When I stumbled upon your WIRED interview, I was far from expecting functional analyses of behaviors. I am a therapist and they are insightful. Thank you very much.
So happy you got a TH-cam channel!! It was your book on body language that got me interested in the topic. You always explain it so well and make it easier to understand. Also you seem so down to earth and kind, using your talent in a great way. I have major respect for your work and I am a big fan!!
Not that I am super in to reading body language but watching your videos has made me more aware of what people are feeling. Pretty smart to "boil it down" to two feelings. Comfort or discomfort, that's all you really need to know in the context of the encounter.
From observing babies and other cultures, it just seemed the most simple means to interpret behavior that seemed to work. I hope you enjoy it and thank you for your comments.
This is interesting. I enjoy observing, usually plants and small animals, so I'd like to observe human as well. Also I'm so happy for your channel. I often see your books cited in social engineering techniques.
😮💨I´ve got them all, I was reading that orange book behind you with all the explained gesticles on the body language. With this "inflation is hard to read a book nowdays.."
But none of the ten are aiming the legs and you said, the lower the body part the more authentic are the nonverbal signals right? We are less used to mask them up
I have a question: doctors learn to communicate to a patient in a certain way. I notice that this makes it more difficult for me to see whether they are lying. always that feeling when that is the case. Unfortunately, that's what it says when you read the file again. I still find it difficult with that group. I did find your book very useful.
one of the question that am curious a about is ..why when someone swears on something touches his/her neck?i see some people swears a lot..that its become their habit.Hope you will answer or include this question in next video of you joe.
Hi and thanks for your question. Neck touching is often triggered by insecurities, apprehension, even fear, so I would consider the circumstances such as - are they swearing as a result of having to do something they dislike? Check out my article on the neck: www.jnforensics.com/post/body-language-secrets-of-the-neck
@@joenavarrobehaviorexpert wow!!i just read the article and am so completely satisfied with article you wrote. The examples you mentioned especially of your grandmother and that women and his wanted son,Next time am gonna pay more attention on neck touching behavior .The way body talk more than words is incredible.
I catch myself compressing my lips when I am holding back from saying something that could be construed as negative or that I am afraid to express. I cover my eyes with both hands over my eyebrows and eyes (picture a visor pulled down over one's eyes) if I'm saying something that's very vulnerable or I feel very embarrassed about something I'm sharing or I've just said. I have CPTSD from a horribly abusive childhood and marriage. I don't know how CPTSD factors into body language, but I have an overly acute conscience, a fear of "getting into trouble," of not being believed, or of being misunderstood. I live with shame, grief, and guilt. I therefore have NO poker face whatsoever! I would crumble in a minute under any kind of interrogation if I was guilty of something. I still feel guilty over stealing a few grapes from a grocery store when I was 5 years old! That's an overly acute conscience!
Great clip - however, I tend to interlace my fingers when I'm most relaxed and feeling confident, and steeple my fingers when in thought, contemplating what I'm hearing, particularly in meetings.
As a psychoanalyst student this helps a lot when supporting patients unconscious body lenguaje movement, specifically in psicosis where we have to be very careful to identify subtle microgestures, for a proper intervention ❤
Congrats Joe! I tried getting into the FBI but was not allowed after my roommate tricked me into consuming marijuana and I failed the last part of the interview. Destroyed my dreams and hopes, as I failed my brother(whom was murdered). But I love your book and will use this!
Sorry to hear that you missed the opportunity on first try. Never give up though - you can try again after 2 years have passed. Glad to hear you love my books, I appreciate that!
It depends on how much the person lacks in confidence. It is on a scale. No experience, no preparation, no rehearsal, no capacity, yields little. Where as high capacity, some experience, some rehearsal will garner more. And some people are just naturals.
Hi Joe, love your videos. Been following your work for several years now. Also, nice to know you’re Hispanic. Joe también soy hispano. Many blessings for you and your family. Adriano

Subscribed. I have to keep myself safe as a busker in an increasing dangerous streetscape. People must stay 6 ft away from me and if they get into my personal space get a warning and alarm bells go off in my mind .
Foreign films? I like the idea of watching people communicate across different languages, especially those that I don't understand (most!), but why film? Why look for valid body language in an artificially created scene?

That is a lot to unpack. Have you ever thought about getting professional help if these worries and concerns are affecting your daily life.
Great clip - however, I tend to interlace my fingers when I'm most relaxed and feeling confident, and steeple my fingers when in thought, contemplating what I'm hearing, particularly in meetings.
I tend to do the same, but note that I am talking about knuckle on knuckle pressure with stiff fingers when there is high stress.
Such a great learning channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. ❤
Glad you enjoy it! It pleases me very much
When the lips are compressed, so that the lips are hidden and the color is not visible, depending on the context it can mean anxiety or worry?
Yes or concern or in a meeting it may mean you want to talk but no one is yielding to you
As a psychoanalyst student this helps a lot when supporting patients unconscious body lenguaje movement, specifically in psicosis where we have to be very careful to identify subtle microgestures, for a proper intervention ❤

Okay what about lip pull combined with cheek chewing, stiff posture, clemched jaw, clennched fists? When ALONE (but observed)?
