Welcome to the final episode...well done getting through this show...it is a tough one. I really like the way the makers of the show added the notes at the end to cover some of the things they got wrong, simplified, or made more dramatic...I just wish they had done more of that, or been more honest. For example, they say that "it has been reported" that everyone on the "Bridge of Death" died...but those reports are very much NOT true....so technically, they are being truthful, but not quite. Other things they do not admit to, I can understand...such as the fact that Legasov was not even at the trial of Dyatlov and company...but it is kind of necessary to turn him into a kind of hero figure and have him do much more than he really did so that the story can be simplified enough for most folks to keep track of.
That was a fantastic reaction. You should be more famous. I loved this series, especially Boris' character arc, and the final conversation between him and Valery was one of the best moments ever in TV. I wish it had been a little more accurate - they treated radiation more like a zombie infection or something - it doesn't really work that way, and not as quickly as portrayed. The acting was highest rate, and the score is incredible - I read most of the music is composed of sounds from an actual reactor.
using reactor sounds is crazy ... Boris and Legasov's conversation was an absolute highlight for me for sure! Just two men respecting what the other has gone through
I liked your reaction Jae but you did it too fast. I generally check like once every 2 weeks for Certain movie reactions that I like. I just found your day1 reaction today. and went thru alll of them. Had you gone slower me , as well as, a lot of others would have given you comments. I 'll tell you some thing. First to the Soviet Union the most Important things to them is IMAGE. Thats why they were slow to act. In the Soviet Union when your told to do something you cant refuse or your shot on the spot or hauled off the prison. The series is pretty close to historically accurate. The main things they played Film Makers license was effects of Radiation If your at the spot a nuclear bomb goes off you die from the heat not the radiation. The nausea is correct but the burns, etc. take days, weeks, months, years depending on level of exposure. Also once a person has their cloths taken off and body washed it is not possible to catch radiation from them. So good job overall in reactions just do each like atleast a week apart. The next HBO SERIES which i think you will enjoy is HBO ROME. Its a 2 series drama following the Roman Empire thru Julius Caesar, Mark Anthony, Cleopatra. EXCELLENT Askme any questions you like I will respond in the comments here.
Only one issue with your excellent comment...it is possible for a person to be dangerously radioactive even after they have been decontaminated. For one thing, a person who has taken in a large amount of radioactive dust...like the firefighters...will excrete radioactive material through their urine, feces, spit and sweat. In addition, at a certain very high level of dosage, the body itself can become irradiated and will emit measurable radiation. Of course, since babies are at least ten times more sensitive to radiation than adults, it is highly likely that the Ignatenko's baby was doomed just from the dosage that Lyudmilla got by being in Chernobyl so close and downwind to the power plant. But whether she did or not, it is definitely possible that she got some additional dosage from being in such close contact with her husband.👍
@@iKvetch558 Well yes if you want to talk about contact with the blood, but not like sweat. until person dies then its a hazard thats why buried in concrete. As far as with the wife its likely she received the radiation while out at the town and not from him If she had begun iodine pills, which keep your body from absorbing some radiation, then who could say.exactly.
@@cherylsims5636 Iodine would have protected her thyroid from radioactive iodine, but would not have protected her or the baby from any other radioisotope or type of radiation. And once again, it is possible that her husband received such a high dosage that he himself was irradiated, and would be giving off some radiation...we simply do not know since there are not proper records of how many rads the firemen received.
