Remember the Art Gallery of NSW which is huge inclusive of a new modern wing plus The Contemporary Art Gallery in the Rocks are both free with the exception of special visiting exhibitions but you could easily do multiple visits to take it all in. Also the Australian Museum is also free, this surprises a lot of visitors. . All have cafes and restaurants. The library is worth visiting too and has a rooftop bar with great views.
The "main building" in Hyde Park is the ANZAC Memorial, with the Pool of Reflection out front. It's to honour those who died for Australia in military conflicts. Whilst I'm sure you meant no harm, I feel the comment made out the front was a bit disrespectful considering the spirit of the building and what it represents. At the north end of Hyde Park is Hyde Park Barracks, built 1819 CE, which is also free, well was when I visited in April, and is a small museum centred around Australia's early colonial history and also paying respect to the First Nations people and acknowledging the abuse they suffered.
