I am an American and I need help understanding why y'all call The Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton? It sounds so disrespectful to me. Why don't y'all call her, Catherine, Princess of Wales? I understand that she was born a Middleton, but isn't she married now? If you want to call her by her nickname of Kate, at least call her Kate, Princess of Wales. Help this American understand, please.

She does not like to be called Kate. She should be called Catherine as it is her name.
Due to their royal status, they don't use their last names. For school, George is George Cambridge. Only blood royals can be Princess and then the name, none blood persons such as Catherine, is Catherine, Princess of Wales.

As I recall, from watching old clips of The Queen's coronation, it was Prince Philip who became her 'liege man of life and limb'.
That was an amazing chance to see what it was like for them. A really long weekend, but one the children will never forget.
