For everyone confused about the pay thats NET PAY which is take home that means that’s AFTER taxes/benefits the gross is $8,200-8,800 a month. I drive for Walmart & no other company out their like them besides UPS.. I’m home 12 days minimum out of the month EVERY MONTH, not including the days I go home in the middle of my work week. When it comes to your days off theirs no stressing of having to remind dispatch of your time off, your home on time every week if not your early. The time I been here not once I had to pick up the phone to remind them of my days off for the week. It’s great to have some weekend’s off & work some since they pay extra for weekends. Every 3 months we get $1,000 bonus of being accident free along with an extra vacation day. They may be strict but if the pay is good along actually having a life I’ll abide any policy. Plus as a new driver you start with 3 weeks of vacation days tbh idk any company that will top that.. Don’t let simple rules scare you away theirs good in it at least in my opinion..

The Walmart team drivers are a set weekly pay of $2,700 all the time regardless if they had to pull you off a load cause vender was taking to long to load you up etc. Your gone for 5days & back on your 6th taking 3 full days off of a rotating a schedule. You meet old school WMT drivers that have been with the company since 70's or 80s they are most likely millionaires in paper from stock. Unsure how many of them are left though.

I just hired on with them and they now allow 6, 10 min calls a day. If your door opens you get paid. After 45 mins of setting you get paid. Benefits are top notice. Stock is probably the biggest thing there as far as a benefit. They provide uniforms as well

Would you rather have cameras not always being on you and not being on the phone all day or be making 100k a year with benefits that cover your whole family?
Some of the folks I’m in school with have said they smoked weed before. Meaning they stopped in order to get their CDL and get paid well

I’m leased to a small carrier in GA in the next town over from one of their DCs. WhenWalmart is busy they will ask for a few of us to pull for them, their trailers their loads and dispatched through them. Tuesday through saturday. In my time pulling for them I only done one live load that took 30 minutes. EVERYTHING is drop and hook. The only downside to being and O/O pulling for them is you’re guaranteed 800 bucks a day no matter what but they only wanted to run me 425-475 miles a day and it was 2.12 on all miles loaded or empty.

This is the most accurate reply in here for contracting to Walmart. I just did about 5 weeks for them here in Tx. The money is capped, but it’s stead work and EASY. I’d consistently get trips handed to me at 0700 that weren’t scheduled until 1400 on 1 hour drive time. They are very laid back. I wouldn’t mind going to drive for them directly at some point, I don’t think all the drivers net what was in the vid. I had several tell me they make around 80k a year. 15-1600 gross a week. But the benefits are great.

Calvin Johnson yeah it’s the same way on the east coast. It’s a nice break from flatbedding but to me it gets old after a while and I can gross more on a per day per week basis with the flat. I usually get on it in the thanksgiving and Christmas rushes

Just a little info - I work for them and yes had to slip seat for about the 1st year but it was the same 2 trucks - drove one the first week, then the other on the second week then back to the 1st. After about 9 months, I got my own truck - what Walmart calls full-time - meaning that truck is your assigned truck - I see comments about making more at Werner and whatnot - my last 3 yrs have been 102K, 105K, and 106K - driving between 1900 and 2500 miles a week - you don't wait a lot at venders - if I arrive for a backhaul and its not ready, they will pull me out and send me to another vender - yes the rules suck, but honestly its because Walmart has had to hire Swift and Werner drivers and they have driven the accident rate up significantly. Just my 2 cents.

Why no phone calls? And did you say you are video recorded??? That is ridiculous. Being stuck in a truck all day, I would think they would encourage hands free calls. It would make being away from family so much easier if spouse, kids could talk to their loved ones and feel connected. I don't mean use a cell phone but hands free devices. Kids, especially, would feel so much better if mom or dad could connect with them and it would ease the burden of being away from each other for most of the week. As for video recording... Ah, nope. Just being real here... That would make me feel weird.

Ups will pay you this. They don’t fuck around. You will wear a uniform. You will share a truck with someone who drives the other part of the days. You will be clean shaven. But trucks run 68 or 74mph. It’s the definition of drop and hook. They don’t care about talking on the phone or speed too much. But they care of time. And they will push you, they don’t want you stopping. They want those loads moving. Very strict about time. But you will clear 100k. But you will be home nightly unless your sleeper team.

I used to work at Wal-Mart here in Lubbock and while working there I had noticed those trucks do a drop and hook, drop full trailer and pick up the empty trailer. I had noticed the past couple of years or so Wal-Mart advertises on the trailer skirts they are hiring drivers abs wherw to apply. If I had a Class A vs a B and had combination vehicle experience I'd probably apply. I've seen Wal-Mart drivers here in Texas they are by themselves and not a team..

I applied to Walmart 4 next yrs ago thru trainerjames2013. I had 25 years OTR experience at the time with no accidents , tickets or anything bad on my DAC and they came back with an email saying “company not interested” They gave no other reason... The closet 2 dcs to me in Orlando at the time did not have any openings but I volunteered to move to Texas to a dc opening out there and they still would not hire me. But I never knew why cuz they don’t tell you. Dec 2021 will be 30 yrs out here for me and I’ll be retiring...my body is broken down, my stress level is thru the roof and it’s not fun like it used to be. Too many rules, too much selfishness between drivers and everyone’s in a hurry. Keep the dirty side down truckers.. b safe .

As a retired trainer/instructor for a major US company I will tell you 3 reasons that a person is not hired. The companies can't tell you this is because it is discrimination. You are the wrong race or you are coming from a unionized company and they are not or they say you have too much experience. Regarding the experience they mean you are too smart to be molded into their way of thinking. I agree with you it has gone downhill. I know you are beat to crap but I hope you can still enjoy your retirement and get to reminisce about the good ol' dsys.

Walmart application is NOT easy either. Is almost like trying to get into Harvard University. But if you’re willing to deal with the process, and follow company rules, it’s an easy 100k minimum a year. Cameras don’t face inside, they face outside in case of and accident, Walmart can use the video to cover the driver legally. Now if the driver is the one responsible, that’s not Walmart’s fault. That’s the incompetence of that driver…

Yes sir, this is facts!! My dad drove for Wal-Mart for 12 yrs & retired early due to too much politics in the company. But he loved the miles (3,500 to 4,000) week & most drop & hook, but seldom had to wait at Distribution Centers. And he made bout 95k a year. He told me if he drove more of a full time, he'd make 110k a year easy, he was on a week on & week off type deal. Some drivers don't like them, because they are pretty picky on who they hire, but some drivers love them, its just what you like. & about the hazmat issue, I was told you have to have it, because you haul like car batteries & fertilizer. It's not that good of a job . Sum drivers are making that money but your never home . The only way you will make that money is working 6 days a week . The one pay stub from the first of the year is wrong. First of the year it's slow and your lucky to work 4 days a week . If you have kids at home you will never see them . A lot of BS at Walmart if it's so good how come a lot of the drivers that have been there are leaving. I had 13 years with them and my GTM told me if I didn't like it there's the door so I retired. Walmart does not care about the drivers anymore it's just a trucking company that sucks
