I made this journal style 18 months ago as my first journal, with items I found around my house. I’m now totally into junk journaling and have made more than 30 journals, including 5 journals for myself ✨✨😊🌈 Thank you so much for the inspiration, your kindness and care, and clear instructions ✨✨😊
absolutely adorable 💌 can see myself using this type as a travel journal to document a vacation! putting together the maps, little ephemera like wrappers and tickets inside the envelopes 🌷 amazing johanna as always 💗
Ahh that would be perfect for a travel journal! You could always switch out the book pages for map paper, and add some travel themed scraps on the cover too 🥰 thank you for watching! 💌
That is such a brilliant idea putting the tissue paper over the collaged cover, never thought of doing that before but defs going to use that in my journalling 🤩
I made a journal from the same size envelope and I like that it gives you scope to add larger pieces of paper too. I really liked when you added the sewing pattern paper to mute the front. I’ll have to beg some of that from my sewing friends. Lovely tutorial making a great journal.
Thank you for sharing, what a creative and beautiful journal! I love so much how approachable and straightforward your teaching style is, and so encouraging that even total beginners can make their own beautiful custom journals with materials they already have at home. I have SO many envelopes, this idea is perfect!
I absolutely love how beautifully this turned out and i love how you said the binding is easy because the only reason i havent made my journal yet is im scared im gonna ruin it ( even though ive been journaling for years)
That is so cute and so easy and quick. Thankyou for sharing. You explain so easily. Tomorrow I will start my first junk journal, so I will try to remember to take pics along the way.
@@JohannaClough And I was thinking, using the pinking shears or speciality edge scissors on some of those pieces of paper would make it look even more like a quilt cover...Am definitely going to try this; have a six year old granddaughter who thought my first journal effort for her didn't have "enough pages"...(meaning, enough big clear pages for her to draw/colour on). She wanted MORE PAPER. Lol.
I really like your idea of using pattern paper over your collage pretty paper it does give it a bit of an antique look and adds nice texture. Thank you for sharing that technique very cleaver.
I love this way to use a sewing pattern to make bright colors look more vintage. It has almost an encaustic look to it. Going to try this for sure. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love this technique that you showed step by step so clearly. Thank you I will definitely be giving this a try and also am going to try doing something similar with fabric! Love your tutorials. ❤
I love everything about this video I'm so glad I've found it! The journal is very nice, your voice is very pleasant, your explanations are great - not too much, not too little. There is no rushing nor speeding yet everything flows and everything is interesting - that is the balance hard to achieve. On top of that you didn't ruin the whole thing like so many others with a music, so the video is relaxing and enjoyable! Well done! Now I'm curious to see how you filled the journal... I hope to find that. I feel inspired, thank you x x x
This is just great!! Such a wonderful idea. I’m definitely going to try this. Can hardly wait to see how you fill your journal! Thank you so much for sharing your lovely ideas!!
With your video you gave me a good idea. I made such a cover several times , but everytime the cover cracked and the parts of scraps were getting loose, even though I put glue over the cover when I was ready with my paper parts. But putting that tissue paper over the cover gifs the scraps of paper no chance to get loose. Thanks a lot for this idea.
Thank you for sharing, so beautiful! I have learned so much from watching your videos. Your work is always so inspirational and beautiful💕 I would love to see an updated walk thru of your daughters first year baby album. I loved the series so much and love all three of their albums❤️
Wow I think your journal is amazing. You’re such an inspiration. One day I hope to visit Australia. I live in Florida so I’m thinking it would be many hours on a plane. You never know.
This is a super cute idea love it. I have so much washi tape that I am always wondering what do i do with it and this just gave me a super idea so thank you!!
I watch your channel a lot. You, amity bloom and Treasure books are my favorites. I’ve gotten hundred of hours of enjoyment from you channel so thank you for that. I wanted to ask - I’ve bought half dozen of your digitals. I’d like to see more journaling videos with you using your digitals. I love the ideas.
Very cool idea. Turned out so well. I got a DAvid JOnes bag yesterday which is black and small ..perhaps A6 size so keeping that one for a journal cover. Thank you for your creativity.
Fantastic! I love the cover and it gives me an idea of that I might do with some of my pen pal envelopes. I love the decorating on them and think it would be fun to bind them. TFS!
Hello!! I'm new here and I love what I see. The cover of the journal is very pretty and you have given me many ideas to use a lot of envelopes that I have lying around. Thanks for sharing your ideas. 🥰
The covers always seem so hard for me to make and this video really helps for a beginner. I can put signature together but then I don’t finish because I don’t know how to begin for the cover. I always watch your videos and thank you so much for this one.❤️

@@JohannaClough YES, THANKYOU
You sure simplified that process with items anyone may have in their home, very very nice.
I love the simplicity of how it was made.Tnx for the helpful technique 😊🧸💜🐰
Thank you for advice regarding muting colour. I love the idea of adding sewing pattern paper to tone down and age papers. Thanks.
I absolutely love the vintage farm vibe, and the cover is SO adorable! Inspiring!
Love this. Planning to use this idea for my first try at book binding. Looks fun and creative.
I am definitely going have a go at finally attempting a journal, you are a great teacher TFS XXXXX
That is such a brilliant idea putting the tissue paper over the collaged cover, never thought of doing that before but defs going to use that in my journalling 🤩
It’s really fun! I think i’ll try it more crinkled next time!
Love the patchwork cover effect! It’s really eye catching!

I’d love to know where or what patterns you get the plain paper without lines at. Every single pattern I have has the pattern printed on it.
@@kholbrook203 I tried the same technique without having this sewing pattern paper. Instead, I used some baking paper and it worked out very well.
Thanks for all the wonderful ideas!🍁🍂
So cute! I love the cover technique so much. The pockets provide so much room for treasures, etc. Great job!❤️
Thank you Robyn! It did turn out quite cute 🥰♥️
