  • Can we talk about the top five mistakes made by beginner poker players?
These mistakes include neglecting to use preflop ranges, slow playing too often, focusing solely on their own hole cards, c-betting roughly 100% of the time, and watching the wrong kind of videos on TH-cam.
In this video, James "SplitSuit" Sweeney provides practical advice on how to rectify these issues to transition from beginner to intermediate skill levels, including utilizing the GTO Ranges app for preflop ranges and Core from Red Chip Poker for comprehensive lessons. He emphasizes the importance of developing a solid strategic foundation and avoiding the allure of quick-fix "secrets."

I'm not a beginner, but still like to watch what James puts out there for newer players. Since my play is now more recreational, it is good for me to keep a solid base on the state of the game today versus when I was more serious 15+ years ago.

These 9 minute ads for redchippoker have some decent production value. That monotonous jingle is a classic. Other than that, thank you for the tidbits of advice, happy new year 🥳

Love your examples, are you seeing if we are paying attention? Always (100% of the time) check pocket Kings when an Ace comes on the flop. Nut underpair rules. Thanks James! That video should be required viewing for any poker player.

Fishier games that go multiway a lot do you widen your early ranges with more strong multiway hands (suited connectors, set mining, suited aces)?

It's usually not a great idea to knowingly put yourself OOP MW in medium SPR pots with those sorts of hands.
