just need to undo onedrive, deleted tonight.
Thanks.
if you go online to the online app you will have a recycle bin that should have your folder in
@@mikesunboxing Hi, Please help me. I am using a borrowed college computer so I’m not sure how this computer is programmed. I lost my files by trying to install G-Drive tutorial. Instead I lost all my data. The computer said would you like to rename the g-drive and I did, to Drive A. I chose drive A to transfer any recovered files to the C Drive. I’m not sure if this was the right thing to do. I’m waiting to see what happens…
Mine keep showing 'Please specify drive letter in the correct format (eg. C:)', even thoght I have specifically specified the drive letter and folder in the said format.
try using recuva, it is a much easier interface and is pretty good
I have a Lenovo Idea pad wit windows 10 & this app says it won't work on my computer for some reason! Any suggestions or alternatives?
recuva is a good option
I can't seem to recover a large file that I deleted. It was the whole local version of OneDrive that was having a lot of Sync Errors. I should have just moved it. When I signed back into OneDrive a lot of files were missing. I'm assuming that everything I was saving was only being saved locally and not uploading to the server. The C:Drive recycle bin has over 7 gigs in it so I'm pretty sure my files are there but I can't recover them. This tool is being blocked by our Security Policies. Is there any other way to recover the file that I deleted?
try using recuva by the people that make ccleaner, that is pretty good
Bro, after formating all files in drive. Can we do this
you can get it a try
Does it work for videos and movies to ?
i believe so
@@mikesunboxing ok will try it when i get home thanks for Quick reply :)
Thank you for this video. I had tried following the microsoft info but wasn't getting it. I was only trying to recover a certain file type but it never was able to do that so I just used your commands and boom... It's scanning and recovering.
Glad I could help
The program has been running for almost the whole day now and it's still at 00%. It's scanning a portable SSD and I only have one folder on it so it should not take forever. Can I just stop it? Or do you know what I did wrong?
not sure why that is, but i would stop it and take a look at the command lines and see if there is any obvious problems
I did the command but nothing is happening. I pressed enter and...nothing.
try using recuva that is still free to use
@@mikesunboxing thank youuu
I can't seem to open the app?? I click on "GET" but nothing happens. Any ideas?? Thanx
use the free recuva software, we did a video on it recently, much easier to use and navigate
Help please i have accidentally wiped my 1TB external hard drive and i would like to recover most of the files how can i go about recuperating those files knowing that i have an internal ssd of only 240 gigs ?
that is going to be a problem unless you restrict the file types. Otherwise you will need a larger drive to recover to
@@mikesunboxing Well thanks anyway, i decided to take it to a company that will have the means to recover all my documents. It will cost me 67 dolars LoL !
Thanks for this man. It helped a lot!
Glad it helped!
My Winfr goes then it like enters a new promt win32 c or w.e I can't get it to even stay scanning can anyone help?
This is maybe easier to fix or at least advise if we can ask more questions and get direct answers, so feel free to join our Discord chat and we can go over it in more detail discord.gg/gaeeDPw
What do I type to recover files deleted from ssd.
i would suggest using recuva instead, a much easier interface
Thank you. It helped me a lot to recover deleted files.
Glad it helped
Was it completely free?
does it works on laptop with only one disk?
No you need to add a disk to recover to or you are overwriting the data
Hey Mike! Any idea how to recover files off an mp3 player that doesn't show a drive letter?
Not sure sorry. But interesting problem
Does it work to recouver photos from the windows pc?
should do or try recuva, you can specifically ask for photos

Didn't work for me. Microsoft store won't let me download the app.
hmm not sure why that would be
I've tried, but there's always a message "This tool must be run as administrator", and I've tried right click -> run as administrator but still can't.
sorry not sure what is going on there? maybe give MS support a shout out
don't run it as admin from the context menu. just click it directly.
I CANT FIND WHERES THE DESTINATION ITS ALL DONE BUT I CANT FIND IT PLS HELP
it is shown in the video, or you can search for the files recovered and open the folder
@@mikesunboxing WHERE THE RECOVERY FILE DOES NOT HAVE IN C DRIVE I CANT FIND IT PLS HELP
I wish the tool has an easier interface. It is better to save files by linking the bad hard drive externally or "slave mode".
However, files recovery software will damage the hard drive. Each drive has their individual problem. File recovery tools should be both hardware and software.
yeah i agree
Thank you so much for this video. Accidently I cleaned and formatted my external hard disk by the commands prompt which contains about 300GB data. Can I retrieve my data which includes different formats like images and videos using this software?? does each time making the process of recovering using any software it will decrease the chances of getting the rest of data ?? kindly advise thank you.
it might do it, although i would also maybe take a look at the recuva software from the people that brought us ccleaner, i used it recently and quite impressed
how long does this take, using this on a 128gb sd card. i have been running for 20minutes but its still on 0%
difficult to tell but that sounds like it is doing nothing
I got this exact same issue. I solved this by using PhotoRec instead. Worked lik a charm!
does this work for notepad?
notepad saved docs yes, the notepad app no
As I said, I get to the point I have to click on "GET" but nothing happens after that??
try using recuva, we did a video on it recently, much better interface and still free, the microsoft one is still a beta really
can i recover uninstalled programs like microsoft office?
the files can be recovered but not the installation, that would need registry entries etc

Is there a good way to recover filenames?
not that i know of sorry
Ok this is all good and dandy but what if you truly accidentally deleted a file and you don't even know what you deleted and where. Is there a way to browse recently deleted files?
not that i am aware of, but that would be a good app, although i guess security concerns might be an issue
