keep your goals to yourself and work towards them quietly. save your money regardless how long it takes and build your dream from within. you don't owe anyone a thing, you come first and don't let people discourage you and call you selfish...tell them i don't want to be used anymore

@@ThanomJ you could switch the word 'used ' to 'manipulate' .
just say ... ''i am not selfish for not thinking of you first, i just don't want to be manipulated anymore''

Interesting concept, living in the present to be happy. Maybe that's why I started going gray at 25 when my parents started at 40. Now I'm 42 and look like I'm pushing 60. All I ever do is work for a future that's always in the future.

I’ve been there-chasing a future that never seems to arrive. It took me a long time to realize that the present is where life’s actually happening.

To keep present in the moment, I've found "Scarcity: Why having too little means so much" a good read which approached things from, what I would consider, a reverse perspective.
Instead trying to "be" present in the moment, what is lacking or the scarcity in my life that causes me to be "not" present. The book has some good research and my favorite (cause it relates to my career and life haha) is the scarcity of time and how that compounds itself to have less time by feeling you don't have time to even time manage. Breaking that cycle by allowing yourself the very thing that is scarce, personal time is counterintuitive because you feel you are not working, you are wasting time, but, this is what helped me be more effective with time management....granted this was not an overnight transformation lol.

That’s such an insightful way to look at it-focusing on the scarcity that keeps us from being present instead of just trying to force it. I haven’t read ‘Scarcity’ yet, but the way you describe it makes a lot of sense, especially when it comes to time.
I definitely feel that "If you're not working, you're wasting time"

You don't reach happiness, you have to notice it.
