Great video, I picked up the same with ABS last June. Loved every minute and almost 6000 km last season. Cant wait to get rid of the ice. I see your in ON as well so maybe we'll see you on the road.
+Mały XL Yeah, owned the 250r for about a year. Stepped up to this and someday I'll buy something a little bigger. Insurance costs where I am sucks until you reach a certain age.
About four weeks after I bought mine I knocked it over with the auto, tilting garage door (pushed the wrong button). Broke an indicator, bent the brake lever, and scratched the exhaust. I was mighty pissed off. Cheers from NZ
Right on... We're considering one of these or a 300r with ABS for my wife. She fit the 500R perfectly. We're looking for this as a commuter bike for fun and economy. It will be her first motorcycle. Any input would be great!
Honestly, it's a pretty good bang for your buck bike. It is still light and nimble and is fun to ride on in any situation. Has nice low end torque for the most part so great for the cities and still has good balls at high speed for passing. It can go up to 180 Km or so most likely so it's plenty fast. Honestly, it's got a bit more horse power then the 300. It's fun, but not overpowered so it will be an easy, comfortable ride for her.
I would go right for the 500. You'll outgrow the 300 really quick. Even the 500 can eventually leave something to be desired but it's a great commuter bike and handles very well..
New to riding. In search of first bike. This good for someone who's 6'2 250. Really between this and nibja300 as I hear these are 2 best beginner bikes.
I was 5'11", 150 lbs back when I owned this bike. I personally enjoyed it but it probably would be a little underwhelming for you power-wise. You could honestly go with a bigger bike as long as you treat the machine responsibly. Don't be a maniac like some people are on them. If you do go with this bike, try to find one used or for a good deal because you will likely upgrade after the first season, when you're comfortable with riding.
@@BTdeltafan101 I found one for $4000 CAD with 5k km. It'll only be for casual riding, no speeding/groups. Plus I live in Tourist city so streets are more compact.
@@Camps2630 Should be fine then. 4k isn't half bad and like you said, will be good to learn the fundamentals on. If you ever do upgrade, look into the Kawasaki Z900 series, MT-09 or GSX-S750. They are very nice bikes.
So, I am very interested in riding a motorcycle. And was thinking that as this was hailed a "learners" bike, this would be a good starting bike to get into. Would you recommend this as a starting point, or perhaps point me to a smaller, cheaper one.
MistahFen Honestly it's up to you. It's a good size and does have some power but it's definitely toned down from a CBR600r even though there's only a 100cc difference. As long as you take it slow until you are comfortable with riding, you could learn on this.
Michael Scumaci I have some game footage from an event this year... Been meaning to do something with it but haven't really had the patience to sort through it unfortunately. Maybe some day I will add some fresh content. :)
I am looking into getting something like this for a first bike. I am 6'0" and 220 lbs. I was told that I would probably outgrow the 250r and the 300r really fast. How would this be as a learner bike?
dmiller0912 I have a CBR250R and I test rode the CBR500R recently and it's very good as a learner bike. If you get the CBR500R brand new, the break-in period will help you eliminate all fears of the bike if you even have any. I'm around your size too and I wish I had gotten the 500R first because I'm ready to sell my little 250 as soon as possible. The CBR500R also has a nice even power band and it's extremely smooth both in the shifting and throttle so you'll gain a lot of confidence from the bike. Hope this helps.
Who told you this fiction, the dealer ? Do you have a owners manual, if so it's in there, you might want to read this from a owners forum in reference to the 2014 cbr500r....www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=951987 .......I do hope it's not a problem for you; I happen to like the bikes and was considering buying, until these valve shim problems kept recurring...Still may buy one ? Good luck, yl
nice video :). when overtaking, do you feel like you can overtake cars easily? also how is foot positioning on the bike? because ime riden a gs500 and the pegs are in an awkward position, causing me to put most of my weight on my wrists. thanks.
+wanni While riding my cbr500r I sometimes find my right heel bumping the exhaust but that's really all I have to complain about. The seating position is just fine and you shouldn't feel like your weight is on your wrists.
Im thinking of getting this as a first bike the 250 is a very small price difference and i dont want to not like it in a very short while. Do u think i will wheelie on accident or is it pretty easy to control. Thank you!
+Christian Cuellar Late reply but most bikes won't wheelie accidently unless they are liter+ sized. From my understanding, you would really have to consciously try to wheelie a 500 or 600, throttle alone won't do it unless you drop the clutch hard. If I'm wrong someone correct me!
