Generally, I’ve never been interested in skeleton watches or Raymond Weil for that matter, but this one is intriguing I gotta admit.
This watch could put Raymond Weil on the map. Never gave RW a second look until now.

Finally a major watch TH-camr covering RW! I love this brand! I have 2 freelancer open hearts with the RW1212 in house designed movement! One silver dial on metal band and one black dial on leather band both with the rose gold accents and they are gorgeous and though the same model, wear quite differently. You said the movement is proprietary but I thought I remembered that RW designed the movement in house, and Sellita just produces it for them? Anyway, I love how this watch actually displays the balance wheel properly and fully exposed rather than the cheaper open hearts where 3rd party movements often have large portions of the balance wheel covered or buried deeper so you can’t really see it. Thanks for the video and the great cinematography! If you ever want to review one of the non skeleton open heart models, let me know! I’ll send you one of mine for review if you’d be willing to send it back! I want this brand to get a little more recognition and that might help lol

I was waiting for you to say the one thing that makes the RW1212 so remarkable: It's that inverted escapement. Most open-heart watches, including Frederique Constant, always show you the underside of the escapement, which is much less appealing. Such open hearts are obscured by the metal plate. But by inverting the escapement, Raymond Weil have turned it into a feature attraction. You can really see the escapement going.
Got myself one of these, very very happy with it. Never misses a beat. Everyone always asks about it. Very eye catching.
Which color do you have? If you have the black, how is the coating holding up? Are you still happy with it? How often do you wear it? Thanks

I've got a weird relationship with skeleton watches. I love looking at them! I think they are so intriguing! but I just wouldn't really wear one. Beautiful watch!

Being an engineer I’m pretty fascinated by skeleton watches. Are there any classic skeleton watches that hold their value as well? Because I don’t wear them often so the utility value isn’t that high for me. But I’m willing to spend about 10 grand on one in case it holds it’s value.

I have 2 freelancers and love them both. They are both open heart one silver dial with rose gold accents and metal strap and one black dial with rose gold accents and leather strap. I love the exposed balance wheel on their design because it actually shows the entire balance wheel rather than covering it up partially like a lot of cheaper watches do with 3rd party movements. You’ll love yours once you get it!

I'm new to watches and really like to see the inside of the watches. I'm thinking about buying the Freelancer Skeleton Black Bezel but don't want to be cheesy if there is a skeleton watch stigma.
I have had the watch he reviewed for a little over a year now and everyone loves it. I cannot tell you how many conversations I have had about the skeleton dial, and how it works. The only "Stigma" would be from watch enthusiasts that are only into dress watches, but that would be their personal preference anyways
If you love watches and love the way they work, you should go for the skeleton. I have not once had a negative conversation about mine

This Skeleton is very cool but 42 is a bit bigger than I like on my wrist although the idea of owning a two tone bessel where the patina will change over time is very intriguing!
Has anyone found that the rotor in this watch is quite loud? Sort of rattles when it moves and settles?
I think skeleton watches look kind of sweet, except.... the hands never stand out well enough against the background.

I'm not a fan of PVD coating. It comes off too easily. They should have gone with Cerakote, or even better, DLC.

I thought it was automatic instead of hand wound. Can it be both?
Yes. If the watch has a weight in the back that will wind with the movement, it's automatic. However majority of automatic watches can also be hand wound via the dial

I really love this watch to death. It is beautiful but the strap clasp edges are super sharp and digs into your wrist. Suicide by Raymond Weil slit wrists.
