So crude, just buy a transmitter keyfob and receiver unit for a few quid, then wire output relay volt free contacts across start stop switch- - -Job done.
You didn't waste your time; an EV with a pre-heat function is almost mandatory in any place that falls under 0deg C. If you're not at home or at work (like going to the grocery run or a shopping center), coming out to a pre-heated car is a bliss. Also this is something Mitsubishi installed from factory for the i-Miev but probably again for the sake of cost-cutting took away from the French duo (similar to the gearshifter B mode).
Just watched ALL your videos. Thanks for the funny but informative stuff, keep 'em comin ! I have Prius PHEV at the moment, fine car, but hunger for more EV-kilometres just keeps growing... Noticed yesterday that a ´14 Mitsubishi iMIEV came for sale at around 12K euros, should I or should I not :-) Here in Finland it´s just about the only affordable EV-vehicle with a somewhat decent range, otherwise you will have to dig deeper into your pockets. Well, I shall see what happens...
This is hilarious. You buy an over prices EV that has little to no distance and constant wait times to charge and it will not keep you warm in the winter without losing even more distance. The you install a diesel heater that pollutes. The auto manufacture is laughing all the way to the bank.

A lot of those heaters come with remote controls, and timers, the control unit might be interchangeable