I am interested in this motorcycle, my current motorcycle is Aprilia RS125 2010 (34BHP). The CBR500R has 47BHP so it's 13 BHP of difference... Could you tell me if is it worth ? My Aprilia will do 115 MPH (184 KPH). i am confused a bit...
I don't know... Never rode a 300r nor was it out when I bought this bike. It's all personal preference I'm sure... If you think the 300 will be enough power to you, then good. Honestly I find I am wanting more power now after riding the 500 for a while.
Ameyalco As far as it stands now, I'm okay with the hondas but I'm not sure... When I turn 25 and insurance goes down for me, I'll probably shop around. I have always been interested in the daytona 675's and some of the Ninjas... :)
BTdeltafan101 I see. I also like the Ninja 300's, but in your case you probably will seek something bigger. Daytona's are beautiful!! What do you think of the KTMs, for example the duke 390?
I have the cbr 250r, I am seriously thinking of upgrading to the 500, instead of jumping to the 300r, do you think its worth it? That is, is the 500r miles better than the 250r?
Upgrading from 250 to 300? Upgrading from 250 to 500? Cbr500 is 471 btw. If you've had enough experience and are comfortable on your bike, you should honestly upgrade to 600. No need to take baby steps when you're comfortable riding.
I agree. I plan on getting the M2 VALE slip on as the stock exhaust leaves something to be desired. Doesn't have the low rumble that I am looking for in a bike. Definitely more of a whine.
***** Get a different exhaust, stock exhausts most of the time also work as suppressors to make it pretty quiet cause most people that get bikes of this type don't want it sounding like a supersport or to be loud etc
Basically, it all comes down to free time and growing up. I haven't quit paintball, I just quit filming things. I was spending an absurd amount of money on the sport for very little return so I decided to just enjoy myself and play when I can.
Hey I am 15 now but want this bike as my first. Im 5'11 and 142lbs all muscle lol. But by then like in a year or 2 i will be 6 foot or 6'1 probably 160lbs. Would this be good for me? Plus idk anything about bikes so im trying to learn. well please respond soon and ride safe.
+Reed Bradford You'll probably enjoy this as your first bike. But eventually you will want something a little more powerful. It's got some speed and is great on gas and insurance so for your age it will be all you need. When you get older and have more money you may want to look into something like a CBR600R. :) But you'll definitely have a good time with this bike. Currently, I am around the same height as you and I'm about 150 pounds and it pulls me around no problem.
+Reed Bradford I'm similar height and can have both my feet flat on the ground when seated. The 500s are quick enough for around town, you can drop down to neutral at lights and with some practice, launch in 2nd gear leaving everyone behind you. The bike is easy to launch from first gear, it can launch with no throttle applied so you'd hardly ever stall it unless you aren't using the clutch properly. If you aren't an idiot, and keep to the speed limits you will find it's a great bike to get around on, acceleration is strong enough to pull you back (if you want it) and the thicker tyres make going around curvy roads fun. Any 650+ engine will get you from 0 to the speed limit faster, and not rev as high, in other words you can do the speed limit in lower gears than the 500, and you would have a higher top speed. AND a bigger engine will go through the fuel faster. Kinda pointless to get a 650+ if you don't plan to race or do a lot of high speed riding.
THE SEAT PUTS YOU MORE INTO THE BIKE... I NEED TO SIT HIGH... 600RR IS WHERE ITS AT BRO... PEOPLE WAIST THERE MONEY GRADUALLY MOVING UP BUT YOU ONLY WAISTE MONEY... HAVING A BIGGER BIKE TAKES DISCIPLINE IS ALL BRO...
It's a fantastic byke
I have a silver 2014 CBR500R here in England. I love it - reliable, economical and the performance is great!

Yeah sounds good man. Glad you enjoy the bike as much as I do! :)
I bought a cb500f which is almost exactly the same only difference is handlebars and fairings. I have out on 10,200km in 8 weeks
Excellent report. Thankyou from Australia.
Ian Grebet My pleasure! Thanks for watching. :)
Is this the second model you have boughtten? :)

+Willoughby57 Mine at one point had both brake levers bent and a scratched exhaust as well. :( Corners and gravel don't go along well.
Ok thank you for the advice and yeah I guess i might want a bit more power later on. Ride Safe. Later

Thanks for the review!
Nice bike

Nice bike; how did your 600 mile, or 1000 k valve shim check go, were they all in specs, or did some need to be changed out ?
I never had to do it for this bike. 2014's don't need it, or so I was told. But on my old 250R they checked it after 600 and it hadn't changed.

Thanks
Hi, how/where can I get the fairings from? I am in Nigeria
I have same bike but dont know what exhaust to get.. Either coffman, two bro, mgp growler
Two bro! Got one sounds amazing!
How well does it handle with a passenger!?
Rex Reid Never tried, however I am usually not comfortable riding with a passenger on a crotch rocket.

Yeah I don't see why not. It's fun for all ages! :P
